"Helloooo Starlight Academy!" Came a deep, nearly husky voice as the boat transporting students to and from the island was slowly maneuvered into the school's dock. First off the boat was a tall, rather pale young man. He appeared to be in his early twenties, with red hair that was clearly dyed but complimented his vivid red eyes and naturally pale complexion. He wore a simple, black designer shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, sharp designer jeans and shoes that were also black, and an understated silver chain around his neck. Slung over his shoulder was what looked like a considerably large suitcase, but he appeared to have no trouble toting it around. A bad boy, wild type of aura was all emanating off of him in waves, emphasized by the roguish smirk on his handsome features. The expression also served to give a hint of fang-- he was a vampire, after all.

Next off the boat was a younger boy, somewhere around his mid-teens, that was considerably shorter than the first. Soft blonde hair was cut to his shoulders, the fringe of which kept getting into his golden honey eyes. He was dressed much more casually than the vampire, sporting slightly baggy clothes that looked extremely comfortable, and gave off a much more childish, good-natured, almost playful aura. "Haha, let's go, let's go, let's go!" He exclaimed with a light laugh as he bounced his way down the dock, swinging several small suitcases from side to side. For a split second, his eyes flashed a deeper amber and his excited grin gained its own hint of fang-- he was a 'werewolf'.

Last, but certainly not least, the final member of the little trio walked off the boat, wheeling his own large suitcase behind him with dignity. Just a few inches shorter than the vampire and several inches taller than the werewolf, this man appeared to be in his late twenties. His silvery white hair was layered down to his shoulders, and though he reached a long-fingered hand up to tuck his hair behind his right ear, the rest remained to cover his left eye, the other of which was a wine-like reddish-brown. Unlike the vampire and the werewolf, he gave off a more mature, responsible air that had a hint of static-- or magic to one who could sense that sort of thing, which identified him as a wizard. "Calm down, you two. It isn't as if the Academy will disappear on us; it will still be there regardless of how much time we take to get there." He gently scolded his companions, and though the other two had the decency to look abashed, he knew their excitement couldn't be contained. The white-haired man was dressed rather formally, though had kept the tropical climate of the island in mind. He too wore his crisp, white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, a dark gray cravat tied loosely around his neck, and black slacks and shoes.

"Yeah, yeah, just hurry up." The vampire grumbled, rolling his eyes in exasperation even though his tone held no real venom. In fact, his smirk turned into a small, nearly fond smile. Of course, the expression warranted teasing from the young werewolf, which launched the two into a bickering, light-hearted argument that lasted the whole journey from the docks to the administration building of Starlight Academy. "Oh, hush, both of you, and try not to stir up too much trouble." The wizard murmured as he led the trio into the building and to the admissions office.

"Names?" The secretary on duty asked immediately upon seeing the trio's suitcases, recognizing them as incoming students.

"I am Arren King." The white-haired wizard said, smiling and nodding politely.

"Jace Nightray, darling~" The vampire purred, the corners of his lips tilting into a faint smirk.

"Ace Pendragon!" The werewolf said eagerly, offering the woman a bright grin.

A little overwhelmed, the woman stuttered a bit before jumping back into action, quickly and efficiently checking all three of them in and handing each of them a bundle of papers. Each bundle contained a map of the Academy, their schedules, and whatever other paperwork was required upon a student's arrival. With that, the secretary returned to typing away at her computer, but couldn't help but blush at Jace's departing smirk and smile at Ace's sweet farewell.

"Well, that wasn't so hard, now was it?" Arren commented lightly, watching as Jace and Ace hurried ahead of him. "Yeah, now let's go explore! Please~?" The werewolf threw over his shoulder, pausing to turn around and walk backwards so he could give Arren a pleading look. "Oh great, here comes the puppy dog eyes." Jace muttered snarkily, starting he and Ace into yet another argument.

'Ah, family. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.' Thought Arren, shaking his head slowly at the bickering pair.

RE: The Academy's Triple Threat Arrive! (Open to all~)

54

In a hallway beside the Admissions Office, there was a student, a row of potted flowers, and a general sense of peace. As a being who typically frequented the theater areas of the school, it was only natural that 54 would eventually be roped into being part of the crew. Perhaps 54 would never be able to perform a real role on the stage but 54 would gladly take a supplementary job behind the scenes.

54 liked being useful and so 54 pursued the duties of this new position with fully focused seriousness. Today, 54 was studying set designing in 54's own way. The Japanese had some art of flower arranging, ikebana, that 54 found to be quite interesting. 54 did not believe that 54 would be able to replicate such delicate designs with individual stems and petals but 54 did believe that there was something to be gained by studying angles and compliments. Hence the flower pots. They had been found around the school, taken when people weren't looking, and to be returned at a time before they would be missed. They were, from left to right : pink roses, white roses, orange and red streaked tulips, lavender, and bright scarlet poppies.

After a moment of thought, 54 moved the lavender to the other side of the pink roses and pushed the poppies down to fill the gap. Doing so, however, still seemed to preserve some kind of jarring edge to the pattern. The difference between the small tabletop roses and the tulips seemed to be too great. Wavy next to smooth. Clumsy.

54 deliberated. The white roses and tulips were swapped. Still not perfect. 54 refused to believe that some kind of harmony could not be achieved with the given components.

Time to try again.

RE: The Academy's Triple Threat Arrives! (Open to all~)

Eventually, Arren decided to intervene and firmly cut into argument. "Both of you, enough! Ace, you can go explore. Just please, please be careful. And you, Jace, stop antagonizing Ace. You can come with me and sort out our dorm room if you don't want to explore." The vampire and the werewolf fell silent, simultaneously looking down at their feet and rubbing the backs of their necks sheepishly.

"Sorry, Arren!" Ace said quickly, features tugging into an innocent moue. Jace, on the other hand, simply muttered under his breath, but shot the wizard an apologetic look. At least, Arren could tell it was apologetic-- anyone outside of their little trio would merely see a rather blank expression on the vampire's face.

Ace snapped out of his gloomy mood, though, and was once again bouncing along within moments. He was so excited that he was given free reign to explore their new home that he immediately began flitting around the other two, peeking into offices and rooms and hallways. And that was how he spotted the blob that is 54.

The energetic werewolf dashed over to the blob's side, tilting his head in a manner reminiscent to a curious child. "Hi~! My name's Ace Pendragon, what's yours? What are you doing? Ouuuu, these flowers look so pretty! Look that that one! No, that one! My favorite's this one. What's your favorite? But why are you playing with potted flowers? Are they a gift for someone? Are you trying to choose which one's best? Ouuuu, let me help, let me help, let me help! Please~?" He didn't give 54 any time to answer his questions, talking a mile a minute as he bounced around the curious blob.

While Ace put 54 under his own mini inquisition, Arren and Jace had been conversing about their dorm arrangement. As a member of the staff, Arren was entitled to his own room in the staff's wing, but none of the trio were comfortable with being separated. Rooms large enough to accommodate three people were rare, however, so they needed to figure out how to fit all three of them in a dorm room made for two people until a suitable room could be found. It was during this debate that they heard Ace begin to ramble on and both the wizard and vampire assumed Ace had run into someone.

"Ace, calm down. You're going to talk their ear off." Arren chided softly as he and Jace rounded the corner, only to pause in his step once he spotted 54. He wasn't exactly prepared to meet such an interesting creature on the first day, but he handled his surprise with tact. Jace, on the other hand, had no problem with blurting out what first came to mind. "What the fuck?!" He nearly shouted, blatantly staring at the humanoid blob.

Once Arren and Jace had found them, Ace stopped the onslaught of questions, glaring at the vampire before his admittedly short attention span returned to 54. When he went so far as to start poking and prodding the blob in innocent curiosity, however, Arren tried to intervene again, alternating between murmuring apologies to 54 and scolding Jace, who began snarkily commenting on 'Ace's desire to become friends with everything and anything'.

RE: The Academy's Triple Threat Arrives! (Open to all~)

The things in brackets when 54 speaks are the omitted parts that are not being said. Dashes are for when 54 is mixing syllables together to form singular words. Or just see below.

54

54 redirected its attention as a being made itself known. Loudly known. The volume of the sudden noise made 54's body ripple slightly, sending faint streaks of color rolling across its form as it investigated the identity of this newcomer. It appeared to be a human looking male who was around 54's general height, golden haired and extremely excitable. Seeing as 54 had taken no actions of any sort towards him, 54 concluded that the excitability was probably a typical state for this human.

The questions that rained down seemed to be quite harmless, but before 54 could even answer them, the topic was changed again and again. Puzzling. Did the human not want to know hear the answers, then? Did it think that 54 was incapable of communicating, perhaps? But no, then the human would not be asking at all.

54 quite prided the gift of speech. Even though 54 could not really speak on 54's own ability, the ability to communicate through other's speech was dearly prized.

Soon enough, there was a mild distraction in the form of even more newcomers. All appeared to be human males. Suddenly, 54 had much more of a variety in speech. That was acceptable.

Having no mouth or eyes, 54 had no need to turn to face anybody as 54 spoke. Rudeness, politeness. Those terms were inapplicable to body language when the body did not have the parts which were typically used to convey the subtle gestures that suggested such things.

"Hi~!" 54 said, mimicking the excitable human's speech. Parts would be cut and rearranged as needed. "My name's [gi]ft-thi-for. Wh[y]-[fo]r-d[own]-[your]s are l[ook]-[the]i[r]-m[y]-[favori]te-d[own].M[y]-[f]or. Please~~?"

Hi. My name's 54. Words are limited. More, please.

RE: The Academy's Triple Threat Arrives! (Open to all~)

"--could even talk the ears off the fuckin' walls!" was the last of Jace's rant as Arren efficiently shushed him with a murmured, "Language, Jace!" The vampire immediately stopped speaking, scowling moodily at the floor but otherwise remaining silent. With that done, the wizard turned to the energetic werewolf and the being he had apparently decided to befriend just as Ace looked at him, an uncomprehending look on his features as 54 finished 54's response.

Taking pity on the boy they had adopted into their little family, Arren sighed softly and turned fully to 54, examining 54 thoughtfully. "I believe what your friend here is trying to communicate is that it's name is... 54? and it... wants you to speak more?" He tentatively added, going over the sounds and syllables in his head. As someone that had traveled the world for nearly a century, Arren was no stranger to the necessity of acting as a translator. In this case, it was only a matter of listening to and stringing together the sounds the odd blob-like creature made. Much less complex than the hoops his mentor had forced him to jump through each and every time they moved on to a new country, though no less intriguing. Maybe he could help 54 somehow? Surely there was a way to make communication easier for the creature-- and off he went on his own tangent, losing himself to his thoughts.

"Oh!" Ace exclaimed, shifting his stance so he could stare at 54 again, golden eyes as wide as saucers. It was rare for someone-- let alone a stranger!— to give him free reign to talk as much as he wanted. He could, after all, ramble on for quite some time. This made 54 all the more awesome in his mind, however. "Well, it's nice ta meetcha, 54! That's a cool name. Kinda like you're the cool, mysterious guys from action movies! Oh! Do you like action movies? I love them. I don't really like horror movies, though. Some of them are too scary for me. Jace makes fun of me when he says he wants to watch a horror movie and I don't want to. He says I'm a big baby, but Arren says to just ignore him when he says that. Or to tease him back, 'cause Jace deserves it." And on and on he went. If you weren't used to Ace's exuberance, it could be quite disconcerting and annoying, but both Arren and Jace found it amusing to an extent. Try making Jace admit that aloud, though, and you'd have your work cut out for you.

RE: The Academy's Triple Threat Arrives! (Open to all~)

54

Humans, 54 privately amended, were very strange. There was the red one, who seemed to enjoy cursing very much. There was the white one, who appeared to be a sort of peacemaker. And then there was the yellow one, who seemed to be capable of outpacing the wind through words alone. Not that 54 minded the rapidly expanding vocabulary. 54 enjoyed a bit of conversation from time to time, a difficult feat to accomplish when all 54 could do was echo somebody else's speech.

"Jace," 54 said slowly, trying to organize these three beings. "Is the big one." 54 thought that was the case, since Ace had identified Jace as the antagonizer. The white haired one logically, then, had to be Arren.

"I do like movies," 54 continued in the same halting pace. "I watch them of-t[o]-hi[m]-n[ice]. It's nice to h[orror]-a-[mo]v[ies] [my]st[erious]-off to do. It's my ma[kes]-J[ace]-[horr]or. The wh[y]-[fo]r-d[own]- like it. Some guys like to do[ing] movies so[me] I h[orror]-a-[mo]v[ies] some to watch."

54 admitted, "Some are kinda b[ig]-[t]a-d[o]. But it's nice." And it seemed like maybe it would be nice to have some more words to use. But this was a pretty big improvement over the first copy and pasted thing that 54 had said so that was a victory in itself.

Jace is the big one?

I do like movies. I watch them often. It's nice to have stuff to do. It's my major. The word like it. Some guys like to do movies so I have some to watch.

Some are kind of bad. But it's nice.

RE: The Academy's Triple Threat Arrives! (Open to all~)

The apparently prickly vampire blinked a bit, broken out of his sulking at the mention of his name. He, however, couldn't be bothered to pay attention to 54's attempts at speech, instead growling in immediate reaction. It was only pure luck that 54 managed to finish speaking before Jace lashed out. "Yeah, what about me, you--"

Arren, similarly broken out of his own train of thought, reacted instantly as well, his normally serene wine-red eyes sharpening as he cut the vampire off. "Jace Thomas Nightray." His voice barely rose from the usual gentle murmur, but Jace blanched regardless-- it was Quite Not Good when Arren not only used his surname, but included his middle name, inherited from his hated father, Thomas. He could admit that he was at fault, however, as he knew that one of Arren's few pet peeves was unprovoked rudeness, particularly to someone as innocent as 54. The wizard put up with Jace's irritable attitude and had the patience of a saint, but even Arren had his limits.

"... I apologize for my outburst." The vampire mumbled, only slightly reluctantly, as he turned to the formless blob that was 54. Then, without another word, he fell into the background, though did tilt his head slightly as he recalled a mention of Theatre-- his own interests in fashion design often saw him observing plays and musicals for inspiration.

Ace, meanwhile, had merely fell silent-- miraculously-- to watch the byplay between his adopted family. Outbursts like this had been quite common when Arren had first wanted to include little werewolf into the duo-turned-triple, as Jace had still been rather opposed to the idea. It didn't happen as much now that they all had worked out their relationships and boundaries and whatnot, but they were in a new environment. It was bound to happen, most especially because it had been Jace that was initially reluctant to attend the Academy.

Once the tame-- in comparison to a few of their previous confrontations-- exchange was finished, the wizard turned his gaze to 54, offering 54 a smile. "Yes, the large one is Jace. I'm Arren, and that little ball of energy is Ace." He confirmed for 54 before turning to Ace. "I believe 54 enjoys watching movies, as many of them are required for his major. Theatre?" He paused to question the blob that was quickly becoming-- in Ace's mind, at least-- one of the werewolf's favorite friends before continuing. "54 stated that though some are bad, it's still nice."

The wizard didn't mind translating for Ace, as he knew that the werewolf's attention span wasn't large enough to focus on 54's speech patterns. Ace, however, didn't hesitate to run with it, swiftly starting up again. "Really? I'm glad you like watching movies! We should have a sleepover and watch lots of movies, I'll show you all my favorites and that'll be really fun, right? Ouuu, you're a Theatre major? That's really cool! I'm only in 10th grade, but I really, really, really like history since learning about stuff like that's really cool, yeah? But sometimes it's really hard to remember all the stuff that we're learning, since a lot's happened in the past and we have to learn all about it and stuff!" He continued to ramble on and on, gesturing wildly with slightly clawed hands as he started describing some of the history events that he learned about.
