Personality Description:
Powers:
Wendigo Default Traits:
The Wendigo may appear to be fragile creatures at first, but their strength and speed had surprised, and terrified, mankind for generations. They can easily dismember a human being with their strength and move really quickly, to the point where sometimes humans thought that they could move so fast that the human eye couldn’t see them. That’s obviously exaggerating the truth, since they can’t move that fast, but they still can easily outrun any human without much effort.
However, given their size, they can’t run for long periods of time without becoming exhausted and being forced to stop and catch their breath, so they must rely on ambushing techniques most of the time to catch their prey successfully. Even if they can indeed stalk their prey, their size makes it difficult to stay hidden or not make noises, so they need strategic points to hide instead of just follow them around.
He can hear even the softest noises, like the beating of the heart of their prey, regardless of where they can be hiding. Their sense of smell is way better than that of a hound and they can follow even a really old track without much issue. They have perfect night vision, to the point where sometimes humans thought that they had infrared vision. This come with the downside of hyper sensibility, reason why wendigoes are strictly nocturnal creatures. The sunlight, or any bright lights for that same reason, will blind them and harm their sensible eyes, strong scents will overwhelm them way too quickly, and strong sounds will confuse them and force them to retreat.
Native Americans had to deal with this species fairly often, and consequently they designed some very specific amulets to keep his species at bay. Wearing one of these amulets will assure you that he won’t attack you, but as soon as you take them off you’re doomed.
Healing and revival:
A wendigo can heal from any wound made to them fairly quickly, not instantly, but still quicker than most creatures. However, a wound made with a weapon made of pure silver will take a really long time to heal. Fire can also cause great injuries on the wendigo, and though fire isn’t as lethal as silver it can indeed leave them incapacitated for prolonged periods of time. Its fairly hard to kill a wendigo using only fire, but possible.
Now, just because conventional weapons can’t kill him and he can heal from wounds made by them quickly it doesn’t means that they are simply useless on him. He still feels the pain on all its intensity and enough wounds will be more than enough to leave the wendigo incapacitated for a certain amount of time. Long range weapons are obviously the best for this feat, as it allows you to cause enough damage to escape from one without the risk of getting hit by one of his attacks.
What would usually be an obvious cause of death under normal circumstances, such as beheading, stab through the heart or something related, if done by a weapon that isn’t made of silver, will make the wendigo fall and be completely incapacitated until they can recover, which can go from some hours to even days, depending on the kind of injury and what was done to their body right after.
Killing a wendigo isn’t impossible, but if a very specific ritual isn’t followed it will revive after some time.
The Curse Of The Wendigo:
Probably, the worst part of being a wendigo if this specific curse. Wendigoes are always hungry and their main priority is to feed. They can eat almost everything, but anything that isn’t meat will taste awful on their tongue, to the point of making the wendigo nauseous with the simple idea of eating it, to the point where they aren’t even able to swallow it…or keep in inside their mouth for more than a couple of seconds without a huge urge to throw up.
They can eat meat non-related to humans/humanoid beings, but this is only on extremely desperate situations, as it won’t satisfy them, and as soon as their fast metabolism digests that kind of meat they will only feel hungrier than when they ate it. Imagine that doing that would be like drinking large amounts of water to feel satisfied for a small period of time, but nothing else.
He may be intelligent most of the time, but the longer he stays without feeding on human/humanoid meat, the more the feral instincts of the wendigo will slowly take over his mind, turning him into one of those mindless killing machines that are described on some of the ancient Native American legends. And even after feeding they will never feel truly satisfied.
It isn’t so surprising that he’s constantly trying to find his next meal, not only fearing this starved state of his species, but also because he is always bound to this curse. It doesn’t matters how much he eats, it will never be enough, he will never feel satisfied, hunger being his permanent companion.
Nature link:
A Wendigo’s link with nature grants him the ability to modify the weather. Usually they only can create storms or blizzards to confuse and weaken their prey.
This kind of power is tightly linked to the wendigo’s nocturnal nature, and consequently they can only use them in the dark hours of the day, and his territory. In other words, he will only be able to modify the climate in the extension of the forest that he has claimed as his own from sun fall and until dawn. Outside his territory and after/before that time of the day his powers won’t work at all, no matter how hard he tries to summon them.
His powers have a limit though. For example he NEEDS snow to be able to summon a blizzard, and he can’t just force the weather to change from a warm night in the middle of the summer to a violent blizzard. This part of his powers are tightly linked to the season and temperatures that surround him. Unless the climate is cold enough for him to summon a blizzard the best thing he will be able to summon is a storm.
He can’t go to the point of creating actual natural disasters such as hurricanes or a local ice-age, or anything that could potentially threaten the nature around him. A storm in the middle of the night wouldn’t harm the forest of its inhabitants, the worst thing it could do would be to force the night creatures to find shelter or make a couple of burrows wet, but out of that everything would be ok. A hurricane, well, now that would be a huge threat to the forest and its inhabitants for obvious reasons.
Wildlife kinship:
Wendigos can be terrifying creatures that prey on human and humanoids, but surprisingly enough they are extremely peaceful around the native wildlife, it’s more probably they you get hit by lighting five times in a row and live to tell the tale than a wendigo killing any animal on their territory. The only way that this could happen is if they are desperate for food, and even then they will only hunt natural prey of the area.
It isn’t unusual to see other predators of the area around the wendigo, given that they are always willing to share their kills with them, especially in times when the food is scarce. They can also call the beasts they had befriended before so they aid them, but they can’t force them to do anything against their will. Also, they can’t really communicate with each other, so they need to understand the situation and body language of the wendigo to act accordingly.
Biography:
Mat wasn’t always a Wendigo. He was a common human kid born in an average Native American tribe. However, when he was barely five, an extremely harsh winter hit the tribe. His tribe wasn’t used to harsh winters, they never even had to deal with snow before, so it was obvious that they weren’t prepared for this terrible time.
During the first weeks they rationed the food as much as possible and sent several hunting and gathering parties daily, but sooner than later the food ran out and the parties always arrived empty handed. Desperation started to make itself present among the starving tribe, the elders warned everyone in the tribe many times, but it was obvious that they were the first to go down, succumbing to the famine and the terrible winter.
With no elders to guide them and desperation only growing stronger between them it was only matter of time before they committed the blasphemous act of cannibalism in an attempt to stay alive, awaking the malevolent spirit that haunted those lands.
Mat, being so young and not fully understanding the terrible act that he was committing was of the first ones to give in to this act. While the rest of the tribe members that committed cannibalism were immediately killed by their companions to avoid the curse that they knew they had awakened, his parents hid his crime, hoping that the malevolent spirit of the place had mercy on him because of his young age and innocent mind, their paternal love clouding their minds and making him deny the truth.
Mat became severely ill as the malevolent spirit entered in his body, losing a lot of blood and vomiting way too often. Only after a day or two the kid succumbed to the illness and died and his parents buried him. After some time, out of the grave with once contained a small child, crawled a fully transformed wendigo, a small young one, yes, but not less dangerous.
If any other of the members of the tribe could have become a wendigo, he didn’t gave them the chance. The already weakened tribe could do nothing against the beast they and this winter had created.
From that day, Mat grew as a wendigo, his memory of his past of a human being so scarce that he soon forgot completely about it, making him a ruthless man eater which held no regrets. He saw tribes come and go, and after some time he witnessed several of the most important events on America.
He only grew stronger as the time went by, scientific discoveries making those who once feared him and ran away from his territory as soon as they heard that a wendigo inhabited that area stop believing in his existence. In a fun turn of the events this only made him get easy preys more often than not, which was obviously a good thing for him given his insatiable hunger.
After some time he learned to transform into a more human-like form to be able to go into more populated areas without causing as much chaos as he used to, and drag more prey into his territory.
He wasn’t stupid though, he couldn’t stay too long in the same place if he didn’t wanted to be caught, so as soon as the mount of disappeared people started to drag the attention of the authorities he moved to a new area.
You can consider it luck or maybe not, but now he arrived to Manta Carlos, and just because this place isn’t as full of humans as others it doesn’t means that he will feel discouraged, after all, hybrids and humanoids usually taste just as good.
Additional Information:
How to kill a Wendigo:
In order to permanently destroy the Wendigo, one must stab or shoot at the beast’s heart with a weapon made of pure silver (A silver dagger or silver bullets, just to give an example). The Wendigo’s body must then be dismembered with a silver-plated axe, and each piece of the body must be salted and burned to ashes (which must then be scattered to the four winds). Failure to follow these procedures exactly will inevitably result in the Wendigo’s resurrection.
If only fire is being used the silver weapon, dismemberment and salt parts can be skipped, however, this takes a lot longer and the wendigo will try to fight while being consumed by the flames, or try to run away before being killed. Once the wendigo becomes nothing but ashes these still must be scattered to the four winds though.
Age: 574
Birthday: January 29
Gender: Male
Category: Citizen
Appearance Description:
Humanoid form:
- ~ Around the 6’10” in height, 143 lbs in weight. Yeah, he’s severely underweight.
- ~ Extremely pale skin.
- ~ Sunken glowing golden eyes.
- ~ Messy hair that changes colors depending on the climate (Being brown on summer and snow white in winter).
- ~ Sharp claws instead of nails.
- ~ Sharp fangs instead of normal teeth.
- ~ He’s extremely skinny, to the point where if all his clothes were taken away, all his bones could be easily seen.
- ~ He has an overall weak and unhealthy look, but don’t get fooled by this, he’s a lot stronger than you would expect.
True form:
- ~ Around 13’6” in height if standing straight, however, he usually crouches, what makes him look a bit shorter. Around the 300 lbs in weight.
- ~ He has a vague human appearance, as he walks on his legs like one. However, out of that he looks a lot more like a huge anthropomorphic elk.
- ~ Glowing golden eyes.
- ~ He has hooves instead of feet.
- ~ His arms are unusually long and he has what appears to be something half way between human hands and bear claws. The claws he has are also longer than you would expect.
- ~ He has long sharp fangs and no lips. Where his lips should start to grow there is only bloody shreds of flesh.
- ~He has a long disgusting dark blue pointy tongue.
- ~ His bones are clearly visible, just like in his human form.
- ~His fur color changes from station to station just like a common animal to help him to blend in with his surroundings.
- ~His body overall seems to be in a state of decay, like if he died at some point and revived a long time after his body started to rot.
- ~No animal, vampire or creature overall would even try to attack him with intentions to feed, not only because it would be extremely dangerous, but also because his flesh and blood are actually already rotten, it would be the same as trying to eat a corpse that had been rotting for way too long.
- ~Even if his flesh and blood are rotten already, there is no disgusting smells coming from him and his rotten organs work as well as if they weren’t. How wendigoes manage this, even he doesn’t knows, but he neither cares. Something that must pointed out is that the wendigoes do have a very distinctive smell and anyone with sharp enough senses, or that is close enough, would easily identify it.

Habits/Hobbies: Looking at the animals of the forest, messing with his prey’s mind.
Skills / Talents: Tracker, intelligent, tormenting his prey.
Personality Description:
- ~Intelligent: He may not look like it, especially when he’s on his true form, but he’s just as intelligent as any human, if not more. He knows exactly what to do and when to do it to make their prey scared, and even panic, so he can have an easy kill. If someone makes a mistake there won’t be second chances. (Levels of intelligence are directly affected by his curse though)
- ~Hungry: Mat is always, and I mean ALWAYS, hungry. This is one of the main reasons of why he is so dangerous, he will never stop looking for prey and will kill and eat anyone that falls in his vicious claws, no questions asked. He doesn’t cares about money, he doesn’t cares about power, he just wants to get rid of the awful hunger that, thanks to the curse of his species, will never be satisfied.
- ~Stubborn: Once he picks his prey there is nothing that can be done to make him drop the hunt. The hunting will go on until either he or his prey dies. He will go to any lengths to procure this food, no matter the risk or possibility of injury.
- ~Tormentor: When he hunts, he stalks his chosen prey for long periods of time. His prey only has a dreadful feeling of being followed. He prefers to terrify his victims before moving in for the kill. When he had enough of stalking the victim, he usually lets out a growl or a shriek, which resonates through the forest and usually is more than enough to terrify his prey, to the point of blind panic. He usually does this until the prey’s sanity wears off, running wildly into the forest, becoming easy prey for him.
- ~Tricky: Mat has all kinds of tricks under his sleeves, and several years of experience had allowed him to polish these and even make new ones to use against those who he picks as prey.
- ~Vengeful: Mat won’t take a defeat well, and he immediately will make it top priority to get revenge on whoever managed to defeat him, though usually his revenge has fatal outcomes.
- ~Mysterious: If you don’t know him he can prove to be quite mysterious, rarely revealing any kind of info about himself and even acting a bit oddly. Out of this he can appear to be quite harmless and even nice to keep around. However, this is only a disguise to make prey lower his guard.
- ~Formal and polite: When in his human form, he usually wears formal clothing and has an overall polite behavior that would make him look as anything but he murderer he really is.
- ~Fire: He really despises this thing, the only thing that hurts more than being burned is silver. This is a fairly effective way to keep him at bay for some time, but even the fire won’t stop him from attacking if he’s hungry enough.
