Age: 21 [updated nov 2015]
Birthday: October 30
Gender: Male
Species: Nerite
Category: Student
Class: College
Grade: Third Year
College Major: Engineering, to be Magical Engines

Appearance Description: Black haired, blue eyed, and a card-carrying member of the hot dudes club, Mason has a deck full of cool and collected. He's the one all the kids ogle over, whether for his looks or because he just showed up in yet another flash car. Mason is the six-foot-even hunk in the leather jacket, painted-on jeans, beat up cowboy hat, and occasionally feathered earrings. Yup. He has enough self confidence to wear feathered earrings to class on a consistent but not constant basis, and has since mid high school.

Personality Description: Mason is the rich kid, the show-off, the one always wearing sunglasses and alternately flirting with and flipping off the teachers. He's the one that everyone has slept with and claims they totally have -

except they haven't, because if they had they would have somehow made it past his little, ah, control issue. If Mason doesn't keep an eye on his physical shape, he will abruptly be made of cold water. Not body temperature water, cold water. And you thought that a cold shower worked on other people. Oh, and if he catches himself in time, sometimes he just slips into an animal form instead. Warmer than water, at least, but most people don't want to have sex with a four pound platypus. If they do, well, there are other issues interfering with the pairing.

Mason is also very much not comfortable talking about his little accidents, and often tries to pretend he isn't interested in someone in order to avoid the awkwardness. He is practiced at breaking up with people before ever dating them, and also at breaking up with people immediately before he gives into himself and wants to try to sleep with them.

He's also not rich, by the way. All those cars? Well, it's hard to keep him from stealing them when they beg him to drive them off. Sports cars want to run and fly and dance, not sit in a driveway. Water is also really hard to catch or arrest. So is a tiny limpet hiding in a corner of the glove box. Besides, he doesn't crash them (ow) and he returns them when he's done giving them some exercise.

His single biggest dream (shortly ahead of successfully having sex without shifting into anything mood-ruining) is to be an airplane for a while. Both a super-agile little plane and a huuuuuuuge jumbo giant transport plane. And maybe a police car, just for fun. He hasn't had the chance to do that, strangely enough. He's succeeded in outrunning the cops long enough to park and 'abandon' the vehicle all five times they've tried to pull him over. It's not like he has much choice; he can't drive a car the regular way because the pull to possess it is too strong to resist long enough to get anywhere, much less complete a licensing road test.

Powers: Species Abilities: Nerite
As a nerite, Mason can transform into water or a variety of aquatic and semi-aquatic animals. If he's touched it then he can copy that individual; if it's bitten him then he can shift into his own individual form of that species. This shifting ability is primarily consciously controlled but a lack of control can (and often does) result in Mason very abruptly turning into water. He can control his body-water in a liquid state to some extent, but cannot truly defy the laws of physics. Extricating himself from fabric is a pain... and he has a certain tendency to turn to water if too aroused. He is theoretically capable of partial shifting only to his water form; animal forms are all-or-nothing.

Individual Ability: Vehicle Possession
Mason has the odd talent (especially for a water spirit) of being able to take control of a vehicle with which he has physical contact, or which he is inside. He can manipulate the vehicle as his own body, but with greater accuracy and dexterity if he is more familiar with it. Re-possessing vehicles or understanding their structure both aid in this. While possessing a vehicle, his physical body tends to turn to water and dissipate, leaving an apparently empty vehicle racing around town until he can/does extricate his consciousness from it. He is more drawn to awesome vehicles, and both has an easier time possessing and a harder time extricating from such vehicles. Crashing a vehicle while possessing it will cause Mason pain appropriate to the damage, and his vision extends from both head/tail lights and windows in most vehicles. Tinted windows are like wearing sunglasses.

Biography: Mason's biological mother is Australian with Greek heritage, while his fathers (biological and adoptive) are both mixed Native American/European. One father is Haida while the other is Nuu-Chah-Nulth, and Mason was raised in a small town on an island off the coast of British Columbia, Canada. His dads were good people, but Mason always dreamed of big city lights - and big city engines, ever since he first accidentally took control of his parents' old Ford Explorer.

He made it into a major Vancouver school after high school, and even into the direct-entry engineering program. He had finally made it to the big city, and could do all the big city stuff - except he couldn't.

He coped by running around in expensive cars, exploring the province in everything from a Tesla to a mid-seventies VW beetle dune buggy. Everything was going pretty well until he experimented with a speed boat and got caught in an ocean current while low on gas.

He floated for a long time. A very long time. While possessing the boat, his body was simply water and his needs were those of the boat's, but even the weeks or months floating there were hard on him, and he only noticed he had been rescued when the boat he still possessed had been towed to within sight of an island. He had drifted near the archipelago, and a curious pleasurecrafter brought him in. When he was docked and boarded, he managed to extricate himself enough to form a limply-waving puddle in the compartment under the steering wheel. Fortunately for him, he'd ended up near rather magical folk. He is now recovering from dehydration and enrolled in the local college; it proved easier, and more interesting, than attempting to explain the whole story to his old school.

Also. He doesn't like boats anymore. Don't make him go near boats. Water is fine, but boats are not.
