Name: Tarryn Everette Wells, often called Terry by his father, Karl Robert Harrison Wells, owner of Wells' Whales Well - Done Steak and Seafood
Age: "I'm-- I'm-- *holds up ten fingers, then blinks and frowns* I don't have that many fingers..." 11
Birthday: "Oh! September 26!" 26 September
Gender: "I'm a boy, silly!" Male
Category: Student
Class: Elementary School, Fifth Grade

Appearance Description:
  • Eyes: Large, doe-like brown eyes, occasionally said to have faint ruby-like specks in certain lights
  • Hair: A light, pale brown that's normally cut in layers down to his jaw with several strands flying every which way
  • Height: 4'4''
  • Weight: 80 lbs
  • Clothing style: Tarryn prefers comfortable summer clothing that is easy to move around in, favoring soft t-shirts with bright stripes or patterns, shorts of neutral colors, and sneakers and flip flops, though will also often wear sets of canvas bracelets and a bandana his father got him
  • Distinguishing marks: A rather slight build and delicate facial structure his father explains he's inherited from his mother

Personality Description: Despite sharing the nearly never-ending well of energy all boys his age seem to have, Tarryn is a rather perceptive, serious child and has a sense of curiosity that oftentimes lands him in trouble; fortunately, the trouble he finds himself in is usually harmless. His manner of speaking is surprisingly straightforward in light of his tendency to be somewhat shy around strangers-- he tends to cling to those he knows, which is usually his father--, as it takes a bit of time to get him to completely open up to you. Once he does, though, you'll be considered a best friend for life and dragged along on play dates and trips to the beach, regardless of your age. The air of bashfulness that surrounds him is normally absent whenever he's roaming the Wells' restaurant, as he views this place as a sanctuary, a part of his home; this is true, considering their home is right above the restaurant.

He tends to keep fairly quiet, as he knows his father works long and hard to keep the Wells restaurant up and running and doesn't want to bother him, but whenever he's allowed to go outside and play, his happy shouts and childish exclamations often float on the island breeze. He enjoys spending time in his father's restaurant and has pretty much become a fixture in the place, easily greeting the regulars and staff with easygoing familiarity, but absolutely adores and can usually be found following his dad around in the kitchen.

Powers:
  • Stronger power: Partial astral projection negation. Tarryn has the ability to 'anchor' a projected spirit to a radius of about five feet (current maximum) around himself-- anyone near him that attempts astral projection will find themselves bound to that five feet radius around Tarryn.
  • Weaker power: Soul/spirit sight. Tarryn is able to see spirits that are being astrally projected as if they were standing right in front of him in their own bodies.
  • Strengths: With more training as he gets older, Tarryn has the potential for total control over both of his powers. He will be able to increase the radius the projected spirit is bound to, as well specify as to who he will and will not anchor. At the peak of his control, he might be able to make the projected spirits temporarily tangible while bound to the radius around him.
  • Weaknesses: Tarryn's stronger power usually only works on his father's episodes of accidental astral projection or during times of intense emotions. His current classes schedule is preparing him for later classes in which he'll work extensively on gaining and maintaining control over his major power. For the time being, however, he only really is able to ensure that his father's soul doesn't wander too far away from him whenever the man accidentally projects.

Biography: Born to Karl Robert Harrison Wells and an American woman, Tarryn Everette has lived his whole life being raised by his single father. Yes, his grandparents-- his father's parents-- have helped out along the way, but Tarryn has always known how hard his father has worked to provide for the both of them and raise him to be the healthy, happy boy he is today. As such, he looks up to his father greatly and absolutely adores the man.

Much like his father, however, he was an early bloomer when it came to his powers. What Karl hadn't known was that the woman he had slept with all those 11 years ago had her own power, in the form of a type of magic negation. This, combined with the power he had inherited from Robert, created Tarryn's partial astral projection negation. Neither Tarryn nor Harrison had realized that he could possibly have a power, but when Tarryn was six-- several months after his father had bought and built up the restaurant--, Karl collapsed right in front of him, giving him quite the scare. He watched as his father's spirit left the man's body, and in a fit of fear and desperation, Tarryn wished with all his being that he could keep daddy close.

What happened next, no one could have predicted.

Tarryn's eyes glowed an eerie white and an invisible wind seemed to pick up, circling around the boy in about a five foot radius. When both the glow and wind died down, Tarryn cheered as he saw that his father had remained by his side, just as he had wished it. With a bit of experimentation, the two concluded that Tarryn was able to anchor Karl's spirit to a circular area five feet in every direction. Initially, this left the boy very drained and sleepy, but by then he had been enrolled in Starlight Academy's elementary school and his new teachers had reassured both him and Robert that he would be given the foundation that would help him in future powers classes to control his power.

Five years later, Tarryn has gotten a basic grip on his negation power. He barely flinches when his father unconsciously projects his spirit, reacting almost automatically to anchor Harrison's soul near him while quickly and efficiently making sure his father's body didn't hit anything when falling to the ground; a part of the reason Tarryn tends to follow after his father like a little duckling to its mother.

He is content with his life as it is now, and if he isn't trailing after his father in the Wells' restaurant, can often be found exploring the Academy grounds or running around the expansive beaches of Manta Carlos, splashing around and laughing happily.

Additional Information:
  • He was given the nickname 'little duckling' by the staff and regular patrons of the Wells' restaurant for his tendency of following his father around.
  • He has an extensive shell collection from all of his adventures on the beach.
