Evangeline couldn’t help but feel a bit confused by the sudden changes of Loch’s behavior, however, she had met guys that were a lot worse on said area, so she tried t shrug it off the best she could.

However, there was…something that kept her interested on Lochlann, she couldn’t really put her finger on what it was, but she just chill, it was probably her angelic instincts kicking in again, telling her that this guy needed help, just that.

So a walk, well, that could be just perfect, they could just relax once more and then start a casual chat to meet each other more or less better, a chat where she would carefully throw one or two questions here and there to discreetly start piecing his problems together and maybe help him out if he allowed her to do so.

“Sure! You look like quite an interesting guy to be sincere, mind if we talk while we walk?” She wasn’t sweet talking him to chat with her, or at least not completely, she sincerely thought of him as an interesting guy after all

Talk with him? Sure. It could help distract him from how badly he wanted to pull her under the dark waters of the lake and kiss her until she was soft and pliable and--

Gahhh get a grip, Lochlann!

"Yeah, that would be nice," Lochlann said. "I hope you don't mind--I need to grab my backpack quick."

He picked it up and stuffed his discarded shirt in there, too. It was a hot day and he didn't think twice about being shirtless in this kind of weather. Lochlann also tucked his flask into his pocket, and then tossed his back-pack over his shoulder.

"Why don't you tell me a bit about yourself?" Lochlann prompted as they walked. He'd lead her on a path into the woods, one that circled the lake--but kept a healthy distance from it.

Evangeline just shook her head a bit as an answer before he went to pick his stuff. She waited patiently before he returned and started to walk at his side, though allowing him to guide her steps, wondering if this walk was just going to be a random casual one or if he had a place in mind.

“Well, if you couldn’t tell by now by the wings and the halo, I’m an angel” As she talked she flapped her wings elegantly “And as I told you before I’m new around Manta Carlos”.

She quickly made a list of things that she would prefer to avoid telling him just now, mostly to avoid scaring him or weirding him out. The last thing that she wanted was to have a bad start with Lochlann after all.

“I’m also what you would call a passive angel, since I have no offensive abilities at all. I have ways to defend myself, but that’s it” She knew that her halo could transform into a rather deadly sword, but she would only use it in extreme cases when she felt endangered, so she still considered it a defense and nothing else.

“What about you, Lochlann? Would you mind telling me something about yourself?”.

"I don't know much about angels," Lochlann admitted. "I mean, I knew you weren't quite a fairy, but my only experience with angels has been in books."

He entered the woods and took her down a path, and once the lake was out of view, Lochlann relaxed a little bit more. He took his flask from his pocket and took a sip.

"I guess that means there's offensive angels then?" Lochlann asked. He had a thoughtful look on his face while he tried to piece together what he knew about angels from books with what Evangeline was telling him now.

She was asking him to tell her something about himself?

He shrugged.

"I don't really do much between school and work," he admitted. 'Uhh...I just graduated high school here and I'm starting college in the fall. I thought I was going home but nope! Here for four more years."

Evangeline nodded with a small chuckle “Most angels on the offensive area are known as warriors. They’re the ones in charge of keeping the demons and some other creatures in check. I was surprised when I found out that Manta Carlos had none” With so many demons around, as well as potentially dangerous creatures, she would expect to see several warriors walking around the place constantly, but there was none, and if there was any, she hadn’t see them.

So, he was about to start college…that was actually pretty nice and relieved her a bit. Usually creatures that still were within school-age were a bit more open minded than the full grown creatures, and consequently they accepted the need of help and the help itself a bit more easily.

“Well, I guess that staying four years is worth it if you finish college” Evangeline looked at the flask on his hand…she knew more than enough to know that the drink inside it was alcoholic. However, it was a bit too soon to jump into conclusions just yet.

“What are you drinking?” She asked casually, mostly out of curiosity and in an attempt to pick up a bit more of info.

For some reason, her comment about the warrior angels made him laugh.

"I don't know if a bunch of warrior angels walking around would really relieve the tension a bunch of kids who just discover they have magical abilities are feeling," Lochlann mused. "It'd make it seem like this is even more of a prison. Nothing like feeling you're guilty just for existing."

Sometimes, he dreamed about leaving this place. Othertimes he imagined he'd stay here forever.

Four years being worth it to finish college? Lochlann shrugged.

"I guess," he said. "Four years is really a long time. I just want to go home."

He chewed on the inside of his cheek, then took another sip as the path wound. It was a peaceful trail, and he was glad they took it.

"So you're here for work--are you stuck here, too, or do you get to leave whenever you want?"

A bird flew by,and Lochlann stopped to try and figure out if he could tell what kind it was. She asked him about his flash and he shrugged.

"I honestly can't remember," he confssed. "it all tastes the same by now. You want some?"

Evangeline hadn’t really considered things from Loch’s point of view, but maybe he was right. Not everyone was used to have not-exactly-friendly angels wearing a full armor and several holy weapons walking around the place, even some of the newcomers of heaven had a tough time getting used to them.

At his next comment she just gave him a warm smile and patted his back a bit in a comforting way. She understood him better than he may think. Being a purifier had its downsides as well, one of them being that she had to stay away from home for really long periods of time, and more than once she couldn’t help but wish that she could just go back, at least for a couple of days.

“Well…hum…I can leave for a day or two if I really need to, but out than that, I guess that I’m just as stuck as you are, Lochlann” Leaving during a mission was forbidden unless she was called by a superior or if an emergency occurred, and even then, three days was her limit, if she stood away for longer she would be in a really high risk of getting in trouble with her superiors.

She looked at the flask for a second or two “I think I’ll pass for now” She tried to be as polite as possible. She felt a lump on her throat, though she tried to dissimulate it. If he couldn’t even tell what he was drinking by now it means that he drinks a bit too often, was he an alcoholic? And if he was, why?

“So…is the lake your favorite place of the islands, or another place steals that spot?” She pushed him gently with her shoulder, in a friendly and playful way, just to relieve any kind of tension that may still be around at the moment.

"So you really are just as stuck as me then," Lochlann said, frowning. "Well, sucks for both of us."

He raised his flask and took a drink in acknowledgement. When she didn't accept his offer, he twisted the lid on it and slipped it back into his pocket and didn't press the issue.

His favorite place on the islands?

His dark brows furrowed together and his mouth settled into a straight line while he thought about that one.

"It is really relaxing," Lochlann admitted. He used to avoid the lake when he first came here, but he definitely preferred it to the ocean. It felt more like home.

"There's a place in the woods I really like, it's a waterfall, and the lake it spills into goes deep. I'm not sure how deep. But there's trout and it's a lovely place. That might be my favorite"

He was about to ask to take her there but changed the subject.

"So angels..do ya'll live in heaven? Or is it like hell and there's multiple dimensions and stuff?"

A waterfall in the woods? Well, that probably was quite a lovely sight, but it also allowed her to know that he was of the loner type thanks to his description. Somebody that liked to be around friends, or that at least had a group of friends, would mention a time or two spent on their favorite place with them, or at least give a hint or two.

So…he drinks often and is a loner…

“Well…not all of us, but most do. And yes, there are different kind of heavens, depending on the beliefs of those that die, each one ruled by a different entity…however is really hard to know which one came first and that has always been a main discussion topic between them for eons”.

She never had been on one of those discussions before, but for what she had heard they weren’t exactly pretty, with every ruling entity trying to prove that they were the original, the creators…it was extremely confusing…

“I’m of the kind that only goes to heaven when my superiors call for me, I had been living on Earth since I can remember. I must admit that I really like it here, though, there is always interesting going on somewhere, you just need to look around carefully to see it. And those treasured moments are always better when you have someone to share them with”.

"That sounds complicated," Lochlann said. He furrowed his dark brows in thought. "I guess it makes it pretty hard to be agnostic knowing that angels and hell and things like that are real."

He was musing on this for a while, and his face and posture reflected that he was lost in thought as they walked. He was definitely relaxing more.

"You do have a point--it doesn't really get dull here," Lochlann conceded with a dry laugh. "In class once, this kid sneezed and accidentally caught the person sitting in front of him on fire. That was ah.....not something that I was used to seeing in school."

Sharing moments with other people? He mused on that one, too.

"It must have been hard leaving your friends behind to come here," Lochlann said. He glanced at her quick, making sure he wasn't being too presumptuous or pushy, and then he shrugged. "I suppose. Everything does seem more fun when you're sharing it with another person. It makes eating more enjoyable. "
