Amphy was still wandering around the forest at this time of night, although his exhaustion had started him in the direction of his hut. The faun's hut was small, with only three rooms total.

The inside was surprisingly toasty, despite the fact that the house was made of mud and wood. It was unsettling, with a cauldron bubbling over the fire and plants and herbs covering most surface.

It still seemed pretty homey though.

THERE WERE SO MANY MOVING THINGS HERE! But some of them were mean moving things, things with teeth and scary eyes and fur like dogs, and those were mean even if they probably couldn't hurt him anymore, mean and scary, and he didn't want to be near the mean and scary oh no no no .

So when Audrey saw a little hut ahead of him, all warm and comfortable-looking, he pushed in through the door without opening it and huddled against it, hoping that he had left the scary mean things behind and that they couldn't get in here.

Oooooh, this place was pretty cool! Audrey quickly forgot his fright and crept around the hut, poking his nose into things and sneezing and batting at plants to see how springy they were.

Then he found a fireplace, and it was game over. He immediately curled up in front of it, pulling at the edges of his vastly oversized hoodie for a pillow, and wrapped his tail around himself, a little package of cloth and velvety fur. His breath slowed, and then he was asleep, just like that.

It didn't take long for Amphy to get home. He opened his door and closed it behind himself, melting into the warmth of his house when he saw.... something on the floor.

Living in the woods, he was used to creatures getting in, but they usually left his door open, or his window broken. Everything was perfectly undisturbed when he got back. It had probably been a person, then. Amphy moved around quietly, grabbing some snacks and taking some water from the bubbling cauldron to make tea with while his.... unexpected guest slept.

For a while, the movement and noise around the sleeping catboy went entirely unnoticed. Not forever, though. No, eventually the little noises worked their way into Audrey's dream, and his hands and feet and tail began to twitch as he 'stalked' the mysterious noises.

And then he woke up all at once, surprised out of sleep by his own dream, and sat up so fast that he actually drifted off the floor a few inches.

He blinked and scrubbed at his face with the back of a hand, yawning more than wide enough to show off his very feline mouth, and peered around.

Amphy had paced around his little hut a few times, collecting things that he has a taste for and his phone so he could sip tea, eat cookies, and giggle a little like a school girl as he messed around on social media debating on if he wanted to text Ardos a smiley face right then. The drow would be working right now, so he elected not to.

He looked up as his guest woke up, floating in the air a little.

Ah, that would explain it.

"Hello there, friend." Amphy said, taking a sip of his tea. "Do you want a cookie?" He tried.

Amphy watched the creature closely. He'd already figured out that the person in his house was a ghost of some kind, and now he was certain that they were a ghost cat of some kind. He wondered what happened. He decided not to ask. Spirits could be touchy about that kind of thing.

The faun took a cookie from the plate in front of him and handed it over to the cat. "There you are. What brings you to my humble home this evening?"

Audrey pounced on the proffered cookie with glee and open excitement, and then dove past his host (and through some furniture) to roll on the ground with it and chomp it into bits. "This is so goooooood!" Chomp chomp chomp, bat at the crumbs and make a complete mess.

Oooh that crumb was escaping! Audrey sprang to his feet and darted after it. He returned after a moment, striped hair askew and hoodie slipping off one shoulder because he'd stepped on the sleeve.

"Ohhhh there were mean nasty dog things outside, I don't like dogs they're mean," the kitten said, more petulant and angry than scared now that he'd had a nap and some nummy food. "But then I saw this place and there was a fire! I like warm. Warm is nice and snuggly."

Amphy watched, clearly bemused as the kitten took the cookie from him and chomped it into crumbs, chasing the crumbs around the small hut like they were his prey attempting to escape the mighty hunter that was the ghost cat. The faun had to cover his mouth to keep from laughing out loud.

"I'm glad you like them. My boyfriend made them for me." Of course, Ardos had made too many, but the thought meant the world. He was really unsure how he was going to eat all the cookies, but he would eat them all eventually.

Hearing what brought the kitten to his hut, the forest guardian nodded. "Yeah, they can be scary."

"Oooohhhhh you have a boyfriend? Is he nice like you? I bet he is. Especially if he made cookies. Good cookies!"

HIS MUSIC BOX WAS MISSING! Pleasure abruptly became panic as the catboy raced back and forth across the room, trying to find the little wind-up box. No no no no no he couldn't lose it nooooooooh there it was.

Audrey tucked it back into his hoodie pocket and fixed his hair with the back of a hand. There, that was much better.
