Quiet. That had been what Aiden had wanted. Quiet. Not quiet enough for there to be nothing but his thoughts and horrors for company, but not surrounded by people. Even if they didn't poke and pry and mess with him. He still wanted quiet.

"I didn't realize it was so much warmer here," he said quietly, and let his face rest against the ice again. Nice and cold. "Or I'm just more sensitive now, I guess. I can't tell. It's just hot."

(Sorry for the wait and shortness, life kind of caught me up for a bit there)

Pasha made a faint 'hm' sound, taking the briefest glances out the tarnished and stained window. Barely any light made it in, so the ambient lighting would have to do. At the very least, it was consistent. He turned the small glass in his hand for another moment, poured himself another nip and took it down all at once. Vodka may as well have been water; his liver regenerated too fast to be damaged and he couldn't die from it. Why not?

"You may stay for a while." It was cool in here, and there was nobody else present. Pasha didn't exactly have to interact with him, but he often lingered around to see how things were going. Besides, he wasn't going to trust him to just not do anything stupid in a bar.

Staying right here seemed like a good idea, and seemed like it would continue to seem so far a while even after Aiden's general state of paranoia began to return. For now, though, he was still at least mostly relaxed, and finally recovering enough for something else to emerge: a sliver of curiosity.

"What's up with all this ice anyway?" he said, if very belatedly given how long he'd been rubbing his face against said ice. "Not that I'm complaining or anything. It's so hot outside, but this isn't melting at all."

Pasha placed the shot glass back down on the ice countertop, turning it in his hand slightly so that the flat end was facing him. It was quite nice, but he often disposed of them after customers were done. Unhygienic or something, according to the health board.

"I like the cold." A simple enough explanation to it. He had a natural affinity to it considering, you know, he was Winter. As for why it all remained frozen, he just gave a little nod. "The air conditioning in here is excellent."

And by air conditioning, he meant he could plummet the temperature even lower and kill everything in the building. He was the store's own air conditioning, and he didn't pay a dime towards the electricity company for it.

"You seem to appreciate the cold." Most people would sunbathe. The boy looked like he was going to pass out.

He liked the cold? Aiden could agree with that. He apparently wasn't weird by any real standards in this weird place, so logically there would be other people who did better in cold than heat lurking around. Just apparently in bars. The air conditioning was probably magic.

"Need is probably more accurate than appreciate." Face. Ice. Wonderful combination. He did refrain from rubbing his face into it like a happy puppy, though. He was neither happy nor a puppy. Just relieved.

"Fair enough." If he liked it that way then so be it. He wasn't really bothering him with merely his presence (at least, not more than the average person), and his kinship to cold certainly helped.

Pasha poured himself another small drink, whirling it in the glass momentarily before letting his eyes fall back over to the boy whose face remained snugly on the table.

"I assume your face hasn't gotten stuck yet, but it may. Better be careful."

"It did get a little frozen for a bit, but it's fine," Aiden said vaguely. "I don't think cold can actually hurt me anyway. I mean, I fell asleep in a walk-in freezer the other day. It was kind of nice..."

Even if he hadn't been supposed to be there, and eventually got chased out and lectured for it. It had still been a few hours of quiet and cold. Eventually it would be winter, wouldn't it? Even on this strange island?

"Have you ever been stuck to something frozen?"

Having an affinity with the cold wasn't exactly odd. Pasha didn't think it uncommon enough to warrant a second glance, even if his powers were mainly cold weather centric.

He went back to polishing his glasses idly, laying them all out in a row one by one but keeping an eye on the near unconscious boy. He seemed to be getting better now, so at least he didn't have to drag him to the hospital too.

But seriously, what was up with all the children running to the cold, dingy Russian bar when they were hurt?

"No. I am a little more careful about those things." When he first got his powers... Well, he hadn't even realized he'd gotten them.

"Mmm."

Aiden vaguely felt like he was being humoured. He wasn't sure what to make of that. He didn't get irritated easily at the worst of times, and right now he was kind of... in an interesting mental state, to say the least.

"It's kind of weird," he said absently, slowly rubbing a fingertip back and forth across the ice next to his face. "I used to like the cold but not need it. Now I kind of need it but I can't like it anymore."
