Biography:
Born and raised on the cold and treacherous peaks of the mountain where her family has lived for generations, the events in her life are sincerely…common within gryphons of her kind. Hunting, interacting with her family…she didn’t interact with humans until she was around 10 years age, and it was completely accidental.
She got separated from her parents and lost during a reckless blizzard, not being able to see a couple inches in front of her, and with her left wing broken after being thrown off the skies and crashing on the hard rocks of the ground thanks to the strong winds, she had to ty to find her way back home walking while calling for her family, though it was nearly futile as the blizzard drowned her words. Fate lead her to a small human village…and what wasn’t her luck when she found a door unlocked and took refuge on the currently lonely building, which was a library.
She wasn’t stupid, she had been home schooled by her parents for quite some time by then, so she knew how to read. Knowing she had no other option but wait until the blizzard was gone or at least lost some of its strength, she grabbed a random book. It was a Sherlock Holmes one. It was at that time that her dream to become a detective was born.
After finding her and hearing about it, her parents hoped it was nothing but a temporary obsession, something she was going to grow out of, but it wasn’t. After a long talk between the two several years later, they finally handed her the letter that had arrived from a place called starlight Academy some years ago, as well as all the letters that came after it. One for each school year that passed and that they had hid from her, fearing the dangers of the outside world and even more those that came with her dream…but knowing that if they didn’t let her go she would try to chase her dream in way more dangerous ways they finally decided to let their little hatchling go, but not before giving her a gift so she could remember them.

Appearance Description:
- ~She is slightly larger than the average snow leopard at 2”6’ at the shoulder, her weight is of 85 lbs.
- ~Having the front half of a snowy owl, she has beautiful snow-white fluffy feathers with dark tips covering her front half. Even her front talons are covered by her thick plumage, giving her perfect protection against cold climates.
- ~She has the back half of a snow leopard, with fur just as white as her feathers and the spots being of the same dark coloration of the tips of her feathers.
- ~Her tail is really flexible and long, being just as long as the rest of her body if not more.
- ~Her ears start mostly rounded, resembling those of a snow leopard until the tip where they are slightly pointed with a tuft of feathers at its tip.
- ~Her claws and beak have the same dark coloration as her spots/feather tips.
- ~She’s quite agile and her slender figure clearly shows this. She can climb with relative ease, regardless if she’s climbing a tree, mountain or anything else, and her long tail gives her great stability even in the most treacherous of terrains.
- ~Her eyes have an ice-blue coloration.
- ~She wears a bracelet made of snow on her right talon, over her feathers, which has a blue piece of ice that looks like a gem, both the snow and ice from her home. Both were carefully crafted and enchanted by her parents and given to her as a gift before she left. These will never melt, even in thrown inside a volcano, nor shatter, regardless of how much strength/pressure is applied to it. Unsurprisingly, it is extremely cold to the touch.
- ~She has some cute fluffy light blue ear muffs she wears most of the time. Not because she’s cold, but as a precaution because of her extremely sensible ears.
Personality Description:
- ~Big Dreamer: Kay dreams big, she sees herself as the gryphon version of Sherlock Holmes one day…no, not like Sherlock Holmes, even better than Sherlock Holmes! Her dream is to be the best detective ever, solve all the crimes and help make the world not only safer, but the safest it can ever be.
- ~Book worm: She always has her beak in one of her detective novels whenever she can. She has great knowledge on all writers and characters. From Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle to even nearly unknown, she knows them all. While reading she secretly replaces the detective in the stories with herself.
- ~Good listener: She is great to listen to those around her, but not only on friendly terms she’s great. If in the middle of an interrogation she’s especially talented to pick up clues in the story or voice of the one being interrogated, like hesitation, incoherencies in the story or changes in the voice that could be suspicious.
- ~Great observant: Since she read her first detective novel she has been training herself really hard on a daily basis to have the same great observation skills as those in the books. While it had paid off incredibly well, making it really hard to hide any details from her, she still needs more practice to tell the whole background of a person just by looking at them for a couple seconds like Sherlock Holmes does.
- ~Great memory: Almost photographic, her memory is simply and bluntly outstanding. She can remember clearly events and details that most people would forget easily after a minute or two.
- ~Skilled tongue: She knows how to speak and when to speak to make the most of her words. Call it sweet talking or even threatening, she always have great choices of words to achieve her goals.
- ~Confident: Maybe even a bit too confident, she believes in her skills and is convinced that she can get better quickly if she only tries. Unluckily this also causes her to overestimate her own abilities a bit too often.
- ~Extroverted: Always willing to stat a conversation, go to parties with friends and comfortable in large groups of people. While not exactly a social butterfly thanks to her preference of books over people, she could certainly be it if she just tried it.
- ~Quick to judge: She tends to judge too quickly those around her, sometimes even based only on words told to her by her friends or a quick look. It is fairly hard to get her to change her opinion on someone once she judges them, though not impossible, you just need to bring her evidence and, in the worst cases, get her to see it.
- ~Bad under pressure: While confident in normal circumstances, if faced by pressure she tends to crumble. She gets nervous, stutters, can’t think right, overall becoming a wreck of nerves that can completely block her. She’s trying very hard to overcome this issue, but it’s clear she needs help.
- ~Pessimistic: Even with her confidence, she tends to be quite pessimistic. While this causes her to not be struck as bad if the worst turns into a reality, it can indeed cloud her judgement and even make things worse than they were already at times. An example of this being thinking someone as deceased if they hadn’t be found within a couple days of a lost person report being filled.
- ~Bad to follow instructions: Mostly caused by the overestimation of her abilities, she tends to drop the instructions given to her and rush in to solve mysteries and such on her own thinking she can handle things. This had caused her to ruin carefully made plans by her superiors or get in trouble several times before when she realizes that she can’t actually handle what she threw herself into.
Species Abilities:
- Flight: She can fly using her wings just like any other gryphon, reaching a maximum speed of 50 mph (80 km/h), however, if her feathers get ruined in any way (ripped, burnt, wet) she won’t be able to fly. While she can carry someone, it must be for a short period of time, as she’s not between the strongest of her species. Also she can’t carry anyone that weights over 200 lbs.
- Heightened senses: Kay has a great sense of sight, being able to see many times better than any human. However, her greatest sense is hearing, which can go to the point of being unmatched by most creatures. However, this also makes her ears really sensible, making loud noises annoying or even painful to her.
- Enhanced agility, flexibility and speed: While she lacks the strength most of her species is known for, she makes up for it with flexibility, speed and agility. While this comes quite in handy when climbing, going in narrow spaces or having to go somewhere quickly, she is at a huge disadvantage if ever forced to fight someone or if dealing with heavy objects.
- Gryphon characteristics: Eating anything that isn’t meat or fish will make her fall severely ill. Also she needs to eat them raw, or rare if for some reason she really needs to. To help on her flight and speed she also has hollow bones, but unluckily this kind of bones tend to break way more easily than the solid bones other creatures have.
Powers:
Cryokinesis:
- ~Create ice: While she prefers to use ice or snow already present, as its way easier, she can create ice if she really needs to. All she needs to do is to find a source of water and freeze it to later on use it (She can’t manipulate regular water, only ice). Unluckily this takes some time and the most she can freeze is up to 500 gallons right now, though freezing that much water can take her around 30 minutes. While she can freeze the water in the air she’s still not really skilled in this area and can only freeze up to a single gallon in 15 minutes. Her ice, however, will melt like regular ice, but hopes to one day make ice that won’t melt like her parents can.
- ~Shape ice: She can give any shape to the ice she creates or finds, only limited by the amount she has and her imagination. However, the most complex and bigger the figure the longer it takes her to make it. She can only work with up to a full litter of ice at the time.
- ~Manipulate ice: Through this ability she can manipulate the ice to her will, like make it levitate or move towards someone at her command. However, even if she can freeze up to 500 gallons of water, she can only manipulate up to 3 at the same time for now, needing a good amount of focus as she needs to keep eye contact with the ice she’s manipulating. Losing eye contact for more than 5 seconds or something breaking her focus makes her lose all control.
- ~Temperature control: Her last trained ability, while her parents could easily make the place around them turn into a cold tundra, she can barely make the temperature on a radius on only 3 meters around her drop up to 10 °C.
- ~Ice kinship: She is unaffected by cold, able to tolerate terribly low temperatures without any trouble. This, however, makes her be quite uncomfortable an even get heat strokes on warmer climates, as well as extremely weak to fire (regardless of if it is natural or created through magic). A fire spell that hits her will inevitably leave her in critical conditions, and a good landed one can even kill her.
