  • Starlight Academy is a laid back roleplaying community with a goal in mind: to have fun while roleplaying. Post at your own pace, plot to your heart's desire, and you decide how your roleplaying experience will be.

    &

Starlight Academy is PG-13 in character and out, except for in a Mature thread that has been properly labeled and tagged as such. PG-13 includes: soft drug use, alcohol use, language, and mild sexual content.

While these 'Mature' threads do allow more adult themes and activities to take place, we are not designed to be an erotic roleplay site. As mentioned above, Starlight Academy is first and foremost intended to be aimed at a PG-13 rating. If you desire a place with more of a focus on adult content, or if that is the only type of roleplaying you are looking for, then Starlight Academy is probably not the site for you.

    General Rules

    • Respect everyone. This is the number one rule and we cannot stress how important it is. Please help keep our community safe.

    • Communicate. Roleplay sites live and die by the communication of their members. Aren't sure why something is happening? Ask! Not comfortable with the way a thread is going? Let your partner know. Every other rule on the site is greatly aided by proper communication with your roleplay partners and the site as a whole.

    • Use general forum etiquette. Don't spam, don't advertise outside the advertising section, posts should be in clear English and fully legible (don't hide them behind tiny fonts or unreadable colors).

    • We are an Account-Per-Player site. This means that you will only have a single account for all your characters. If you would like to swap to a new account (for a fresh start or otherwise), please let the staff know.

    • All players must register with their real birthday. Players are free to choose the option to hide this birthday once registered, but when registering it must be correct. If you registered with a birthday that is not your own, contact the admins immediately to have it corrected. If we find out that an underage roleplayer is lying about their age, they will receive an instant ban.

    • Unlabeled mature content is not allowed. There are to be no pornographic, gory, or otherwise inappropriate images or links unless in a Mature labeled thread. Risque and borderline content should be in a spoiler, with the reason for the label mentioned. NSFW/Mature content should not be linked to in the discord.

    • Be careful with your language. Swearing is allowed, but should be kept to a minimum in the discord. Slurs, however, should only be used in character, and should be warned accordingly.

    • Contact an admin if you need anything a moderator cannot help with. If you have any issues with other members, SA itself, or any of the staff, please do not hesitate to inform an admin about these things. While it may feel safer to not stir the waters, if the staff doesn't know something is wrong, nothing will ever change. You can reach out to them via PM or discord.

    • Discord Rules

    • Use general discord etiquette. Don't spam, don't advertise or talk about other roleplay sites, and keep conversations in the correct channel.

    • Avatars, emotes, and images should be appropriate for the site. Those who use inappropriate emotes, send inappropriate pictures, or have an inappropriate avatar will be kicked from the server.

    • Don't roleplay in the discord. The In-Character Chat is there, and has it's own set of rules and guidelines you can find here. Please read them before joining the ICC. A brief *waves* is fine, but please don't roleplay back and forth.

    • Remember to be appropriate. The discord is for everyone, and we want everyone to be comfortable. The discord follows the same rules at the site, which means that soft drug use, alcohol use, language, and mild sexual content are all acceptable topics of discussion. However, please do not discuss dark and disturbing subjects, bring up political happenings, or use the discord to vent about heavy life problems. The discord should be open and welcoming to everyone. If you feel uncomfortable with a topic of conversation, it's perfectly acceptable to ask for a topic change. Please be explicit that you'd like a topic change; hinting or being subtle will not work.

    • Respect the staff. If a topic has become too inappropriate, staff will ask for a subject change. If anyone, staff or not, asks for a subject change, please change the subject.

    • Roleplay Rules

    • Read the Character Rules. For a full list of Character Rules, please read this thread.

    • We are a consent based roleplay. This means that godmoding, power playing, and meta-gaming are prohibited unless you have the permission of your roleplaying partner.

    • Apply the appropriate Prefixes to your threads. Here is a guide for how to Prefix properly.

    • Roleplay in a way that is consistent with the site. Posts should be in third person, past tense. There is no minimum or maximum word count, but please try and give your partner something to respond to.

    • Posts, both roleplay and out of character, should be in clear, easy to understand English. While your character might speak another language, please be respectful of other languages. Don't google translate large portions of your characters speech, and be careful not to overuse any accents they might have. Instead, mention that your character is speaking another language or using an accent in the post itself. Posts using other languages or accents should include a translation in the post itself, either in-line or at the bottom of the post.

    • Nearly all plots are accepted unless they break the setting. There are only four types of plots that are not allowed without staff permission: War, Apocalypse, Fourth-Wall breaking, or changing the Environment/Setting completely. If you want your character to do something that would affect the setting, please let the staff know so we can adjust accordingly!

    • Be wary of what you have your characters do. In-Character actions may lead to enforced In-Character consequences depending on the situation. If your character murders their rival at a school assembly, the police are going to find out!

    • Keep the violence tasteful and love scenes to a PG-13 level when not using the Mature prefix. ALWAYS label your threads as Mature if there is graphic violence, extreme language, or sexual roleplaying. We will not condone or tolerate underaged roleplayers viewing or participating in Mature threads.

    • Characters who present as children, are mentally under the age of 18, appear physically under the age of 18, or who would generally be considered to be newly born should not be played in any sexual situations.

These rules are subject to change at any time and consequences are at the staffs discretion. If you have any concerns or complaints, please contact the admins via PM.
