After a while of flying over the blue seas Coatzin finally could see the Manta Carlos Islands getting closer. She knew that she could’ve taken a ship or any other kind of transport to get there, but she really loved flying and this gave her the perfect excuse to do it. She wasn’t going to deny that the long trip made her wings get a bit tired, and now she barely moved them at all, allowing the breeze to blow under them and do almost all the work.

It didn’t too her more than a couple of minutes to finally reach the islands, the academy on them silently greeting her as she started to descend, searching for a nice spot to land without much trouble. She had to admit it, she was fairly surprised with the great variety of students that the academy had, her interest growing bigger after each second that passed. She gracefully landed on a patch of grass a couple of meters away from the rest of the students, folding her tired wings and wrapping part of her tail around her waist and abdomen in such way that it almost appeared to be part of her clothing, before walking towards the main entrance, looking everywhere with curious eyes. She wasn’t surprised when she noticed that some students looked at her as she walked, probably they were just as curious towards her as she was towards everyone around her.

Her feet carried her through the halls of the academy, her eyes scanning the whole place and happily moving tail allowing anyone to know how interested she was. She stopped when she reached her destination, the admission office. She entered and sat on one of the free seats of the waiting room, putting her purple backpack down, trying to decide if she should try and make some friends or take out her Nintendo 3DS and play to pass the time instead.

Summer months.

Cytus had done hundreds of applications throughout the year, easily besting some of the more veteran counselors. But as these hotter days approached, students found themselves out of school more often than not, and those that were enrolling did not immediately have to jump into classes unless they so chose. Needless to say, her workload had gotten considerably lighter, and many of the colleagues that Cytus worked with had also taken a vacation.

And yet, here the lady worked, more vacation time saved than most, and probably more hours worked in the last few months than several of the others combined.

Not that the others minded. It made the whole admissions process that much smoother. Normally, Cytus would have a couple of other interns working with her, but today, the load was so light that she could easily take the singular student sitting in the lobby.

"Excuse me, have you already been helped?"

Despite only a couple of others in the office, it was a standard question.

"If you haven't, my name is Cytus, and I will be happy to assist you if required."

Cytus waved to her office, should the new student actually need anything. A few other students had particular officers assigned to them...often the more problematic ones. Thankfully, there were supposed to be no such thing today, but who knew.

After looking around, Coatzin decided to grab her 3DS and play for a tiny bit. The waiting room was almost completely empty, and it didn’t surprised her at all, most of the students and teachers were taking a vacation with their families or just chilling somewhere on their own. Well, at least this allowed her to relax her wings instead of having to fold them tightly against her body to not bother anyone and let her tail just go limp, or as limp as it could be when she was as excited about everything going on around her as she was at the moment, instead of having to wrap it around her body and chair to avoid having people tripping or stepping on it all the time.

After putting on her DJ headphones on with a low enough volume to allow her to listen if anyone came towards her she started to play the videogame that was currently in her handheld, which ended up being TLOZ: Ocarina Of Time. She was so focused on her game that she didn’t noticed when the somewhat alien-looking girl walked towards her, but the low volume on her headphones allowed to hear her when she talked to her. She immediately reacted by rising her head and looking at her to make sure that she was talking to her before closing her 3DS and lowering her headphones, putting them around her neck as she smiled in a curious and friendly way, just like always.

“Actually I just arrived here, and you’re the very first person that has talked to me” She stood up, grabbing her handheld on her right hand and her backpack on the left “I’m Coatzin by the way, it’s a true pleasure to meet you, Cytus!” She had to hold back her tongue a bit to avoid turning any s into a snake-like hissing sound thanks to her current mood, this could be a bit annoying from time to time, but it came with the hole hybrid thingy. When she noticed Cytus gesture she immediately started to walk towards her office, but being careful to stay either at her side or right behind her in a respectful way.

She had to make a fair amount of effort to hold her growing curiosity back and not start shooting questions at her from left and right, and not only about the school, but also about herself. She never had seen anyone like her, not even in books or internet articles, and, just like it always happened when she found anything new, she wanted to know everything about her. Yet, this wasn’t the time or place for that, so she would need to wait.
