Lazy days started in the afternoon for some. Tazhee was one; strong sunlight and heat bothered his eyes, even if daylight didn't set his flesh alight. Besides, the dark was entertaining. It was full of shadow and danger. The sketchiest people came out at night.

It wasn't night yet, but the autumn was pulling the sun down and it was already noticeably darker in the streets than it had been. The crowd was starting to shift. The kids faded away, and the legal businesspeople. The teenagers lingered, and the nocturnal ones started to emerge. It was a wonderful time for things to happen, when the hunters began to creep among the naïve. Tazhee was a hunter, though mostly from boredom. Not entirely, but mostly. He was growing hungry, but he didn't feed at random unless the situation was delightfully appropriate. He had blood at home that would suit him just fine.

He did so love live blood, though, and he didn't have any of that kicking around. Perhaps he would be lucky. Perhaps he'd find a tasty immortal -

or perhaps someone would be unlucky enough to catch the chupacabra's eye.

Ooooooooooh, like that one. Deliciously innocent, and probably caught out late unexpectedly. The sort of person that shouldn't be there, and wouldn't be expected to be there.

The sort of person who would be hard to trace in the dark, hoping to solve a missing person report.

The chupacabra strolled over casually, smiling but lips closed over his array of teeth. His copper eyes glinted with their own fire, and his tail coiled and recoiled lazily behind him.

"You look a tad lost, m'dear," he purred. "Would you like some assistance?"

Victoria was rushing about the rows of stores on the market strip really late that evening. Oh she was late, she was monstrously late that evening! She had planned to cook a....romantic dinner for her and Derek, not that she planned to confess, she didn't deserve him, but it would be nice to just make him a good meal after all.

Unfortunately she had gotten absorbed in her studies and when she looked up it was nearly time to begin making dinner, so she had quickly rushed out to grab ingrediants. She left without telling Derick, he would just ask too many questions, and she wanted this to be a surprise!

When the man approached her however, she took a step back, nervous and frightened by the emotions she could sense within him. "Um, no thank you, i'm just getting stuff so I can make my boyfriend a surprise dinner," she explained, thinking that saying that might make him go away.

Tazhee's grin grew a little wider. This kid was afraid. He had no particular magical abilities that let him detect emotions, but there were advantages to being immortal and playing this game so often.

He took a step forward, not directly towards the girl but starting to circle around behind her. He only moved a little bit closer, but that was usually all he needed. He did so love this game.

"Your boyfriend? Isn't it getting a bit late for such a young, sunny thing as yourself to be getting ready for dinner?" Perhaps she did have a boyfriend, and perhaps she was preparing to meet him.... but even if she did, he was quite confident that his questioning would unnerve her.

And then he smiled gently, as much threat vanishing from his face as he could manage. "The streets are growing dangerous. Would you care for an escort? I can assure you that I will not allow anyone to lay so much as a breath on you."

Other than his own, anyway.

Victoria was no fool, and with her ability to both sense and manipulate emotions, she was perfectly aware of his attempt to hide his intentions from her, and she simply tried to get further and further away, hoping to god she could just run soon.

"I just got distracted studying, so as you can imagine i'm running late as it is, and I really need to get back home and cook this for him before he starves to death," she replies with a giggle before frowning at his next question.

"Um no thank you, I don't think my boyfriend would really appreciate anyone walking me home, so i'll just be going now," she said and quickly tried to walk past the man without another word or glance.

"VICKY!"

Derek came running in. He was searching everywhere for Victoria back at the house. Good God, that girl had a way of making him panic. Why would she leave the house unannounced?! Didn't she know that would make him worry? Night time was no place for pretty adolescent girls to wander around by themselves! There were horrible, terrible people and creatures of the night that would hurt his innocent angel! He couldn't allow for that to happen! So once he figured out she was gone, he put on his clothes and ran out of the house to pursue her.

It took him some time, but he was able to locate her within the city. He was at first relieved until he noticed the guy circling her. That guy had creeper alert written all over him. His sanity quickly dropped at the sight of him preying on his precious Vicky. Who the hell did he think he was?! He stormed in and went to grab the girl's hand.

"Vicky, why would you leave the house without telling me? Who the hell is this guy?"

He didn't want to upset her, but he was not about to let some asshole hurt her. This man screamed untrustworthy. Concern flooded the Yandere's mind.

Fear. Fear was so much fun. Did the girl really think that she could just walk away? That she could somehow outrun him?

Well, she might have a chance... if she were hiding a superspeed power or teleportation. Otherwise she was entirely-

Tazhee eyed the intruder. The boyfriend? A well-timed rescuer? His words made the chupacabra smile, and this time he showed his teeth. Well well well. Overprotective, wasn't he? Not a fan of letting his girl out of sight, was he?

He stepped right up to the newcomer and looped an arm over his shoulder. "Hey hey, bud. I'm just looking out for this pretty little thing here."

Victoria truly didn't know whether she ought to be relieved or terrified when Derrick grabbed her. The touch sent electricity through her body and she simply stared at him in disbelief, not able to comprehend the fact that he was really there in front of her.

When she finally felt how real he was, albeit because his touch was painfully hard on her shoulders, she threw herself against his chest and sobbed in relief, thanking god he had made it. Now she was safe, Derrick would protect her, Derrick always kept her safe and warm.

She tensed as she heard the man approach however, and instinctively backed away from the pair to get away from them, her small body trembling as she glanced btween the two in absolute dread.

Did this fucking bastard just touch him?! Oh hell no he didn't! If Victoria wasn't right there, then he would've ripped him to shreds. He was confident enough to take this asshole on. He wasn't aware that his Eldritch status might not have been enough for the immortal vampire chupacabra, but like hell if he was about to have this jerk take Vicky from him! Derek promptly removed his arm from around his shoulders and glared as he stepped closer to Vicky. Vicky was clearly terrified by this man, so he had to be bad news.

"I can take it from here. Vicky, let's go home."

The Yandere went over to embrace the scared girl. His senses were on high alert. His only goal was to get Vicky away from this creep as soon as possible. If he wanted to start some shit, then he could just outright fuck off. His sanity depleted even more because of the stranger's potential threat level rising. Seeing his princess scared alone was enough to bother him.

Oh, the rescuer was pissed! Tazhee let himself be 'removed' and let his chest ripple with silent laughter. He had really drawn the winning ticket with this one. Boredom goodBYE!

He prowled after the retreating pair, muscles stretching and contracting like liquid shadow. Normally he was bloody liquid shadow, but for now all of that delicious food was racing around intact veins, vibrating with adrenaline and fresh supplies of glucose.

Tazhee made as if to come up behind Derek, but then slipped sideways to run the tip of a red-painted claw along the back of Victoria's neck. He bent in slightly and let his breath play across the side of her face.

"There's no need to go home just yet," he purred. "There's so much fun just waiting for us."
