Appearance Description : After a certain incident involving a berserk student, Wong Ha Jung was hospitalized for a month with severe injuries. Like a broken spine, among lots of other bones. Even though the doctors were able to heal him, a lot of the nerve damage couldn't be undone as easily as fixing a snapped rib. He has plenty of difficulty moving now, and if he's not being bothered by near constant pain, he simply won't be able to feel his limbs at all. Random collapses are frequent due to nerves refusing to work correctly. He uses a wheelchair to get around, which he really doesn't like to use. He's still capable of walking but he could easily hurt himself that way if his legs decide to give up on him and he just doesn't have the strength to walk very far anymore.

It's hard to tell now but Wong Ha Jung is six feet tall. Hospitalization and recovery haven't been especially nice to him. He's lost far more weight than is healthy and is slightly bony. It doesn't really help that he's a little incapable of taking care of himself. His hair is cut to his chin and his bangs sweep across his forehead from left to right. More often than not, the color has set itself as black. With the amount of painkillers that he's on, the backlash from not using his powers don't really matter. He has soft facial features and thin eyebrows. His eyes are also black and he's taken to actually wearing his glasses. There are obvious slash like scars on his arms and legs and lighter, ones on his torso that look like teeth marks.

He normally wears a dark grey suit to work, with a light blue-grey dress shirt but no tie because he hates the feeling of things being tight around his neck. When he's not at work, however, he usually wears an brown slacks and ochre colored sweater vest over a cream colored shirt. Since his bad days are starting to increase in number, though, there will be plenty of times when his overall appearance somewhat messy. They're starting to let up, though, which is a plus.

Personality Description : Life has its ups and downs. Lately, things have been going a little bit upwards, which Wong Ha Jung views with cautious optimism. Or nervous pessimism. The point is, things are hard but they're getting better and his meds are operating well. He's a bit quiet these days has a kind and gentle disposition that can seem dreamy. He's considerably less energetic before and less likely to have visible panic attacks. That doesn't mean that they don't happen, though. If he starts looking petrified or doll like, that probably means that he's having one. Occasionally, in the company of close friends, he'll have a visible one anyways. They're a great source of embarrassment for him but routine.

He has good days and bad days. The good days are easy enough to see in comparison and are becoming more frequently. The bad days come in two kinds -depressed and manic, with the former more prevalent. With the latter, he'll become about ten times more talkative and actually come out about the things that are bothering him without people asking. He'll also seem very agitated and be easily frustrated by things. They're not as bad as they've been in the past.

He still likes people but it's both tiring and embarrassing to be around them. He'll still go out of his way to help people but unlike before, he won't go out of his way to seek others. Mostly because he's physically unable to. If left to himself, he'll hole himself away from the world. If a student comes by and actually needs help, he'll do his best to go back to as he was when he first came to Academy and pretend that nothing's changed. Depending on how perceptive the student is and how well they know him, the act may or may not work. Some days, though, it's too tiring.

Because of his medications, Wong Ha Jung spends a lot of his free time sleeping. Because of his increasing work load, he's been more and more separated from people and the isolation is starting to get to him as well, even if everything else is getting better. It would seem odd for him to say so but he's getting bored.

Powers : Wong Ha Jung's powers are somewhat connected to his nervous system. Because of an incident, they are currently not functioning due to interference with the healing magic performed on him. But they might come back some day, once his body adjusts. At the very least, not using them doesn't hurt like it would have in the past.

Major Power : Vermillion Summer - This power turns Wong Ha Jung's hair sakura colored and manifests as an aura of calm and happiness about five feet in radius in all directions. Anybody standing within the bubble will start to feel positive emotion, which increases as they get closer to Wong Ha Jung. This emotion will seem justified to every person but it will seem justified in different ways that fit their personalities, sometimes disturbingly. A person who feels happy when they're doing academically well will start to see the positives of everything they're doing, despite the negatives. A person who feels happy when committing murder will lapse back into thinking over their previous and derive pleasure that way, usually satiated enough to not immediately go committing it again. Actions that are done in close range of Vermillion Summer have a tendency to be reinforced as well.

There is a limit to what this power can do, however, and the full effects of it last only as long as the person is within the bubble. Feelings brought by the aura last depending on how long the person was in the bubble and how close they were to Wong Ha Jung. The longest that this seems to last for is a day. It is possible for people standing outside of the radius to feel very muted effects of the aura. Whenever Wong Ha Jung maintains this aura, he experiences about the same effect that a person standing on the edge of the bubble would.

Minor Power : White Autumn - This power turns Wong Ha Jung's hair white and manifests as a void of emotions about two feet in radius in all directions. Anybody standing in the bubble will start to feel their emotions dwindling away, which increases as they get closer to Wong Ha Jung. This emotion will seem justified to every person based on personality. It does not make people depressed or sad and thus is not a complete opposite to Vermillion Summer. It simply makes people feel indifferent or, at its strongest, apathetic towards everything.

This power, too, seems to have a limit. However, Wong Ha Jung uses it so rarely that he hasn't quite found it yet. It seems to work on about the same principles as Vermillion Summer does, only that its effect on Wong Ha Jung specifically is doubled. On his bad days, he sometimes resorts to using this power to shut down as an alternative to an even worst option of making himself ill. The aura's hold on other people once they have left the bubble seems to be about half of that from Vermillion Summer.

Interfering Powers : Azure Spring - This refers to when Wong Ha Jung uses both of his powers at the same time. For some reason, the interference turns his hair dark navy. When both powers are active, they give people within range of the aura alternating bursts of emotions that can easily become distressing. Since the range of White Autumn is shorter than that of Vermillion Summer, the effect can be avoided simply by staying out of range of the shorter one. People who do this, however, will still feel faint emotions caused by White Autumn. As for Wong Ha Jung himself, since he feels the effects of White Autumn more strongly than the effects of Vermillion Summer, the power of the latter is essentially canceled out.

Non-Power : Black Winter - This refers to the state when Wong Ha Jung does not use either of his powers. His hair color goes back to its original black color and he becomes extremely ill, often to the point of being unable to move. He also develops tactile allodynia from the moment that his powers shut off. Occasionally, while under mild stress, strands of his hair will become black even if his powers are active. The symptoms of Black Winter, however, won't show unless the stress is far greater.

Birth Place / Hometown : Hong Kong

Occupation : Counselor

Father : Huang Dao Xi : 黄德伦 : Huáng Dé Lún (60) Retired Banker, Chef

Mother : : Bai Liu Fang : 白劉芳 : Bái Liú Fāng (51) Seamstress

Biography : Wong Ha Jung is a second generation Protestant born to a couple from Nanjing who had moved to Hong Kong in search of work. His father was a college graduate and chef and his mother was an uneducated but efficient and likable seamstress. It was after they had married that his father converted his mother to Christianity. By some chance, his father came to work for first a bank and then a Japanese ambassador. His mother likewise came to work for that same ambassador. Because of this, their family had saved enough money by the time Wong Ha Jung was at the age to begin high school to move to the United States.

Despite not knowing a word of English upon their arrival, Wong Ha Jung managed to learn the language quickly, being held back only one year in high school, and graduated college with a degree in psychology and Japanese language. He continued on to get his master's in psychology but stopped short of getting a doctor's and backtracked to get a degree in education instead. He had been working as a high school psychology teacher for about two years when he received a letter from Starlight Academy.

Additional Biography Information : Wong Ha Jung has only rarely ever been able to hold on to a serious romantic relationship, with most being broken off because of the effects of Vermillion Summer. More specifically, it has to do mainly with the effects wearing off. His first real girlfriend came about in sixth grade but they broke up before the month had even ended. He continued to be pretty unlucky until late in eighth grade when one of his childhood friends, Lee Mei Mui (李美梅, Lei5 Mei5 Mui4), confessed to him.

Though his parents had already made plans to move to the United States the next year, Wong Ha Jung officially became her boyfriend. Their relationship was long distanced and carried out primarily through letters and phone calls. However, it was surprisingly happy despite their not seeing each other. Wong Ha Jung would always suspect that it was because the effects of Vermillion Summer could not extend itself in those ways. Basically, Lee Mei Mui experienced no sudden emotional withdrawal from its absence. That's what he thinks anyways.

Since Lee Mei Mui was a year older than him, she took the National Higher Education Entrance Examination in the summer before Wong Ha Jung's junior year in high school. However, because she saw her grades as unsatisfactory, she repeated a year of school. There was a brief period of strain in their relationship for the first two months but it soon appeared to smooth out and life seemed to go on as usual. They exchanged letters and phone calls at the same frequently as before. Soon, it was time for Lee Mei Mui to take the exam again.

A few days after the results came out, Wong Ha Jung received a call from Lee Mei Mui's cousin. She had failed the exam again and walked off the roof of their thirty-story apartment building. That was the first instance where Wong Ha Jung consciously turned to White Autumn to get away from his emotions.

He spent the next year constantly under its effects, holed up at home and enrolled in online classes instead of actually attending school. He applied and was accepted to a local college, mostly because of his parents pushing him to it. The effects of White Autumn didn't waver until the summer before college started, when a mutual friend of his and Lee Mei Mui's chewed him out over the phone for missing both her funeral as well as the first anniversary of her death.

Wong Ha Jung responded by locking himself in his room and spending the next week convincing himself to throw off White Autumn. He succeeded. And then spent the week afterwards hospitalized in a coma for forgetting just how badly Black Winter could hurt. In hindsight, that was probably how Starlight Academy found him in the first place. It might have taken a while but somehow, somebody had gotten hold of his hospital records and seen through the not-so clever cover up of why nobody could find anything physically wrong with him and why his hair color mysteriously changed colors overnight.

It was because of Lee Mei Mui that Wong Ha Jung decided to go into psychology. His original plan was a vague idea that he would become a teacher some day, and perhaps something about languages. He did eventually accomplish both but his priorities changed slightly as psychology overcame the rest.

Additional Information : He enjoys linguistics, which is no surprise seeing the family he comes from. Personally, he can speak Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and Japanese. His mother and father both are fluent in Japanese, Nanjingese, and Shanghaiese. His father speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, and some English as well while his mother does not. He has in interest in works like the Tale of Genji. He likes birdwatching and sometimes does paper cutting in his free time.

His powers are named after the Four Symbols in the Chinese constellations. Though he considers one to be a major power and one to be a minor power, the truth is that they're both equally powerful despite the fact that Vermillion Summer has larger range and is more natural to him.

Medical Information : Wong Ha Jung suffers from bipolar II disorder -which dips in and out of rapid cycling bipolar disorder- and post traumatic stress disorder. He's on lots of medication right now. Originally, he only took medication for bipolar disorder but now he takes it for post traumatic stress disorder and nerve pain as well.
