Personality Description: One thing every power user in the Famiglia Delfino has in common is their personality. Generally great, charismatic leaders, kind with gentle hearts, Salvatore unerringly follows his ancestors. His first reaction to conflict is to talk things out diplomatically and peacefully, though if this doesn’t work, he won’t hesitate to fight for and protect those under him however he can. He has a strong moral compass, which helps his crusade to wipe the Famiglia ledgers clean of blood. He is easily embarrassed, however, and back in Italy, it’s bet upon that his trademark expression is his sheepish grin. He’s fairly down-to-earth considering his mother was a famous fashion designer whose clothes are highly popular to this day, his father was a mafia Don, and now he’s inherited the title of Don. Due to his mother, he has a great love of flowers and plant life in general. He also has a preference for strong tea, though has grown quite fond of espresso after his impromptu time in Italy.

Powers:
  • Stronger power: Called ‘Will of the Past’ by the Famiglia Delfino, the power passed through Salvatore’s blood allows him to connect to ‘imprints’ of the ancestors that held the power, just as he does. This usually manifests itself as tapping into a certain ancestor’s battle skills, or another’s strategical prowess, etc.
  • Weaker power: It is said that every head of the Delfino with the family power had an inner circle of their most trusted, a group that perfectly complemented the head’s personality. They were connected by something stronger than simple friendship, they were harmonized. To normal people, this makes Salvatore seem approachable, almost magnetic in a way. To his chosen circle, this is like a beacon, like someone welcoming them home with open arms. He also has an uncanny sense of perception usually attributed to those of the Famiglia Delfino, though it's debated by the family whether this is an actual power or simply a personality trait of the Delfino.
  • Strengths: By using the Will of his ancestors, Salvatore can be considered, in a loose sense, as an expert in whatever field or skill he’s tapped into at that moment. Not necessarily a master, but much more talented than his normal level. Add his secondary powers to the mix, and he makes the perfect Don of the Famiglia Delfino. His perception allows him to suspect with startling accuracy what will happen in critical moments, and when something important or big will happen, this perception manifests as a keen sense of intuition that’ll nudge him into doing whatever’s necessary at the time. In the most dire of times, his power can even ‘conjure’ a single ancestor per situation that will support and guide him. His charisma and gentle nature has built him a largely loyal Famiglia, whereas those under his father’s lead had been less-than-pleased with the man much of the time.
  • Weaknesses: Salvatore’s main power can utilize only one of the skills belonging to his ancestors. Meaning, if he’s tapping into an ancestor’s physical combat skills, he can only be ‘channeling’ that one skill and not any others at the same time. His perception makes up somewhat for this, but it isn’t as if he can be simultaneously tapping into weapons’ prowess and strategical genius to become undefeatable. Similarly, his main power truly only manifests in grave, life-or-death situations. In any other scenario, Salvatore usually only has his own skills to depend on, but when someone’s life or something equally as important is on the line, his power comes as easily to him as breathing. His current power lessons as the Academy include trying to coax out his power without the pressing need to save someone or something. His secondary power also doesn't make people like him, they just find themselves focused on him more often than normal-- for good or for bad.

Biography: Conceived and born from an affair between his Italian mafia Don father and his fledgling fashion designer mother on the former’s business trip to Britain, Salvatore was initially yet immediately loathed by his father for the simple fact that he was an illegitimate child even though the boy was still considered a viable heir by their side of the Italian mafia, as he still had Famiglia blood. This hatred knew no bounds-- his father had fled the moment he learned the woman he had bedded had become pregnant, not even staying long enough to offer support or be there during the childbirth nine months later to name his son. For all intents and purposes, he had washed his hands of the whole traumatic event and could forget about the pair to focus on his life in Italy. As such, the boy lived most of his life with his mother’s surname, Evanson.

Of course, Salvatore’s illegitimacy soon became only half an excuse-- la Famiglia Delfino has a power passed through the bloodline, though it appears to skip generations if it ‘deems’ whoever of that generation to be unworthy of the power. Salvatore had been born with that power, while his father had been the few of the family that were skipped. The man hadn’t learned of this until a short while before Salvatore’s 12th birthday, of course, but it only served to fan the flames of his father’s hatred.

Just before Salvatore turned 12, the greatest outburst of his power occurred. It had always manifested in some way throughout his childhood, but his undeniable charisma even at a young age had been brushed off as friendliness, signs that he’d become ‘a great charmer when he grows up’.

On a field trip to a London museum in the beginning of the school year, members of a rival famiglia of the Delfino had passed Salvatore on their way to negotiations-- Britain being regarded as neutral territory by their section of the Italian mafia and therefore the safest place to conduct negotiations on business deals and alliances-- and had sensed the aura that belonged solely to those of the Delfino that had the family’s power. Unwilling to pass up such an opportunity, they had kidnapped the unprotected boy and prepared to bring him back to Italy with them to present to their own boss.

The moment Salvatore woke up after being knocked out and moved to a remote location, he knew something was wrong. Then, the men that had kidnapped him started going on and on about ‘what a blow it’ll be ta th’ Famiglia Delfino, havin’ a kid a theirs used against ‘em!’. Salvatore couldn’t care any less for his venomously bitter father, but then they just had to bring up his dear, beloved mother. Overcome by a crystal clear clarity and perception, Salvatore grabbed a crowbar the kidnappers had left lying in the corner of the room and used it to knock his captors unconscious. The moves he used, while shaky due to his untrained, young body and the fact that he was tied in rope, were enough to save him. Curiously enough, they were tinged with moments of stances and movements only an expert in weaponry and hand-to-hand combat would’ve known.

Salvatore’s mother, now a thriving, famous fashion designer for many of the world’s celebrities, had been absolutely outraged upon receiving the call in the middle of a meeting from her son’s distraught teacher and had managed to pull enough strings to get her son back in one piece fairly quickly. It helped that Salvatore had managed to get himself out of the hidden warehouse and onto a busy street, easily spottable by the police tasked with rescuing him.

There was no way to keep the incident quiet on the underworld side of things, however, so Salvatore’s absent father caught wind of it, consequently hating his son even more. The accursed boy just had to inherit what he hadn’t, after all.

After that mess, however, Salvatore’s mother moved them out of the stylish apartment in the city to a sprawling manor in the countryside by the time his next birthday arrived. Much of the land the manor came with had been converted into a beautiful flower garden, as the woman loved flowers and often gained inspiration from them for her latest designs-- she would spend hours a day simply sitting out in the garden with an array of pencils and pens and sketch books, doodling away until the right design hit her. It also helped with her health, being away from the city smog and hustle and bustle, as she had never quite recovered fully from the complications during Salvatore’s birth.

For the next four years, the two lived in relative peace. Salvatore finished secondary school and studied hard for his GCSEs, and later his A-levels, while his mother continued to flourish as a clothes designer. Unfortunately, by that time, the woman’s health began to take a sharp turn for the worse. Within the next year, she became completely bedridden, and by the next year, when Salvatore turned 19, she could no longer fight and succumbed to her illness. Ironically, those last two years saw the creation of the best of her fashion works.

Utterly heartbroken by the death of the woman that had been his rock, his support, his confidant, his mother, Salvatore would have sunken into quite the depression if it hadn’t been for one last, if permanent, issue hadn’t been brought to his attention.

His father and half-brothers had recently all been killed in an assassination attempt, and his father had no siblings. Therefore, Salvatore was the only possible heir for the now leaderless Famiglia-- he still had Delfino blood, regardless of the fact that it was only half of his inheritance. The question of who would become the new Don had been a controversial issue for the mafia, but once Salvatore’s late advisors and closest friends had been informed of his mother’s passing in his father’s stead, per the woman’s will, they realized the young man was the perfect solution.

And so, the year leading up to his 20th birthday was a whirlwind of lessons on mafia etiquette and procedures, the Famiglia’s history, his responsibilities as the Don, physical training, and further educational lessons-- particularly language lessons-- as Salvatore was sucked up into the Famiglia Delfino. He could hardly blame the Famiglia for his father’s lack of care for him, and actually found many, if not most, of the staff and members to be amenable despite being mafia. It was at this point that he found a second birth certificate his mother had been hiding away, which held the strong Italian name his mother had a feeling he’d need one day-- the numerous middle names were all in honor of the greatest of his ancestors. After great debate and inner conflict, Salvatore decided to take this name, which he now goes by.

As he learned more about the more recent history and dealings of the Delfino, however, Salvatore truly began to realize how despicable of a man his father was. The Delfino had been founded and continued on as one of the most powerful and respectable mafia famiglia known for their traditional gentleman Dons, but once his father took the title of Don, he took out his frustrations and bitterness about not inheriting the family power on the Famiglia. The once gentle giant reputation of the Delfino had spiraled down into the lower ranks and was drenched in blood as Salvatore’s father sent them down the road of illegal dealings, specializing in human and drug trafficking.

Salvatore had initially wanted nothing to do with the mafia. His father and his kidnappers all those years ago were his only models, and the more he was learning about what his father had done, the more he wanted out. It wasn’t until one midsummer day, when he was staring out the window at the spacious garden the Famiglia Delfino’s main mansion, that an idea began to form. Looking around his bedroom and spotting a vase of carnations, his mother’s favorite, he thought,

“If the mafia isn’t a place I want to be associated with now... then why don’t I change it?”

And so began his mission to overturn the Famiglia back to its almost vigilante-style old days, when the founder of the family brought kindness and gentleness to the cutthroat world of the mafia, controlling the underworld for the better. Not only would it spite his late father, who had steeped the family name in blood, but it would honor his late mother, from whom Salvatore inherited his compassion.

And yet, there was still another unresolved issue. The Famiglia power requires an inner circle of people to anchor it, stabilizing both the user and their power. As he hadn’t found any of his ‘most trusted’ yet, he was sent off to explore the world, learning from experience while keeping an eye out. Currently, he’s found his way to Starlight Academy after crossing paths with a teacher off on vacation that recognized his holding of a power and, after some encouragement, has enrolled himself as a college student.
