The Bonfire Event

Josuke wasn't the type of person to show up to these kind of events (or very near anything, really), yet here he was, roasting a marshmallow in the bonfire he and his brother Kenshin helped to create and maintain. His brother, being the social guy he was, jumped at the chance to attend, and naturally he felt he needed to drag Josuke along as well. Which his parents encouraged. As soon as they arrived, Kenshin was already off talking with people. Josuke lied that he'd catch up in a little bit, but from the looks of things Kenshin wouldn't mind if he postponed their meeting a while longer. With a shrug, he took a bite out of the freshly roasted marshmallow. He liked the relaxing atmosphere of this place, at least.

After a few moments, he had eaten the last of his marshmallow. He glanced over his surroundings for any sign of his brother, but found a really tall guy instead, probably tending to the fire or something. He seemed interesting enough, if only for his obvious height. Plus, the risk of getting pulled into a larger crowd by Kenshin would lessen if he talked with another person, which he preferred over a crowd any day. With that, he approached the man that towered over him.

"Hey."

Sky

Delighted with his new marshmallow pack, he headed back towards the big bonfire after politely thanking the big wolf. He reached in to grab a piece of soft goodness and delighted in its sweet delicate flavor coupled with a pleasing sugary scent. He then began eating in twos, then in threes.

As he is going through the pack at an alarming rate, the oblivious Sky didn't notice a rock on the ground and tripped over it, spilling the rest of the marshies unto the bonfire.
Slowly, tears began flowing from his eyes in a comical fashion as he watched his squishy snacks slowly turn to ashes, all the sweetness in them turning bitter.

What time was it? Teddy slept in the ground to make sure he wouldn't miss the bonfire, and yet he still mucked up. It was a good thing he had the foresight to use the last set of clothes made of his own essence - they cost a fortune and looked very plain and annoyingly purple, but at least they phased through where he did. If he did the usual thing and stripped before sleeping, they would most likely have been burned or succumbed to the elements.

It was a good thing that he woke up when he did, as the bonfire was in full swing based on what he could hear from in the dirt. And if he was estimating right, he was, judging by the way the sound of interaction seemed to be coming from every direction save for above, directly under the flame. "Out of the frying pan and into the fire," he muttered to the dirt in a voice that no one would hear, as he sat up and pushed himself through the surface, finding himself directly in the bonfire.

Making the fire simply do nothing would have proved trivial at this point, what with his mastery over his own physical presence, though he chose to burn. It wasn't like it would do him any harm anyway. And it would also make him a lot more dramatic, which was always a nice thing.

Looking around for people to bother, Teddy turned and turned, and then his attention caught on two people near the bonfire, far taller than he was. He sniffed and said to no one in particular, "I smell silence and awkward. Time to remedy."

Casually, Teddy strode out of the bonfire toward the two taller men, all ablaze and all nonchalant. "How are you two finding the bonfire? I'd have stayed in a bit longer but I'd rather not fill the air with my scent. Mana smells terrible when it burns too much - think sulfur crossbred with essence of hell. Hella comfy though."

Thresher kept facing the odd kind-of-wolf man for several moments, keeping Cana behind him for the duration. When Adder didn't really do anything Thresher turned back towards the table, but kept side-eyeing at the strange man occasionally.

He watched as Sky skipped off towards the fire, and blinked a few times when he tripped, he shook his head a bit and handed a bag of marshmallows to Cana, gesturing for her to take them over to Sky.

He then let his attention drift back to Emilie. Defaulting back to a more body based language, he waited for her to address him again.

Emily gave a timid smile back, idly shuffling the cards in her hands. "W-Well... It's a l-little complicated... You have to kn-know what the cards mean in order to propery read them... Th-They also mean d-different things d-depending an what your trying to r-read..."

RICHARD TRICKSON

Richard Trickson continued to play, smiling softly as he closed his eyes. It was a bit strange, wearing his sunglass at night. Oh well, he thought he looked cool.

MILK

Milk noticed a younger kid walk up and sit by the fire, roasting what appeared to be sausages. Normally that would be the end of her thought process, kid roasting sausages on the fire, nothing much too it.

Then she noticed the sausage burst into flames, turning to charcoal. Milk didn't know much, but she knew one thing. That was not edible. She walked up to the child and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Excuse me, young one. I do not believe that is the correct way to roast those."

Mina @"King"

Mina looked around when she heard the sounds of music carrying over the crackle of the flames. She followed the odd sounds over to a man sitting on a log with a guitar.

She tilted her head a little swaying idly to the music as she observed him. "Is not the purpose of the sunglasses negated when worn in such dim lighting? Or is it perhaps somewhat traditional to wear protection from the flames light?"

Adder

The adult turned away! If he was going to have a shot, this would be it. He wasn't being ignored completely, but he wasn't constantly under scrutiny. He'd tried worse gambles and won. He just had to be careful. Watch where and when he moved.

Adder was used to moving unnoticed in cities, not out here. There were enough similarities, though. His footsteps were timed with bursts of other noise and he moved with the natural flow around him. Closer, closer, closer...

This would have to be close enough. The adult wolf was focused on the girl who didn't talk a language he could recognise. Adder slipped towards the nearest deer carcass.

Rory Voltaire

Rory pulled the marshmallow back only when it was merely a crunch blackness on the outside and was to his liking. He had always loved sweets from the time he knew they existed but he was odd and particular with them. He let it cool and while doing that looked back to Emily as she gave him a bit more detail. He felt he would be pulling anything else like pulling teeth though as she wasn't too forthcoming with them. The boy sat himself next to her and picked up a random card with four cups upon it and it was in reverse. "Well..what does this one mean then?" He asked, "Shouldn't it be up right?" He flipped it around and looked at the back clearly clueless but no less curious.

Emilie Kiden

Emilie nodded to the child as she was handed the bag of small delights by her father and bid to give them to the crying child by the fire. Her gaze never strayed from the wolf man though because, like Adder, she knew that he held the key to the carcass that was just out of sight and she wanted the eyes of it. Again she pointed towards her own eyes but this time she attempted to speak the common tongue to explain her situation. She disliked the way the common tongue was hard for her to grasp which resulted in her feeling weak and inferior, two things she hated.

The pale being grasped at Thresher's pant leg and then his shirt, or fur, and used it to pull herself to an unstable stand. She swayed sideways looking perfectly unbalanced and kept a firm grasp on the wolf man to keep up right. Emilie then looked the man in his face and said, "E..eeyss..."

She could smell the purple! Taste it! Touch it! Was that crazy? ...Probably but the upper class-man didn't seem the least bit phased about that. She approached the bonfire in a fitted purple jacket, blue jeans and knee high black boots befitting one of a wealthy home such as she was. It had been far too long since she had attempted to feed as she should have been and the effects were quite noticeable if one bothered to look close enough. There were circles beneath her eyes and her cheek bones seemed to be a little more pronounced than they should have been. The girl's feverish gaze searched out the one in a purple suit who was also curiously on fire, Teddy. How to get close enough to partake of the purple clothing? She found herself edging towards him before her mind could even inform her that being set on fire would be bad.

Thierry stared at the flames as the sausage turned to bitter charcoal and fell apart on the end of his skewer. Hmm. He couldn't really eat them if they turned into ashy dust. Maybe the book was wrong about this.

It had said 'sometimes catching fire is normal' and he'd just assumed....

...Hm....

The boy looked up as he was tapped, smiling at the woman.

"No, it's fine! I read a book on it once.

Volkan flinched. At first glance, he would've looked stern, but this giant was easily baffled by the greeting of another person, one much shorter than him, too. His eyes quickly moved to the young man's form, trying to look as blank as he could as he nodded to acknowledge the presence.

He was happy that someone was crazy enough to talk to him, but at the moment, he could only think of how this situation could go well.

"Hi," he greeted, his voice deep and low. "How are you enjoying the f--"

He was interrupted by the weird movement in the flames. It wasn't fire, because if it was, he would've felt some kind of control on it when he tried. His eyes left the new guy and fixed on the fire, and eventually on the person-- at least he thought it was a person-- that came out of the bonfire.

Mana?

"Is... Is that safe?" Volkan blinked. He really didn't know what to say, the mana guy came so randomly. His eyes detected an approaching girl next. She was looking at mana guy, it seemed, and at his purple...ness. He turned back to mana guy and pointed at the girl, "Hey, this girl looks like she needs you."
