Biography: Born the only child to a fairly normal couple that lived among the hustle and bustle of New York City, much of Osric's childhood was spent as normal as could be. His mother worked in the main section of the large public library on 42nd street and his father owned a small cafe right off of Bryant Park. They lived in the apartment above the cafe, and up until his 21st birthday, Osric had little to worry about-- aside from finally attempting to realize his dream of becoming detective for the NYPD. He had the exceptional observational skills and intelligence for it, but unfortunately, just a day after his 21st birthday, everything changed drastically.
When he woke up in the morning, he came face to face with a stranger he’d never seen before and promptly punched their face so hard they went flying back to land painfully on the floor of Osric’s bedroom. After that little bump in their relationship, Osric was told of the stranger’s story over breakfast. The strange man was a descendant of a clan that had sworn unconditional loyalty to the ancestors of Osric. Over the years, the stranger’s family has served as tutors, protectors, confidants, friends, and the occasional lover to Osric’s family. Of course, they were both the last of their lines, but the bond between them had changed very little.
And so, Osric began his first foray into the supernatural world. He learned the extensive history of the magical side of his family, was trained in his magic-- and wasn’t that a novelty, learning that his ‘clumsiness’ and ‘tendency to break things he wasn’t even near’ was due to his untrained magic lashing out-- and gained a very important friend and mentor who had first introduced him into his family’s legacy.
By the time Osric knew enough to unconsciously keep a nice hold of his powers, he was 24 and trying for an occupation as a detective again. This time, he wasn’t interrupted and, with the support of his loved ones, easily passed the many rigorous tests. Throughout his time as a detective in such a large city, it was a stroke of genius luck that he began to see a trend, an odd pattern of sorts, with some of the underage cases. Now very well-versed in supernatural abilities and creatures and whatnot, he saw the signs and had a hunch that these were children just beginning to discover their powers.
Over that period, his sharp astuteness and dedication to uncovering the truth-- as well as his name, as it his ancestors were thought of as powerful legends in the magical community-- had gained the attention of the higher ups at Starlight Academy and by the time Osric turned 27, someone reached out to the wizard and offered him a job. He knew he most definitely wouldn’t teach, but it took a little less than a month for him to realize what he truly wanted to do.
He wanted to keep track of all the prospective students of SA and escort them to their boats, which would take them directly to the Manta Carlos islands.
He was already quite used to keeping an eye out for cases in which children are learning that they have powers of some sort, and he was observant enough to know what the children needed, be it an explanation on what they are and what they might possibly be able to do, or reassurance that their families still loved them and that they weren’t alone. Similarly, he quickly cultivated his bright if a bit loud disposition to put worrying little minds at ease.
He easily fell into the rhythm of things, and he was even given the job of becoming a liaison for the Academy and the many of the mage councils he kept in contact with. Even now he still loves his job and wouldn’t trade it for the world. He’s made several friends out of other staff members, and has become accustomed to living on the island. He feels like his own nicely sized apartment in the residential district is just as much of a home to him as his parents’ apartment back in NYC, though does visit them often.
He can often be found wandering the city or the Academy grounds if he isn't out on a retrieval or liaison job.

Powers:
- Stronger power: As a sole descendant from an ancient mage bloodline, Osric is a powerful wizard by both inheritance and his own willpower.
- Weaker power: Slow aging rate/extended lifespan.
- Strengths: Osric has a frighteningly large reserve of power to back up anything he says or does. When he was younger, he suffered from numerous and occasionally dangerous magical outbursts, but now he has a fairly strong grip on his powers. Even still, he's found that he excels in using his magic to create large, vicious attacks; he's better jumping head first into a bloody battle rather than discreet behind-the-scenes stuff. He’s garnered quite the intimidating reputation as a result. He also has an extended lifespan, though can be killed just as easily as any other human. He does have a stronger immune system and rarely is ill, but so as long as he doesn't anger anyone too important, he should be fairly fine.
- Weaknesses: Osric has absolutely no magical tact whatsoever-- 'a bull in a china shop' would be an accurate description. Should you tell him to create an intricate glamour to cover a small area, he would fail absolutely. He can manage to create delicate magical works, such as his pendants, but those take a month at the very least and more likely a handful of months of intense concentration. He still doesn't have full control of his magic, and as such is still prone to accidentally destroying furniture or affecting technology when he's startled out of deep concentration or extremely unnerved.
