Not a very good world? Well, it was just... a world. Environments weren't really good or bad. The people in them could be. "Some people in it were good. They may not have been transported somehow to another place, but they're as gone as I am." He couldn't help but touch the antler fragment at his hip. All he had left, and all he would ever have.

Did she get it now? That being born to power didn't make one suited to power? That having power meant that good people died, and not for good reasons? Coete wrapped a film of snowflakes around himself, trying to find some comfort in the familiar chill, and wished that nothing he said had to be true.

Nope. Not really. She didn't seem to be as cruel as Lenui, though. Perhaps she had some potential. Did he care? Should he care? He ached inside and out, and had almost enough energy to just find a blanket to crawl under and sleep. Sleep forever, sleep until he too was dead.

"They don't...I just..." She paused, before stepping forward to hug Coete. She had once witnessed her father hug an angry member of the council, and the man calmed down. Coraline was latching onto that memory, it was all she could think of to do. "I'm sorry..."

Coete stiffened at the hug, but after a moment pushed away the cold. People generally felt warmer than this princess, and that chill was... hm. He didn't hug her back, nor relax, but neither did he force her off.

"You're sorry for something someone else did, in a world you will never walk, to people you only know through a stranger's words?"
