"Aw," she said genuinely. She could sympathize with meeting someone who seemed so nice at first and then finding out that they weren't so nice. The Unicorn was at least secure in the fact that she was always the exact same degree of nice all the time. Which, admittedly, wasn't that nice, but at least she was consistent. "Don't worry about that then. I'm very nice."

Aeon laughed as the cat spoke, then suddenly started purring loudly. He sounded like a jet engine, or a vacuum cleaner. The full-body vibrations made her hand shake intensely. Realizing how loudly she was laughing, the unicorn quickly covered her mouth. "You like to purr, don't you little guy."

She called him little, but he wasn't that much smaller than her.

Of course he liked to purr. Purring was a very strong indicator of happiness, and happiness was good. He liked good things, and he liked being happy enough to purr.

This was such a logical stretch that he didn't interrupt his purring to share it. That would defeat the purpose, in a sense. Bah, purpose. He was getting pets, and he wanted more.

More pets. All of them. He wanted them all, right now. She wasn't petting him as much as she could, and therefore Audrey flicked his ears out of the way and headbutted her.

Unfortunately, he did so with the mindset of a housecat. Housecats were normally much lighter than the people they headbutted.

Aeon was happy to pet the kitten, but when his ears flicked down she first though that he was displeased. Then when she was headbutted she was more than a little taken aback.

Considering that she'd just been petting a kitten who seemed to have the most delightful temperament, she was shocked when it seemed to attack her.

The unicorn leaned back from the headbutt, using her arms to catch her and keep her from falling off her bed. Aeon was a horse, so her body was more muscular that it seemed. She weighed more than one would think.

But she still thought that her and this human ghost cat couldn't have... weighed that much differently.

Now she wasn't petting him at all, as she stared at him in surprise. "I--..."

Audrey blinked at the confused girl. Why had she stopped altogether? She was supposed to pat him more, not less. Less made him sad, and his tail curled in hesitant confusion.

"Why did you stop?" he said, his voice very small and very sad. He turned his gaze fully upon her, eyes enormous and liquid. "I don't want you to stop, I want you to pat me more."

With the sadness, confusion, and need to speak, the purring had vanished entirely, and all that was left in its wake was a set of sad kitten eyes.

There was a moment of silence before something seemed to click. The headbutt that a cat would do was an invitation to pet, a request for more contact. Perhaps he'd been trying to headbutt as a cat and not as a person?

That seemed to be confirmed when she was asked to pet him more. She straightened up and returned to petting, using both hands this time for maximum petting.

"You could have just asked you know," She said, he soft smile returning to her face.

Audrey immediately melted against Aeon, eyes closed and all sadness replaced with a lazy smile and fresh purring. Yaaayyyyyy pats, pats were the best, he loved pats.

"I did ask," he said between breaths. That was what the headbutt was. Duh. Didn't she get that?

That she clearly hadn't really gotten it escaped Audrey, and he didn't even notice the flitting truth to chase after it like a butterfly.

The kitten's mood seemed to improve the moment Aeon returned to petting. She smiled and kept this up, secure in the fact that she hadn't been headbutted to be rude.

When Audrey insisted that he did ask, Aeon just chuckled awkwardly. "Well... maybe ask with your words next time."

She wondered if he had the same peeves as a cat. If he disliked belly rubs like the cats she'd patted. Aeon rubbed the itchy space between the shoulders as her other hand scratched behind the ears.

Cats, much like dogs, seemed to have a sweet spot just behind the ears.

Oooooooh this was nice. See, wasn't it a good thing he'd headbutted her? Now she was petting him better. Words were super overrated. He hadn't needed them before, and he'd convinced her to pat him just fine, AND words meant not purring. He couldn't multitask like that, it just didn't work.

OH.

EAR RUBBING.

Y E S ALL THE YES

Audrey pressed against Aeon, purring ramped up almost frantically as he shifted to give her the best possible access to his ears.
