Appearance Description : Being a spirit, Compline has no real form. How she appears depends a bit on her emotional state but her favorite form is that of a five and a half feet tall young woman with long crimson hair that hangs down to her waist except for two circular pinnings on the sides of her head. Her eyes are normally bright yellow green.
Fashion wise, Compline often appears in a Japanese style outfit. Her foreignness however, is betrayed by the fact she wears boots with this.
Generally, this form persists if Compline experiences positive or neutral emotion. When she feels negative emotion, however, her appearance becomes warped, becoming tainted by ominous looking shadows and blood. But this affects her personality and powers not at all.
Personality Description : Compline looks far more reserved than she actually acts, possibly because she stole her main form from somebody she met while dreamwalking. She is by nature a very happy person who can also become very sad very quickly and just wants everybody to get along. She is easy to please and quick to be impressed, with a high degree of curiosity and enthusiasm to see something different. However, she also has a tendency to take things the wrong way and become easily upset when things don't go her way. She can be noticeably immature, which may have something to do with the fact that the human soul she was partially formed from was very young. Though she tries to be responsible and disciplined, the fact is that at heart, Compline is a young girl who never really grew up.
Species Power : Chosen Successor - Compline is a spirit formed primarily from human soul and dreams and thus is intangible and rarely capable of appearing during waking hours, even if somebody is capable of seeing spirits. This is because she simply does not exist in the material realms and also may not enter them. However it is sometimes possible for to appear while people are very sleepy and on the brink of unconsciousness.
For the most part, she is able to freely move between all dreams but any type of negation magic that affects mental magic will hinder her and people with strong mental abilities might be able to force her out. While in a dream, she is able shift parts of the "environment" around her, in order to make it more hospitable and accepting of her presence. This is generally is unnoticeable to the dreamer and serves mainly to integrate Compline into the dream so she can do some real work.
When not in a specific dream, Compline wanders the dream realm, which appears completely real and solid as the material realms except for the fact that it is extremely volatile and changes based on whoever is nearby. Compline is able to bring dreamers into this hub but that can be dangerous to them because the dream realm as well as other people's dreams will not be as accommodating to them as they are to Compline.
Since she is a spirit of dreams, Compline is not easily injured by normal means. Ranged attacks generally do not work on her because the dreamscape immediately around her is slightly different from that of an attacker. The difference causes things leaving the attacking area to either divert course or even reform as something else in the attacked area. However, attacks fueled by dream manipulation or other forms of mental magic are still viable, as well as soul related powers. She can also be harmed by somebody or something standing very near to her so she always tries to keep her distance.
Comforting Aura
Wherever Compline goes, she carries the feeling of a warm, summery breeze that naturally invokes positive emotions and thoughts. This does not create false emotions and thoughts so much as shuffle existing ones around so that the negative ones are more towards the back of the mind. It does not make a person more trusting of her unless they were already experiencing positive emotions towards her. At the worst, this aura will invoke neutrality if somebody hasn't experienced positivity towards something.
Dream Weaver
From the positive emotions and thoughts that a dreamer experiences, Compline can execute large scale manipulations in order to create pleasant dreams, skewed towards whatever the dreamer personally perceives in a positive light. This tends to occur on a small scale without her having to think too much about it, too, resulting in short bursts of good dreams that tend to last a few minutes.
Nightmare Catcher
Inside of dreams, Compline is able to track down sources of nightmares in order to eliminate them. Her very presence in dreams will slowly cleanse the after effects of a nightmare having passed through but the monsters themselves will need more active actions. In order to fully get rid of a nightmare causing creature, she must inject it with positivity, essentially overloading it with happiness. This can be done by manifesting positivity, whether her own or others', and manipulating it into beams that she can aim and fire. Though she tries, she sometimes becomes too scared to do this and must flee, hoping that the nightmare will follow her out to the open dream realm where other successors can help her eliminate it. On the bright side, not all bad dreams have nightmare monsters inside of them, just their taint.

Biography : Presiding over a realm of dreams is a mysterious figure that some may call the Sandman. Nobody knows for certain if there is only one or if there is a ruling collective but for the purpose of being easily understandable, some may refer to this particular one as Lucidum. But not many. To most, this would be the only sandman around.
For centuries, the Sandman worked alone to vanquish nightmare causing creatures and to protect peaceful travelers who are able to freely wander between dreams and the material realms. However, as populations in the other realms grew, so did the number of monsters which appeared. It soon became apparent that the Sandman could no longer function effectively on their own so they turned to the solution that many species use in order to obtain like-abled allies. Procreation, to an extent.
From the echoes of souls left in the dream realm, they fashioned a number of successors and trained them to combat nightmares. The first generation of these were named Matin, Morn, Laud, Prime, Terce, Sext, Even, None, Vesper, and Compline, with the generational heads being Morn and Even. And for a while, the dream realm was at peace.
But as more time passed, there came a need for greater numbers. Not all of the Sandman's successors lasted for so long either. Some parted ways in search of greater purposes and freedom, others clung too tightly to memories of their original lives and decided to pass on. And then some rebelled, as some might in organizations that become too large.
Compline XXXVIII was born into the thirty-eighth generation, born from the soul of Anna Langford, a young girl who had the ability to astral project. The Sandman found parts of her soul drifting about the remains of her home, after her brother accidentally lost control of his powers and destroyed everything and everybody in range. When offered the opportunity to do something more with her short life, she accepted in hopes of someday reuniting with her brother. However, it soon became apparent that this would not come to pass because his natural negation of mental magic prevented her from entering his dreams.
Disappointed but not completely discouraged, she requested a posting to Manta Carlos, where she knew her brother had been sent. There, she wanders the dreams of islanders in order to keep watch over him.
Additional Information : In another life, Compline was the little sister of Joshua Langford. Her preferred height and eye and hair color are those that she had during life but the rest of her looks were copied from Ishikawa Chinatsu, the older sister of Ishikawa Yuuto.
