The black cat just growled a bit when the girl started to clean his face and fur, he shared some traits with the forms he used to take, and the usual hate of water when he was in his feline form wasn’t the exception. Most cats would claw at anyone that started to clean them or try to get away for obvious reasons, but he just stood still, allowing her to clean his onyx fur. He didn’t like being dirty after all, but when you’re a stray demon pet, showers are a bit hard to come by.

Mephis tilted his head a bit at the glimpse of the scars, which covered the beautiful body of the girl. He could only imagine how she managed to get so many in her short life. At least the sight of them was more than enough to keep his mind occupied and away from other kind of thoughts as the girl walked out from the shower, and consequently from feeling tempted to do anything to her.

He walked towards her when she whistled, he may not be a dog, but he knew how to pick up these signs. He curled up at her side, pressing as tightly against her as possible in what most people would consider a loving way, careful to not harm her with the sharp spikes of his collar. He only lifted his head against when the girl started to talk again. Well, wasn’t this amusing? She not only wanted this ‘Handler’ of hers to be eternally in hell, but she also was sure that she was going there with him, he could surely give her a hand with that.

Once again, the girl surprised him with her actions, leaving the window open for him to leave. Didn’t she just said that she would like the company? Plus, after the meal and the small bath that she gave him, he obviously supposed that she was going to keep him as her own. The more time he spent with her, the more complicated the puzzle became, and consequently he felt more interested to solve it.

He allowed her to stroke his fur for a while in silence, purring softly from time to time “You are quite an interesting young girl, you know?” His voice almost echoed across the walls of the girl’s bedroom, as deep and mysterious as always, but now also soft as silk. His eyes locked themselves on hers, wanting to see her reaction. Would she still want him around, or she would just kick him out after finding out that he wasn’t a common cat? By previous experiences he was betting on the last option, but he had learned that with this girl, things could be a bit different.

Her eyes turned blue first and foremost. It was the most prominent thing that came to be as one of hands went under her pillow and gripped the handle of her knife. She kept knives everywhere, one under her pillow. One in her boot, several in the kitchen, one in the bathroom, under the middle couch cushion, one taped under the table in the kitchen and even one in the spare room taped under the weight bench. He would tell that this reaction was instinctual to her being startled. Her eyes search the room first and foremost as her other hand went to him, pressing him firmly against her in a protective manner as she looked around.

After a few long minutes in silence she released the handle of the knife as the glow remained and her body relaxed looking down to him she tilted her head to the side as the glow faded. "You are enteresting your selves. Startled mein. Et es not a good zeing to do." She reached out and ruffled the fur on his head not caring that there were small pinpricks of red on her white sheets from his collar digging into her. A small grin appeared on her features as she went back to petting him like nothing happened.

Mephis allowed Evelyn to press him against her, barely reacting at all, even after he knew that the sharp spikes of his collar digging on her thanks to the smell of blood. He raised his eyes to look at her, waiting for her to calm down.

He wasn’t exactly expecting to startle her, but at least the reaction wasn’t that surprising. He could understand why anyone would be startled if they heard a black cat speak…even if you’re in a place where something like that would be considered pretty normal if compared to a lot of other creatures.

He lowered his ears and closed his eyes as Evelyn ruffled his fur, he wasn’t a fan of the friendly action, but at least she wasn’t kicking him out “Sorry for the startle. It’s just that you act so differently from most creatures, starting with the fact that you didn’t kicked me off your way and fed me” He closed his eyes, purring loudly.

He even started to rub himself against her, careful to not cause her any further injuries with his collar. He wasn’t used to be treated like this by anyone that didn’t had a contract with him, even if they only treated him like that to stay on his good side so he would obey their commands and make favors for them.

"Of couirse eye deidnt kick you off of mein en route home. Eye know the pain of hunger." Reaching out Evelyn picked him up and set him on her chest. As she does so he can feel an unevenness in the left side. nearly all of her ribs were broken on that side at one point in time or another. Despite knowing that he was not a normal cat she still rubbed and massaged behind his ears and even pet his back and tail before going under his chin.

"I em sorry I em not more comfortiable mein ribs were shattared vehen as a part en trainening." She stated gently as she continued to pet him. After a long moment she whispered out. "I vas veak et vas to making me tough.... Eye vas a veapon."

She stopped talking for a long moment as she sat up slowly silence hung in the air like a dead weight. Evelyn's grey tresses hung down and hid her face hiding the pain and the confusion within her eyes. Though her face conveyed none of the her expression was perfectly smooth a mask of emotionless void. Her eyes spoke the volumes of the pain in which she experienced through out the years It was as if she was contemplating it all in this very moment.

Mephis allowed the unusual girl to keep petting him, even answering with purrs. He really didn’t mind the unevenness on her chest, it wasn’t as uncomfortable as other places where he has been forced to be at all. He still wondered why her chest was in that unnatural condition, answer that came to him even before he had the chance to ask.

“You really had been going through a lot in a really short amount of time, right?” He could relate to her to some point. Yeah, he obviously hadn’t been mistreated like her on the past, but even he knew that for his previous owners he was only something they owned, call it a weapon, a servant, a slave, anything between those lines. He was created to live that life, so he had grown and adapted to feel comfortable with that, but he couldn’t help but hate the feeling of being just used from time to time.

He shook those thoughts off his head, he couldn’t feel any kind of positive feelings towards mortal beings, even small ones. Doing so would put in danger his whole soul gatherer job and his reputation as a demon pet…and if things took a turn for the worst he would anger his king and that would definitely mean a destiny worse than death for him.

He still was considering to make a contract with him, but he really wouldn’t want to change her behavior by doing so before solving the puzzle that she was giving to him. Living for so long could make things a bit too boring and if anything managed to catch his interest at all he wasn’t willing to just let them go so easily “You are quite an impressive girl. Going through all that and still holding any kind of kindness on your heart, that’s indeed an extremely rare occurrence”.

"Eye vas trained en sooch a vay that I vould be very good et mein in job." she stated her hands hanging at her sides her eyes looking down at him but unfocused.. As if she was staring off into space. "No en one should being owned." she finally whispered out in a shaky voice.

"Ey am des vay because of en mein motha. She toelden me dat 'You are spescial malyutka, Vitch meining lettle one... you are a good pearson ve love you. Neiber forgeat zeat.' Mein en mothas vords." Finally her voice broke as a wet droplet hit Mephis dead on the nose and then another on the top of his head. Warm and smelling of salt she reached out and cradled him against her chest.. Squeezing until the smell of copper hit his nose before her grasp slacked slightly as her entire frame was shaking slightly he could feel more droplets hit his fur on his back and rarely on his head again.

her sobs were silent but he could feel them in her chest and hear the slight change in her breathing that was associated with the act of crying. Evelyn cried for a long moment that stretched on into what felt like forever before she slowed to a halt and set him down on her lap once more and laying on her side away from him. "E-Eye em sorries et es veak of mein."

His ears immediately went flat against his head when he heard the girl’s words. The idea of nobody being owned was a hard hit on him, mostly because that was his only purpose in life, being owned and gathering the soul of his owner. If he shouldn’t be owned, then he wouldn’t have a way to collect souls out of killing, and that would make him enter in competition with reaper demons, a competition that he knew he would easily lose, consequently losing his only purpose on life.

Yeah, he was still listening, gathering information about the girl, but at the same time he couldn’t help but wonder what would be of him if he was never owned again. Would his king allow him to keep living at all? Would he get a new purpose? Or would he turn into the closest thing to a lost soul that a demon could become, forever wandering around Earth without a purpose at all?

He was pulled out of his thoughts by the tear on his nose and head. Was this girl really crying? He allowed her to grab him and hug him like if he was plushie, not really caring how hard she was pressing him against her chest…until he smelt the characteristic smell of blood once more, guessing that she just managed to pierce her skin with his collar’s spikes once more.

He wasn’t sure of what to do, he rarely had seen mortals crying, and he had to admit it, most times their cries were caused by him. Consequently he had no idea of what to do, should he just let her cry or try to comfort her? Ugh, mortal affairs like this one could be a bit too complicated even for him. He raised his head, purring softly in a comforting tone, not much to actually be able to fully comfort her, but also not too little to let her know that he was still there, giving her some kind of support.

When she finally allowed him down he shook his fur a bit instinctively in an attempt to get rid of the wet feeling “It’s ok, sometimes your kind needs to cry” He was trying to sound wiser that he really was towards the subject, demons couldn’t allow themselves to be outsmarted, and showing ignorance towards anything would be giving an advantage for free to any mortal.

Silence was the only thing that greeting him as she put him down on the bed. Standing she walked out of the room slowly it was as if something broke within her. Each step taking her away from the bed and upon her standing in front of the bedroom door she didn't look at him. Her voice came out cold and monotone. "Eye have brought shaime to mein en self as a weaopen. Mien in punieshment will begain now."

Her mind was stuck some where dark. Filled with the hardships in which she experienced for years. She wanted to break from her life that she used to have but. The old life. The old ways. It was so ingrained. So heavily stained upon her very being down to the core that she couldn't break free from the mold that she was forged into. She should of never taken the souls of those men. She should of taken her mission in stride. She should of allowed herself to be brainwashed. Turning the corner into the weight room she was already piling weights onto the bar.

Laying down she had the weight started at five pounds each. Lifting the weight above her head she began pumping the iron up and down over and over again in a long even pace until she did so ten times. And then the weight was doubled. As her eyes glowed the ten pound weights lifted up and affixed themselves onto the bar. Harder and harder she pushed over and over again keeping the same exact pace once she hit twenty the twenty pound weights lifted and began hovering towards the bar.

The broken ribs. The obscure punishment. It wasn't her punishment to lift the weights, the punishment was to push until she couldn't take the weight anymore and then her ribs were broken by the weight of the bar coming crashing down.

Mephis followed her silently as she walked towards the weight room, tilting his head a bit as he looked at her punishing herself for crying. He really couldn’t tell what kind of stuff the people that destroyed her life had forced into her mind for making her think that expressing her feelings like that would be worth of a punishment.

Sooner than later he noticed the girl’s true intentions, which caused him to face-palm before pulling his hand downwards. Only a couple of minutes ago she was telling him about her crushed ribs and now she was quickly pushing her body towards its limits only to go over them and end up harming herself.

“Satan, give me patience” He growled to himself, a bit too low for her to hear before walking towards her. He knew perfectly how serious an injure like the one that she could cause to herself was, and not doing anything could mean the death of his current interest subject.

When he was near enough he allowed himself to half-transform into his human form, so he looked like a taller than average man with claws, cat ears and tail, fangs, whiskers and short black fur, too human-like to be considered a werecat, but close enough, his demonic green eyes still being the same as always.

He grabbed the weight’s bar with both hands, pulling and forcing it back to its place. Luckily for him he was stronger than he looked like thanks to his demonic origins, and taking in consideration his athletic build that could be something fairly surprising.

He glared at her a bit, keeping a really firm hold of the bar just in case she decided to try and keep trying to hurt herself “You really need to stop doing this unless you have a really serious death wish, you know that?”.

"Foregive mein." She whispered from her position on the bench the last few reps were a struggle. Truth be told that if Mephis didn't pull the bar from her she wouldn't of been able to support the next set. It was horrific punishment and she hated it more than anything else. The healers they had were sublime in their power, but they could never take the pain away from it happening. A tremble passed through her as she leaned forward and snaked her arms around Mephis middle.

There was little care for his appearance change. He was being a buff in the storm within her, the swirl of memories and ingrained habits. While Evelyn could never admit it there were times that she felt lost and through all of her years she lived with a man that she hated. He was always there. She was never alone like this. It pained her to feel this way. Despite the fact that she hated her handler and all he did to her. He was still there with her to stitch her wounds and tell her to improve.

Through some odd conflict of emotion or the fact that she fet so alone in this world not having someone to stay with her. She whispered softly, it sounded almost like a plead. "Do not leave mein alone toneight."

With a bite to her bottom lip Eve buried her face into his middle. Content to will the world to hell. Weapons were emotionless. Weapons were metal and stone. Weapons were only flawed when broken...
