Alexander Donein

Donein raised an eyebrow as the girl accused him of spreading the nightmares. He shrugged, and took another sip of the...now blood red liquid. What was he drinking...? Donein's eyes snapped open both now the same color, a pitch black that seemed to suck in light from the room. He stared directly at Compline, as if peering deep into her soul.

"͝An͝d͘ w̶h̵y̷ can'̸t̛ I?̶"

His voice, and his entire body for that matter, seemed to glitch out of the dream in different parts, looking like a video error coming to life.

Compline

It was like being on some sort of bad emotional rollcoaster. The moment when Compline started to doubt herself was the exact same one where everything managed to become even more frightening than before. The girl took a few steps back as the man's eyes snapped open and shivered at the sound of his voice. Oh my God. She knew what monsters were and so she could say that whatever he was, he was definitely worse.

"B-because that w-would make people unh-happy," she stammered, feeling crushed by his presence. "We shouldn't do that..."

Alexander Donein

Donein laughed loudly, banging his hand on the table. The wood warped under his palm, bending smoothly as if it were made of butter. Donein continued to stare directly into Complines eyes, the pitch black orbs staring at seemingly all of the poor girl at once. Donein stood and began to walk towards Compline, but...

When Donein would bump into the table, he simply...Wasn't.

It was difficult to explain, and even within the dream realm, it was a confusing sight. The portions of Donein's body that would have-Were supposed to be touching the table just stopped, the abomination walking through like nothing was even there. His waist was constantly shifting and glitching, like a horrible disc error.

Donein quickly closed the distance, and leaned over Compline, bringing his hand up to lightly run a finger down her cheek.

"So? Happy, Sadness, ̷Jo͞y̵,͏ ̛Ąnger. They are all but for naught compared to the bleak eternity of the void. Compared to a being such as me, or even you, th̵èse are but mere conc̡e͘ssions in the space of a lifetime. The human em͡o̸ţio̧ns͟, they exist only to bring meaning to the a̶ctions of the human subconscious. I have see͡n҉ b̢e̡yond̀ t̡he veil of time, beyond the cracks in ͝s͜p̴ace."

The being gestured to the room around him, still slightly warping and glitching from his mere presence.

"Why shou̧ļd́ ͢Ì ͏not give these dreams a taste of the true horror̶s͡ o̧f t̷h͝iş r͟ea҉l̵m? My dear, making people un͘h҉àp̀p͠y?̸ What lies behind the veil makes these mere ́d̛iśt͘óŕtíơn͞s ̨l͠oo̴k ̕l͡i͘k̶e ̀a̧ fuc͡k͞ińg͝ p͏icnic͟."

Donein's voice continued to glitch, getting worse as his explanation furthered. He continued staring directly into Complines eyes, seemingly staring into her soul. Even should she try to close her eyes, she would likely still feel his gaze. Cold, sharp, unforgiving....And patient.

His voice never changed tone above one that wouldn't be out of place behind a lectern at a university, even with the glitches. He sounded less like the madman he truly was, and more like a stern father explaining the facts of life. He could stay here all day, until Compline agreed with him.

Then he leaned forward, whispering into Complines ear, his voice cold and dripping with vile.

"Tell me again, my dear. Why should I care about these d̪̱̘̩͈ͪͣ̓̎r͚͓̻̙̺͊̇e̹ͦ͗ͫ̏a͈͓̲̤͊̐ͣͣ͆m̟̓̉̀́͢s̯̰̺̩͊̔ͦ̃͡?"

Compline

Compline was not a physical being and therefore, in theory, could not be harmed by those who did originate from the physical world. Worlds. The thought gave her no comfort now, as this section of the dream world suddenly fell into an unnatural state of controlled chaos. Even in a nightmare, what was happening now was extremely extraordinary and if Compline had been more of the kind to appreciate rarity like that, maybe things would have gone over a bit more favorably.

It was lucky that she didn't need to breathe and also couldn't die of heart attacks brought on by pure fear. The finger that stroked her cheek felt like slime but Compline couldn't even shiver, let alone run away.

"B-because," she croaked, voice failing abruptly midway. "B-because-"

There were plenty of arguments to this. Plenty of good arguments that she knew by heart because the last ten years of her life had been spent living them. But this, this was where Compline's true nature stepped in and unfortunately took center stage.

What exactly could a ten year-old girl say to a monster to make it leave?

Alexander Donein

The abomination grinned calmly as Compline croaked. He could feel the fear rolling off the girl in waves, his natural abilities absorbing it. He stood up to his full height, laughing lightly.

"Come now ҉m̛y dear,͞ ̨Don't stam͡m̕er. It's qui҉t̡e̷ rude yo͜u͠ ̢k͠now͝.͘" He shook his head, before glitching through the table again, returning to the seat he had originally be in. He brought his hand to his mouth, a teacup appearing mid-movement. He felt his physical body beginning to awaken, and frowned. Oh poo. He was quite enjoying toying with this spirit.

The glitches in his body began to intensify, the room quickly degrading. Donein stared directly into Complines eyes as he began to glitch out, fading away slowly. He smiled, a calm grin that could chill lava. "I'͠ll͝ ̢see̷ y͏o̶u͡ ͞so̢o͠n͏, ͜my ̸dea̢r.̡" His eyes never left hers as he faded away, his gaze seeming to linger the longest.

He was having this dream again.

Lochlann had not had this dream in a while. He was sitting on the ground outside and listening to the noise these horrible birds made.

They were called woop poor wills, or something like that. They probably wanted his soul, if he had one, anyway.

"Does anyone know how to shut these birds up?" he asked.

Vanora Lawful

Sitting on a rocking chair over a heap of her defeated enemies, Vanora was violently knitting a scarf out of pure liquid sunshine. She had gotten it from a small girl who had come by earlier and she was determined to catch the moon when it fell.

As she worked, a big, golden harvest moon was starting to dip towards the horizon where she sat. Yes, in just a little while, she would be in the perfect position to cast her net.

Lochlann was being belted with breakfast foods.

He was embarrased because he had a container of syrup in his pocket, and the more they pelted him with pancakes..and then waffles...the more afraid he was that the container would break and cover the two ladies in maple goodness.

"Why don't we stop this bullshit and just have crepes?"
