Name : Saitou Yuzuru : 斉藤結弦 : さいとうゆずる
Age :
Birthday : September 23rd
Gender : Male
Nationality : Japanese
Category : Student
Class : High School
He likes traditional Japanese dress just fine. It's what he's used to, and he'll wear that whenever he's not in his school uniform.
Personality Description : Yuzuru is a perfectly respectable and proper Japanese young
Yuzuru has an eye for beauty, although usually for things on the more reserved side, and also takes great care to make his actions as graceful as possible. That is part of his training from his now deceased grandmother, Mori Michiyo, who he thinks of very highly. At the very least, these have almost become second nature. In a few more years, he will likely fully grow into them. Despite all of this, it is important to note that Yuzuru has strong opinions of his own and is often unwilling to bend for other people unless there is something in it for himself. Concessions are sometimes made if they have appropriate benefits in the long run but Yuzuru has hazy judgment on making those and more often than not, tends to stand his ground even in battles that he will lose.
Major Power : Reality Censor - Anytime something supernatural occurs or appears, Yuzuru automatically perceives the event, being, or object as completely ordinary and plausible according to the normal rules of reality. It might be outlandishly plausible but still plausible. Also there is no such thing as magic so of course nothing magical happened, this is not up for negotiation. Nope, nope, nope. Not happening. In addition, the Reality Censor negates any power that touches Yuzuru or targets him.

Biography : Yuzuru was born the third child and second son of a family that is decently well known in Japan's magical community. Through his paternal great-grandmother, he is a descendant of the Ishikawa family, which is known for turning out priests. The Saitou family itself is also known for having a variety of lesser magical talents, mostly centered on illusions. Yuzuru was born with the powers of neither family.
Though it is not unheard of for members of the Saitou and Ishikawa to be born without powers, what was most astonishing to the adults was when they realized that Yuzuru could not see the supernatural at all. This discovery was made the day that his own great-grandmother vanquished a demon and shortly died in front of him as a result of having used too much of her power. He was six years old and thought she died of a heart attack, after having reenacting a play.
Attempts to get Yuzuru to believe in the supernatural from that point on completely failed, as people realized that he also had negation powers. Whenever they tried to shove proof into his hands, it would simply disappear or stop working. It was such a losing battle with him that most family members soon gave up and tried to deal with -or ignore- that one strange child who couldn't even comprehend that a part of his family occasionally went out to fight minor demons on a regular basis. Besides, he had three perfectly good siblings who had magic and who also were determined to follow the family profession.
Perhaps taking pity on him, however, he was all but adopted by his grandmother, Mori Michiyo. Magic was not especially strong in her bloodline so though she had been blessed enough to have a moderate amount of it, most in her family had effectively not a drop. Yuzuru latched onto his grandmother almost immediately and over several years, came to think of her as a mother. He did his best to absorb all knowledge that he possibly could from her and set out to be as proper and flawless as he perceived her to be.
But after several years of bliss, Mori Michiyo died. Natural causes, no warning at all. Yuzuru was devastated and suddenly found himself emotionally dependent on firstly, a dead woman's memory, and secondly, a family that he had not probably connected with since he was six. He became unhappy in the household but attempted to bury it in his grandmother's teachings. It wasn't enough. But he grit his teeth and kept going anyways because even though he didn't like it, family was still family. He was supposed to put up with it, with all of the distance and secrets and abnormal hours and silly superstitions that he knew were baseless. Now older, he felt like the only sane man in an asylum.
And then one day, a letter from Starlight Academy came. For his brother, Akira. His parents took one look at it and immediately knew what they would do. Akira, of course, had to be trained properly. By family practitioners, in not just how to control his powers but also in tradition. Starlight Academy was a great option for children without a real magical background, but not for those who had a perfectly well established foundation sitting on their front porch. Not to mention, there was also this lingering sentiment that Starlight Academy was for problem students.
Like Yuzuru. The family gathered together late one night and made their plans. Send the problem one out to the islands and maybe the school would fix him. His parents told him over breakfast the next morning.
He had been incredibly glad about leaving. He wasn't supposed to say it but at least he could still feel it.
Additional Information : He is very good at archery and has taken equipment with him to Starlight Academy. Seeing as he believes the entire place is filled with normal, nonthreatening human beings, he will most likely never use them in combat. Unless something earth shattering happens.
He shares a set of great-great-grandparents with both Ishikawa Yuuto and Yang Ji Hye. He is second cousins with both Itou Hayato and Berlin.
