Florentin Octavius

Florentin was never a man that half-assed things. Everything, and he meant everything, in the dinner had to be perfect. The pool boy, the maids and the gardener dropped by earlier that day to make sure their respective areas were clean and perfect with dear old Sasha presiding over them and making sure they did their jobs properly. A few caterers came in later that afternoon to decorate the place, move stuff around and deliver food that took time to prepare, mainly the desserts. They brought in macaroons of assorted flavors, finely stacked and decorative in themselves, and several dozens of eclairs.

Florentin in general preferred simple but elegant, and the decorations were no different: The curtains were traded for rich, dark purple embroidered velvet and the long table cloth with his best white decorated linen. As far as the dishes went, he broke out the fine china, plates and bowls made out of shiny porcelain. There was a white ribbon around the stairway handle and several vases of preserved white roses. The lighting was dim, and there was a special pianist hired to play classical music all night to complete the ambiance of opulence. As requested, the mantle above the fireplace was cleared of most knickknacks for Octain's portrait. Everything was radiant, and absolutely perfect.

The most radiant centerpiece of them all was Florentin himself. He might be more distant from his parents nowadays, but that didn't change the fact that they taught him a great deal of useful things, with his favorite one being how to dress and carry himself like royalty.

There was a sort of on switch that flickered inside Florentin. Make no mistake: Florentin was charming everyday, but in these situations, he turned from rich heir pretty boy into something else entirely, more magnetic and intense, like a distant star zoomed in to reveal it was a bright, burning sun. He had a charm that demanded to be noticed, the kind that turned scrappy little boys into millionaires and valley girls into Hollywood stars. There was confidence in his posture and grace in his movements. As far as outfits went, he wore a simple but formal get-up of finely pressed slacks, a white dress shirt, a black tie, a black vest, and a silver ribbon holding his hair up. His own heirloom shone around his neck, beautiful and proud.

Florentin smiled like a million bucks and pulled Sasha down to his height, giving him a quick peck on the lips. For good luck, he thought. "Party's about to begin, my darling."

With that, Florentin left the kitchen and told security to open the gates through the intercom.

Lyndis was already in the car and almost at the house of Florentine. Getting there early so she could catch up more and see the place for herself. As well as to talk to Flor about some personal matters early to get them out of the way.

"Well, Zizi and Dusty we are almost there~ I hope you two are ready to meet the rest of the family." She said as she was driving her convertible. Trying to get there in good time like she was expecting. Lyndis took off the whole day. Opening the glove compartment with one hand as she pulled out a necklace of her own. Showing her office and and I with an eye in the middle of it. Obviously fake since it was made of silver. Pure silver eye. She had parked in the parking spot and turned the car off as she stepped out. Her black dress held tight to her figure as she fixed it. Putting her necklace on as a scabbard slowly appeared on her side. no sword on the inside. Though it came with the office of her own. The belt as black as the dress and made out of leather as she run a hand through her own hair.

"Well~ it's been a while since I felt this way.. hmhmhm..." She said walking up to the door of the estate. Originally going to push the door bell as she just walked in. It was great to have the power she did.

"Oh Florence my sweet nephew~ I'm here!" She said with a giggle. She was going to be the prettiest Octavius there. She was going to make heads turn like normal. "Dustin and Zizi are here too~ I hope you don't mind that Zizi is here."

"You have such a beautiful place here darling~" She said. Looking at some of the art. Looking into the living room as she saw that a picture was missing. "Awwwe.. Moved some art? What's going there...?"

Octain

Octain bypassed the gates with the rest of his family. Genesis, Lexi as well as Kimiko. He looked at them all. He was a tad bit late. Though he looked at the ground while he was wearing a full on suit. A black dress shirt, black dress vest, black tie. Black pants as well as a black jacket. He might have been over dressed for this. But he needed to make a good impression. his mask was still the same the same as always.

Holding a small duffel bag with his spell book, his mantle of the Magistar. Just ensuring that he would probably need it even if it was nothing formal. Due to Lyndis. She wold want to ruin Octain with tradition and formalities.

"W-Well.. I hope you are all ready to meet my family. What is here anyways." He said to them all. Trying to find the words to say next. "My faithful.. My child and our knight." he said as he knocked on the door. Awaiting to be let in.

Lexi;

Lexi was holding a painting that Octain had wrapped up for a situation like this. She didn't know what it was at all but knew that it was important to him. It was a painted picture that was all she was told. She was wearing a blue dress that hung off of her like a princess. As well as a little tiara made out of brambles she had made with Genesis one day when Octain was at work and Genesis was home looking after Lexi.

"Kimiko? Do... You think Daddy's family are good people?" She said lightly. Looking up at her. holding the packaged painting tight to her. Not tight enough to ruin it but enough to ensure it doesn't go anywhere. Then she looked over at Genesis.

"Mo-... Genesis? are you looking forward to meeting Daddy's family? Do you think we could meet yours sometime?" She asked inquisitively. She wanted to meet her family for once. it was something special that she had with Octain.

Dustin was excited, he had dressed in a button up shirt and nice pair of black slacks. His face was kind of expressionless while he walked around the house. It was no secret that Dustin was the type of person that rarely showed emotions unless he was around people he ared about and that seemed to consist of his mom and Zinnia. He really liked the girl from his class, and she was good at illusion magic like him. Not to mention she liked all his tricks, and that was a plus for a girl. He sat beside her in class and they ate lunch together.

"I'm so ready, I can't wait to introduce them to Zizi she's awesome" He said smiling at her but other wise saying nothing about meeting his family. It had always been him and his mom and as far he was concerned it would always be. Unless of course they were adding Zinnia to the equation because he would be okay with them being the two most important people in his life.

When they arrived he hurried out the car to the other side to open the door for Zinnia even if she could slide out the door her open he wanted to be gentleman. It was very obvious that he was crushing on the girl. He just wanted to treat her like a princess, he was very aware that he needed to treat girls the right way. His mother raised him to be a gentleman. He made sure to open the door for both his mother and Zinnia.

"Hello Florentin" Dustin said, his enhanced charisma becoming more apparent as he walked around and said hi to everyone. He made sure to Introduce Zizi to anyone that he talked to, though he didn't talk over here because that was rude.

Leander

He didn't really care one whit if he was pushing late, or that he was almost certainly the only one arriving with neither an adult in the party nor a vehicle for transportation.

Leander Leighton-Octavius did have transportation, though. It was simply alive, and breathing, and on fire. He rode in on a flaming nightmare stallion, for once not wearing a toque and an attempt at taming his hair... almost noticeable. It was a fine line, snubbing social protocols and acknowledging the dance moves. He was not out to make enemies of these people.

Not yet, anyway. He didn't know nearly enough about them and their powers. These were relatives who seemed to be entirely unlike his mother. Even this estate felt different.

This wasn't light and cloud and gentle sun. There was something more here, and Leander wasn't sure he liked that it belonged to someone else.

He banished Calis with a wave of his gloved left hand and adjusted the pendant resting on his brow. This was an Octavius occasion. Even if he didn't usually wear his heirloom he would have brought it out for this; as it was, he at least gave it a bit of a polish and forced his hair to reveal the chain as well as the pendant.

It would be interesting to see who could differentiate between chain and pendant, between power and pretty. Not just about his heirloom, though - no, the divide between power and pretty was important for people as well. Leander had to trust his own abilities there, and work out how his pressed black jacket and trousers would be received. Leander was neither high society dandy nor uncivilized outsider. He had the money but not the interest.

He had Dubrach fly in to knock on the door rather than bothering to do it himself. The raven's disgust simply amused him; Leander knew the shifter far too well by know to fall for any of his tricks, and so there was nothing the sometimes-raven-sometimes-fox could do.

Perhaps some of his relatives would prove worthwhile. Dubhrach and Cedar were both excellent examples that intelligent beings could be bound and used.

Leander smirked a bit at the thought as he prepared to enter his whatever-cousin's home. Suffer through this and perhaps lay the foundation for a new pet. He did have a good-quality needle tucked away, just in case.

A fancy dark red Porsche drove into the estate just a few minutes after others arrived. It's engine was quiet and low, like a mighty stallion galloping, but definitely far from exhausted, turned into a car. It halted smoothly in the parking lot, making a low vrrr-ing huff before the engine rested. And then the door to the driver seat opened, and Rohan Octavius-Greer stepped out, fixing his white coat over his black dress shirt and red tie, it's cuffs, before he turned around to close the door.

It was a shame his sister would have to be a little late, if she could even join later. It would have been nicer if they'd gone together. But there was no helping it, and Rohan had to walk into the mansion on his own. His walk was straight and elegant. His right hand loosely hung from inside his white slacks' right pocket, and his left moved on his side in rhythm with his strides.

He stepped inside to find the others already there. A gentle smile formed on his lips. His eyes slowly scanned the place, and the people's backs and faces, wanting to meet Flor first of all, his uncle Octain, and then the rest. But he didn't make any move just yet. It seemed that everyone just got here, and Rohan knew more than to force himself into the crowd just after arriving. He watched from beside the door, and then took a few steps around, just to get a better feel of the ambience created by the decorations.

It's been a while since he attended a family gathering, one so fancy at that. He chuckled to himself, briefly closing his eyes as he recalled the previous ones. And then, he finally turned to their host, Flor, smiling brightly. They haven't seen each other for a long time and Rohan barely recognized him, but Flor's face was not something forgettable. But as Rohan approached, it also slowly sank into him how his young cousin was taller than him now. Flor looked so mature, it was adorable.

"Flor!" He beamed, holding out a hand for a shake. He wanted to give a warmer greeting, but with a setting so formal, he doubted it was appropriate. First of all, hugs would ruin their beautiful outfit. "You've grown up to be so fine, cousin! How are you?"

They hadn't lived here for very long, but that didn't mean Sasha wasn't thorough and prepared in all aspects. He'd quickly gained the friendships and trust of the other, new servants, and felt comfortable with the jobs they'd done- keeping a watchful eye out with things, correcting or helping when needed, but ultimately able to leave them alone and focus on his own work.

He was, mainly, making dinner. Earlier in the day, he'd turned on the radio in the kitchen and sang while he prepared. Flor, when not also busy, had come in to listen or talk to him, which was lovely. They were… the two of them were the leads here, in the villa. That kept hitting him. The parents weren't around any longer, so they could be more open, more in charge. They were both truly adults now, weren't they? And this was all theirs. In the morning, Sasha woke up with Flor, and the caretaker having his own room was really just for show. Half of it was all softness and warmth in his chest, the other half, a rush over actually being fully in charge and individuals that stood on their own.

Well, perhaps not on their own, that was badly worded. They were stronger now, together, and it really felt right.

But things were starting soon, and Sasha was more grim and in serving mode than he'd been in the morning. The radio was off, exchanged for gentle piano music that could be heard throughout the house. Florentin was there, but a switch had flipped in him as well, and didn't they match each other so perfectly in that? The young man was always stunning, to Sasha, it was something that he couldn't miss or turn away from if he tried. And he didn't want to try, nothing pleased him more than being in this presence, closer than close. But on days like this, others tended to get a peek of what Sasha always saw.

Sasha smiled kindly, and knew the other had to go now. They both had their own duties to attend to. The feeling of the kiss lingered on him, he kept it in his heart and very being so he could keep going. Such things were a source of energy and drive like no else. "I know. I'd say good luck, but I don't think you need it, not for this. Go out there and do what you do best, my love. Be yourself." My everything.

He watched Florentin leave, a bittersweet feeling now starting to press into him. Florentin was so beautiful. Human languages could barely express how beautiful he was, in every single way, how much Sasha felt. Even his higher, celestial tongue couldn't explain it all. 'Everything' was often the closest he could get, along with frantic, desperate rambles of his affections, how tightly he held the other… the list went on and on.

Florentin dressed and carried himself with all that he should, for a gathering like this, flawless. Sasha was resigned to the fact that the kitchen was his area for the night, and the most significant part of his outfit was a thick sweater and an apron. When it was time for the family to settle down and eat, other servants would deliver the food. Despite his interaction with Octain, no, because of it even, Sasha was feeling even more timid and stiff about his place in the hierarchy of things. He was stepping out of line in so many ways, unable to help himself, that he couldn't… he had to make up for it somehow, really. He knew what he was, what he always would be, and he'd accepted that a long time ago. Despite how indulgent Flor was with him (too indulgent), that was how things were.

Of course, he was still Florentin's personal guard. He had access to the security camera feed from his phone, and was keeping an eye on it. If anything went wrong, he'd be there. There was… an ominous vibe, about something, or several things, around this dinner. He'd be here. He always would.

Now that everything had settled between them, Genesis found herself beside Octain more often. It was usually for small things, like coffee or a show to watch together. This time however, she was faced with something much bigger. An ultimate test, if you will. One that would test wherever their relationship was going.

The dreaded family dinner.

Now, she knew Octain's parents were long gone, and he literally just found out days ago that his family was much larger than anticipated. But still. Genesis had the deep desire to prove her best to those he was related to. She dressed well, without overdressing. Wearing a flowing cream colored blouse and form-fitting pants. The back of said top was sheer, revealing the outline of the mark of Scorpio. She adjusted the leaves carefully placed in her now orange hair. She kept herself close to her date and his child, who herself had a date. As the approached the house, she looked over to her beloved Octain. A confident yet easy smile on her face.

”I am sure that everything will go to plan. I know they will really like you, Octain. And I hope the same for all of us.” Her smile brightened up at him, as she tilted her head a tiny bit, completed by the slight trace of her fingers to his hand. Her eyes then moved towards the voice of Lexi's. To which yet a more soft smile appeared on her face.

”I certainly am.” She replied rather gingerly. There was a certain soft spot in her heart for the young girl, as evidenced to Genesis' gentle adjustment to her tiara to make sure it was fit for the little princess. Her fingers traced over a loose lock of Lexi's hair to tuck it behind one of her ears. It was at her second question where uncertainty peaked through. ”I... Am not sure. In due time, I suppose it will happen. I am sure they would love you and your father, however...” With that, she looked over the group once more before looking at the front door to the mansion. She delivered a reassuring peck to the cheek of Octain, before looking ahead. ”After you, Octain...”

Aunt Lyndis was the first to arrive. And it delighted Flor. Loathe as he was to have someone hold him in a leash here, he didn't mind that it was Aunt Lyndis, and he was very grateful that the leash was so loose it was barely there at all. Aunt Lyndis was an important figure in his life despite her frequent absences, and it delighted him that they would be able to interact on a semi-regular basis.

She was radiant. Not as radiant as he was, of course, but enough that it was respectable, and pulled into the trademark well of Octavius charm. He thought about how the others needed to win his respect, but Aunt Lyndis already did. He touched her arms and held her hands, kissing her in a very European manner, one brief peck on each cheek. "Aunt Lyndis~ It's so good to see you again. Me and Sasha have been talking about how excited we were to go to Starlight and see you again. I'm absolutely ecstatic to meet the rest of the family! I've known Cousin Rohan and his sister, but the others are an absolute mystery to me. Either way, I'm looking forward to meeting the new Magistar. I've always been curious, you know. It's been so long since there's been a Head."

He looked over at her companions and smiled, welcoming them both. "Mind? Of course not. I'm absolutely delighted that Dustin's here, and with a date, too! How charming! My name is Florentin. Feel free to call me Flor. We have an open pool outside and desserts on the table, but don't eat too many before dinner. It might spoil your appetite." He winked.

At Lyndis' query about the mantle, Florentin grinned. "The Magistar requested that I clear a space for a portrait in his return letter. So I did." That was definitely going to be drama. As much as he felt for Aunt Lyndis, he was excited to how this would all turn out.

As soon as more guests began to enter, he patted Aunt Lyndis on the shoulder, and Dustin and Zinnia both on the head. "Please, seat yourselves at the table while I see to our other guests. Sasha's appetizers are about to be served soon. His shrimp puffs are to die for."

@"Bowen"

The next arrival was a punk-looking kid.

He had to suppress his urge to laugh.

None of that showed on the surface, though. Florentin's smile was welcoming and charming, but in a way that warned not to abuse his hospitality. He placed an amicable hand on Leander's shoulder. "Bonjour. I am Florentin, the host. It's lovely to finally meet one of the Octaviuses that married into the Leighton family. I do hope you'll enjoy yourself." He gestured at the long table. "Please, please. Make yourself comfortable! That is Aunt Lyndis, the Inquisitor, and her child Dustin with his date."

A bell rang. A servant exited the kitchen with shrimp puffs. "Enjoy the appetizers!"

@"Trahnael"

Of course, more people were coming in.

A small smile crept on Florentin's face as he watched Cousin Rohan enter. It had been... one or two years since they last saw each other? Funny. He could remember Cousin Rohan as this pillar of beauty and maturity so many years ago. It was such a surprise that he was so underwhelming today, as if his own grace and beauty eclipsed his.

"Cousin Rohan!" he returned, holding Rohan's hand politely in his own. His smile was just as bright. "I'm very flattered that you think so. Puberty was kind to me. You look amazing as well! I see not much has changed."

He gestured to the table. "Please, please. Take a seat."

@"Dalamadur"

Just when they thought everyone was in, the Magistar arrived.

Florentin greeted him and his companions with nothing but the brightest smile. Only this dinner would test if he was actually worthy of his respect. Either way, Florentin would be benefiting.

"Uncle Octain. My name is Florentin Octavius. It's a pleasure to finally meet the Head of our family." He shook his hand. "Welcome to my humble abode. I cleared a space from the mantle, as per your request. I hope we've made a good impression. I've been dying to meet you."

He gestured at the table. "Please, come and join the rest of the family at the dinner table."

Zinnia was more than happy to join the Octavius family for dinner! She loved hanging out with Dustin. He was such a cool boy, and he had illusion magic just like her! She was ecstatic when he offered to take her to the dinner. Her room was filled with the magical roses he gave her every time she entered class. This led her to converse with him. They talked and hung out together at school. They even started eating lunch together! She loved seeing him demonstrate his magic tricks. While she was already interested in learning more about her powers, Dustin was another deciding factor now. She wanted to impress him, and she could only do that when she had full control of her abilities.

"I can't wait to meet everyone! I'm glad Daddy said I could come!"

The girl was dressed in a beautiful party dress, and her hair was in a single wavy ponytail. The ponytail trailed over her shoulder. She even had a pretty manicure and cute Mary Janes. She beamed cheerfully at her crush as the car arrived at the house. Once they were able to get out, she was practically skipping over to the place while holding Dustin's hand. She was his date. They made for an adorable couple. Let the toy ship sail on.

She followed the mother and son pair to meet Florentin. He looked very proper and chill. He was somewhat similar in appearance to her father, but they definitely weren't the same. He was a very nice man. She curtsied before him like a proper lady.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Florentin!"

The girl chimed in her French accent. Her accent hadn't completely gone away yet. Her eyes widen at the mention of dessert. She loved sweets! Of course she had to be careful about spoiling her dinner. The girl turned to Dustin as her head was patted.

"Let's go look at the desserts!"

She wanted to see what they had. She wondered if they had any mille-feuille. That was her favorite!

"Oh, well, I'll take that as a compliment." Rohan let go of his cousin's hand. "Puberty was kind indeed. The past years were, too, to me. Won't be getting any younger, after all. And it's nice not to grow old fast. Oh, I'm not sure if my sister could still come. I apologize if ever she's to arrive late."

His eyes briefly wandered about to see the other members of the Octavius family. He hasn't met most of them yet, with the exception of their Aunt Lyndis who was an important family to Flor. Before taking a seat, he made sure to make her notice him, and so he approached carefully, calling, "Aunt Lyndis," before his hand lightly tapped her shoulder, and his figure moved in front of her. He flashed her a bright yet gentle smile, his trademark smile, and pulled a half-bloomed red rose from his left sleeve, even though it didn't look like anything was there before, and held it out to her.

"I haven't seen you in ages, but you're still as beautiful as I can recall, if not more," he chuckled. He meant it, everyone was beautiful. But the only person here that looked just as beautiful as he was, was Flor. And the boy still haven't aged much.

Beauty earned a different respect as true respect and awe, however. Just then, the Magistar has finally arrived, and Rohan honestly didn't expect that he'd turn his head to Octain with such excitement of seeing him, meeting him, and finally getting acquainted. He's heard a lot about Octain from his mother, and he genuinely wanted to learn anything he could from Octain and that's why he was here in the first place.

For a moment, Rohan had to snap out and fix his face back to that of a gentle smile from the awestruck expression that slipped out of him. He fixed his white coat, before walking towards the Magistar. Flor had just greeted him, and Rohan hoped his cousin wouldn't think badly of him for he couldn't take his seat just yet.

"Uncle," he called, holding out a hand for a greeting, as usual. "I've been really excited to meet you! My name is Rohan. I came here to be a teacher in the academy so... I hope to learn what I need to learn from the best himself."
