Name: Sebastien Alaude Crane
Age: "Age is but a number, my dear~" Actual age unknown, appears to be in his late twenties, early thirties
Birthday: "Birthdays? How... quaint." Self-chosen as 2 November
Gender: "Oh my, are you confused?" Male
Category: Citizen, butler to Emory Castelle

Appearance Description:
  • Eyes: Pale green with hints of gray, occasionally appearing a shade of olive green
  • Hair: Pale, flaxen blonde, ending a bit below the nape of his neck in the back, and just below the bottom of his ears on the sides and front
  • Height: 6'4''
  • Weight: 185 lbs.
  • Clothing style: Sebastien dresses quite formally. Since coming to Manta Carlos with his master, he is never often seen out of a black suit and prefers shades of red-dark red for his dress shirts, which he'll wear without a tie and a few of the top buttons undone-- which, in turn, gives him a rather playboyish appearance. On more serious occasions, he'll choose the traditional butler's outfit that he wore daily while living in his master's family's manor, complete with the sharp black tailcoat and switching the red dress shirts for a more professional, crisp white.
  • Distinguishing marks: When exerting his demonic powers in his more human-like body, his pale green eyes will flash a deeper green, almost like emeralds. On his right hand, he also sports what appears to be a tattoo of an elongated cross/simple sword cutting through a circle; it is the symbol of his eternal servitude to the Castelle family.

Personality Description: A demon with quite the hidden mischievous streak, Sebastien often does whatever he can-- without going too much out of his way, of course-- to stir up trouble and chaos. When faced with the antics of certain others, he will gain an almost exasperatedly amused air; especially if it's the antics of his young master, who he will usually give suggestions of his own to create even more mischief.

Regardless of this more carefree, trickster side of him, it is only that-- a single side of him. Normally, Sebastien can be labeled as the cool type. When it suits him and his motives, his words can be as soft and seductive as a gentle breeze, or sharp and caustic as poison-dipped needles, his intelligence augmenting the potency of what is spoken. He walks with a sort of inner confidence that isn't arrogance at all; he can back up the confidence in himself, after all. When given an order, for example, from his young master, he will complete the task with deadly accuracy, regardless of difficulty or complexity. And when it comes to his master, he gains a more serious air that can actually be called mercilessness and/or ruthlessness.

When also touching upon certain topics-- his binding to the Castelle family, for one--, an edge of menace will bleed into his aura and personality, becoming much more like the demonic being he truly is.

Powers:
  • Stronger power: As a demon of indeterminable age-- or at least, he'll refuse to tell how old he is--, he uses inhuman strength, speed, senses, and advanced healing to his advantage, completing his young master's orders perfectly and to the letter in a timely fashion. Despite not needing to eat human food, he is able to create five-star, several coursed meals, and can style one's wardrobe to match whatever situation arises despite remaining quite monotone in fashion himself. Then, he uses the nighttime to plan the next day, as he has no need for sleep, but keeps his guard up to best defend his master should anyone dare to attack at such a time. Instead of giving up the aces beneath his sleeves by using his natural demonic powers, he will usually tote around gold silverware on his person to act as weaponry, the combination of the two making him someone you most certainly do not want as an enemy.
  • Weaker power: He can call up shadow-like blackbirds at will, though they are only able to complete small tasks, such as reconnaissance or delivering messages. Had he not been bound, this would be able to manifest into a more potent ability, but he has learned to accept what he has now.
  • Strengths: With what power he has at his fingertips, Sebastien is capable of doing things that most would find inhumanly extraordinary. There are limits, rules, of course, that even he must heed, but such occurrences where they would be necessary and/or come into play can be avoided relatively easily.
  • Weaknesses: Sebastien is essentially a demon collared and leashed until he is nothing more than a puppy awaiting a command. Bound as he is to the Castelle family, he cannot do much without it being necessary to fulfilling an order or express permission from his master. This fairly limits him to acting far tamer than he would have liked, though that drives him to think of exceedingly creative ways in which to carry out his young master's orders.

Biography: Sebastien had never believed he would find himself in the human world. He, like many other demons, viewed those that inhabited it, the humans, to be grossly inferior and therefore not worth his time.

It wasn't until he was all but drowning in his own boredom that he decided to go out of curiosity. Surely there would be something to entertain him, and if not, well... merciless slaughter was always fun. And so, after arranging for a portal to the human world to be opened, he finally arrived.

How bright and vibrant human-made things were! Cities in particular fascinated him-- seeing so many humans packed into one particular hub of action reminded him of a can of sardies-- though he made sure to visit suburbs and rural areas as well. For a time, he traveled throughout the world, experiencing the different tones of human culture without the burdens a normal traveler would be bogged down by. He had no need for sleeping or eating, and could either steal whatever money and papers he needed or trick transportation officials into believing that he had the legalization needed to travel through each country.

Amazingly-- or unsurprisingly, depending on how one looks at it--, even being a world traveler grew dull, and so he decided to settle down on a whim. He built up a fortune through extremely dishonest means, lived in a palace-like home fit for several kings, had all that one could ever dream to want. And yet, he was still so very bored!

It was then that he had his epiphany. He was a demon. A demon. And yet, he had grown used to blending in with the humans around him. He had become complacent to act like a weak human, a creature that was better off sniveling and groveling before superiors like him and his kind.

That night, he promptly donned his best suit and went on a rampage, slaughtering as many humans as he could and basking in the bloodshed, the terror, the adrenaline-pumping action. After a massacre that quickly became just as monotonous as his life in the human world up until that point, he decided to make a morbid game out of it. Instead of outright death to whoever he came across, he would enter houses, taking strategically chosen victims whose deaths would cause the most suffering to their families.

It was just his luck, however, that one of the males he had killed belonged to an old, old family that dabbled in arcane magic and were quite superstitious and paranoid. The then head of the Castelle family had been resting in bed with his wife, their son innocently slumbering a few doors down the hall. Seeing as how the family was thoroughly patriarchal, the head of house viewed as a responsible, well-liked man with a good head on his shoulders, he decided that the male, the father would be his victim. The death would leave the wife and son with no one to lean on save for themselves. Maybe the wife would even commit suicide sometime in the future, leaving the son to fend for himself!

Sebastien had silently snuck into the house, making his way to the master bedroom where he could sense the couple sleeping. Upon entering, placing numerous wards for silence and privacy, and giving them a good scare, he then proceeded to maim and murder the husband as violently as he could, all while the wife watched in frozen horror. At least, that's what Sebastien had thought.

While he was busy with the husband, the wife steeled herself and began the task of stopping the demon with whatever means possible. She had been inducted into the family's knowledge of the supernatural and arcane when she married into it, and recognized Sebastien for what he was.

Sebastien, realizing too late what was going on, had been much too distracted by the fun of breaking every bone in the husband's body and listening to his beautiful screams-- the wife had already begun the process of binding the demon's powers to the Castelle family, an ironic end she thought fitting. Once he abandoned the already half-dead husband and began fighting back, however, it put an immense strain on the ritual the wife was using. In the end, she gave up her life to sustain the ritual to its closing, and Sebastien was left bound to the only living member of the Castelles, the couple's son, Emory.

What turned out to be quite the kicker for Sebastien, however, was the moment his senses alerted him to the fact that Emory was a changeling, a pixie child swapped for the Castelles' real, human son. The boy's mischievous nature suited the demon, though, and he took comfort in the mischief and chaos he could inconspicuously help his young master in making. As Emory grew older, many more things couldn't be explained away to hide the boy's emerging powers and cruelty, and so, when the invitation to Starlight Academy came, the house staff that had remained after the terrible 'accident' were all too eager to ship Emory off. Not too fond of the devilish butler, they also insisted that Sebastien go as well, though the bindings would have it no other way; Sebastien had no choice but to follow Emory wherever he went, so as long as his young master didn't order otherwise.

Additional Information: The tattoo on his right hand is more than a mere decoration, and represents the chains binding him to the head of the Castelle family. Currently, he is bound to Emory Preston Castelle. A matching mark can be found on an old Castelle family heirloom, which had been used as the focal point of the ritual used to bind him. As such, so as long as Emory keeps the pendant on his person, Sebastien will be able to locate him. There is a distance limit, of course, but considering Sebastien rarely allows his young master out of his sight or senses, it is a moot point.
