This is Halloween: Costume Parade

Birthdays were great! Of course, the tiny black hole/eldritch child had never had a birthday before, and didn't really have a birthdate, but they had been assigned Halloween for paperwork purposes.

It was finally Halloween, and thus they were now officially "eleven." Whatever that really meant; they felt precisely the same, only happier because everything was so festive. They even had a costume!

They had had a chance to look through an entire book of ideas, and since scariness wasn't really something they could wrap a tentacle around, much less their head, they had gone with something they found downright amusing - a skeleton. With human eyes painted on their eyelids, because the silly person in the book had eyes and that had been the silliest part!

Of course, they weren't currently using their costume to acquire candy from the houses. No, they were rolling around in a giant pile of leaves, shoving handfuls and tentacle-fuls into their mouth whenever they weren't too busy laughing at the world.

Om nom nom leaves, so much to eat and no one was getting mad! It was so nice to be able to eat, and the black hole child saw nothing wrong whatsoever with eating leaves. Food was food, after all. Black holes were not picky... and they didn't exactly have a sense of taste.

And then someone showed up, and they sighed (and stuffed a few more leaves in) before sitting up. There were still scattered leaves under them, and on them, and caught in the folds of their costume. Someone thought they might get cold, but cold really didn't bother eldritch black holes. An autumn chill was nothing compared to space, after all.

"I'm just playing," they said innocently. Awwww, the big fluffy guy thought they were spooky? "I was going for silly more than spooky, but that's okay." They blinked - the paint on their eyelids was honestly the most annoying part of the costume - and tilted their head at the stranger. "What are you being?" Their knowledge of earth creatures was still limited.

So tall. The guy pretending to be a gorilla was just.... so tall. The tiny black hole child, just a little over three feet tall, was honestly kind of amazed. They weren't intimidated, no - that was something they had yet to learn, being a nigh indestructible eating machine with much to learn about social life - but they were pretty amazed.

"I've never seen a gorilla," they said, and laughed at DAVE's attempted noise. "You sound silly." They put another leaf in their mouth, only to have a bit of wind nearly snatch it from the gaping endless black. Their tiny fingers were stronger than they looked, though - not hard, given their size - and the leaf was devoured without chewing or apparent swallowing. It simply vanished into the infinite darkness.

"I'm hungry," they said simply. "And I'm not allowed to eat trees or stuff attached to the ground like benches, but no one's said anything about leaves!"

The child stretched to peer at the tiny screen, and then glanced back and forth between it and DAVE. Well, the glancing itself might have been actually visible if the child had more to their eyes than infinite blackness. Without sclera, irises, or pupils, it was... difficult to determine the path of their gaze.

At the offer of food, though, the child was spectacularly easy to read. Food meant excitement - for a moment. Then they simply tilted their head and stared at the 'gorilla.'

"I don't taste things," they said. There was no particular sorrow or wishfulness to the statement. It was simply that, a statement. "But I like food!"

"I like colourful!" The black hole attached themself to DAVE's leg, coiling head and leg tentacles around it even while hugging with their actual arms. The child weighed next to nothing, but the most dramatic part of a hug from them was usually the radiating warmth of their head tentacles - hot just shy of discomfort for average humans.

They had no idea what mouthfeel was like, but they were all for pretty and colourful. "Where is it where is it?"

Okay, uh, no.

Suddenly a cat woman wearing a witch costume marched over to the suspicious gorilla and odd tentacle child. She had a pissed off expression on her face. She gently reached over to pry the child off of the gorilla.

"Hey, you shouldn't wrap around strangers like this~"

She aimed a sweet smile at the black hole child. She adored children. The moment the child separated from the person she would then aim a swift kick to the primate's nether regions. Her leg was charged with magical energy to enhance the effect.

"Quit being a creeper!"

The temptation to arrest the person was high.

Elizabeth was very excited for the Halloween parade, she liked seeing all the student in their creative halloween outfits. She herself had been creative and painted her snake parts to look like a skeleton, and had a very spooky skeleton mask (It is not spooky it is very cute like in Spookys House of Jumpscares she thinks that things like that are spooky).

But oh no! Some of the students look like they where about to fight! That wasnt ok! She was already tearing up a bit as she slithered over to them as fast as she could waving her arms and shouting. "Noooo! Dont fight!"

The black hole child tilted their head back until they were looking at the newcomer completely upside down. And then blinked, and let themself be pried off. "He's not a stranger, he's going to get me food!"

Wait, why was he yelling? The child skittered to hold onto the new lady's leg instead. "You're loud," they said primly. "Didn't you squish? You don't need to yell over it." Sometimes dealign with people was difficult when the black hole/eldritch kid completely forgot that most people weren't so thoroughly invulnerable to physical damage.

Kiara was glaring at DAVE with fiery vengeance in her eyes. The only thing that soothed her rage was the odd child clinging onto her leg. Once she felt the tentacles wrapped around her, she eased up and gently patted the kid. Her glare lessen. However, the story was way too suspicious to trust. She wasn't convinced by this.

"Have you ever seen this person before? Are you or your parents familiar with this individual?"

Mama Kitty was still in protective mode. She gave off the law enforcement sense in her voice. When someone approached the group, she eyed them. A skeleton lamia slithered over to them saying that they shouldn't fight. She sighed and decided to explain.

"This gorilla man appeared to be preying on this unattended child, so I acted rashly in order to separate the two of them. While I may be off duty, I am still a cop."

She pulled out her police badge and ID and flashed it. They would clearly see that she was not only a cop, but she was also Police Commander.

"If your intentions are pure, then surely you wouldn't mind me joining you two?~"
