Coatzin walked through the dark forest, letting her wings rest for a while. She had been flying all day long and even she could get tired a bit after all that exercise. Yet, now she was starting to regret a little to be exploring this place by foot instead of flying, she had that small feeling of getting lost, and even if she wanted to fly off she had to find a place with a space wide enough for her to fully open her wings and take advantage of the air currents to take flight.

With a deep sigh she just decided to keep walking, her yellow eyes scanning the place carefully, her night vision wasn’t as good as Mikistli’s and she knew it perfectly, but it was good enough to not run into a tree and she was grateful for that. She knew that if she really needed to she could use her Light Manipulation power to increase the light around her a bit, but for now her vision was more than enough.

It was then that he felt it, that feeling of nervousness and uncomfortableness that came when someone was staring at you. She looked around carefully, her tail twitching for side to side as she tried to discover if someone was looking at her of if she was just being paranoid now “Uh…hello?” Dear lord, if someone was indeed watching she just hoped to not had sounded like a complete idiot there.

==> Strings

A guest.

Strings had a guest, venturing too deep into the Forbidden Forest, into her territory. She didn't particularly like anyone stepping into the area she had claimed for herself but she was... in the mood. She didn't feel like slaughtering anyone. In fact, her guest looked very interesting. Even in the dark, Strings could see well that colorful plumage. If she were a human, Strings would have jumped in and scared them off.

But her guest was special. For a while, Strings decided only to observe the girl as she wandered alone. Strings followed her around without a sound, hiding behind the trees and bushes, taking advantage of her intangible state and the darkness that surrounded her.

First there was silence. Silence that made Coatzin become aware of being alone. But it gave her that spine-chilling feeling of being observed.

"Uh...hello?"

There was no answer but the sound of wind blowing through the trees, making the leaves rustle in the night. For a few moments there was still no answer. But as the silence dragged on, soft giggles started to echo through the forest surrounding Coatzin. The giggles slowly began to increase in volume and all of a sudden... it stopped. The rustle of the leaves were heard again, and the whistle of the wind replaced the silence.

Ok…no answer…then she probably was indeed starting to feel paranoid. She was used to be dragged around to weird places thanks to her curiosity, some prettier than others, but even while trying to convince herself that she was just being paranoid she couldn’t shake this awful feeling off herself. It was then when she heard it, the giggles. Her fur puffed up even more, not enough to make her look ridiculous, but enough to be actually noticeable. Maybe she wasn’t as alone as she thought. She started to look around, trying to find the source of the giggles, but the echo was obviously not helping at all, since the more times they echoed, from more places she could hear fake-origins, and she wasn’t exactly good at pinpointing this kind of stuff.

She was a bit surprised when the giggles suddenly stopped, though now her guard was a lot higher. She kind of hoped that this was just a prank. When the silence replaced the giggles and these didn’t came back her feathers started to relax and return to their proper place. Instead of turning around and running away like any normal girl would do, she actually started to search around the forest surrounding her, with the initial fright gone, her curious nature came in all its strength.

She wanted to know who, or what, caused the giggling. Probably not the best choice to take in this kind of situations, no wonder why the friendly hybrid got into so many problems, one right after the other. It wasn’t that uncommon for her to ignore the voice of logic on her head and follow her instincts, or her heart, as she liked to call it. And right there and now, even if the voice of logic was screaming at her to run for her life, her heart was telling her otherwise “I know that you’re somewhere around here! Come on, I just wanna meet you!” Coatzin waited patiently after her words, this time actually expecting some kind of creepy answer to her question and getting ready for it.

Look at this fluffy thing, Strings thought. Hilarious. She was like a little bird. Well, she did look like a hybrid of a bird and some serpent. She wonders what kind of experiment this girl was result from. Humans trying to attain the form of a Quetzalcoatl? Well, she could always try and trace her origins but that would take time. She'll miss getting to mess with her new friend.

“I know that you’re somewhere around here! Come on, I just wanna meet you!”

You could say that the moment Coatzin got over the initial chills the giggles had sent her, Strings wasn't happy. Not so much as angry, but just disappointed. It was like the scare meter dropped all of a sudden. She needs a better build up, Strings thought.

She did what every other forest denizen did. Strings dashed around her. Running from tree to tree, showing that famous "dark figure that moved in the shadows" scenario in Coatzin's perspective. Her movements caused some crows to fly out of the trees and some other woodland creatures to jump out of bushes in a scare. Ha, this always made the perfect thriller scenario, Strings thought with another fit of giggles. The giggles rung around Coatzin again.

She was going to try and scare her and see what happens. After all, not everyone can handle the scares when practically everyone knew about the gruesome stories from the Forbidden Forest. (Unknown to Strings, her plan would backfire.)

The moving shadow didn’t went unnoticed by Coatzin, luckily for her she was already expecting the creepy answer, so she wasn’t as scared as before, though saying that she wasn’t nervous and her body wasn’t ready to react immediately at the smallest sign of danger would be a huge darn lie. She knew perfectly that these dark woods didn’t had an exactly nice reputation and the stories of people going in to never be seen again was more than enough to allow anyone know how dangerous this place was.

“GAH!!!!!” If Coatzin had the enough space to open her wings and fly off she would had instinctively done this without thinking it twice when a fast shadow ran straight towards her, taking her off-guard. The only thing she managed to do was to hit a couple of trees when opening her wings and trip with herself in the futile attempt to fly off, falling heavily on her back, her whole plumage puffed up completely, making her look straight ridiculous. She looked at the shadow that startled her…a black raccoon that was just as scared, if not more, than her.

Coatzin allowed herself to laugh as she stood up, using her hand to force her feathers to go flat once more, at least the ones on her head. She smiled once more before the giggles started to echo across the forest once more. This time, either for what she just did or simply for ignorance of the true intentions of Strings, she couldn’t help but think that the creature was laughing with her instead of actually trying to scare her at all “Nice one, nice one” She said cheerfully as she started to search for the origin of the giggles, trying to use the shadowy figure and the sound itself to finally find it.

The echoing giggles would soon turn to laughter as Strings watched Coatzin stumble in the forest floor. This girl was a riot. She should really have more people like this. Like, the kind who have extra appendages that can make them trip or bump into things and make them fall over in the most comical ways.

But Strings wasn't the only one amused. Coatzin was also laughing and this wasn't a good sign for Strings. No, in fact, it was starting to on her nerves. What was so funny? Other than her of course; Coatzin had been the object of amusement for Strings ever since the girl stumbled into the her territory. But no, she shouldn't be laughing at herself. That's dumb.

It was time to pull out the big guns.

Strings had a knack for manipulating the space around her-- or more like making the people think the space around them is getting manipulated. In other words, her tendrils had the best use when it's dark and there are plenty of shadows to play around in. The shadows from the trees crept out of their hiding place, making stream-like lines that crawled towards where Coatzin stood. The tendrils made hissing noises as it moved further. If this doesn't freak out bird-serpent girl then Strings won't know what would.

Coatzin really didn’t noticed the shadows moving towards her at first, but what immediately made her react was the hissing sound. It sounded a bit like the hiss that she did when she was angry, but a bit…uh…probably creepier would be the right word for it. Instinctively she started to look around for the source of the sound, almost forgetting her about her original goal.

She flicked her tongue a bit, tasting the air and picking all the scents that her nose wouldn’t be able to even perceive. Yet, she wasn’t able to tell what was going on until her eyes landed on the moving shadows that slowly creeped towards them, almost like actual snakes threatening to bite her. She took some steps backwards, her eyes scanning the whole area as the shadows around her seemed to come to life “H-Hey, this issssssn’t funny, cut it out!” In her current state she wasn’t really keeping an eye on her lisp, so instead of talking normally she started to drag the ‘S’, making it sound like if she was hissing.

The closer the shadows came, the more nervous she started to get, the forest was creepy enough without having these things threatening to do…whatever they could do to her, circling and hissing at her like if she was some kind of prey. Out of raw fear, her light powers were involuntarily triggered, but instead of camouflaging her they started to cover her up. She started to become the closest thing to a living lightbulb that anyone could be, a strong white light enveloping her and trying to force the shadows around her to retreat. She was lucky to be used to her own powers, otherwise she probably would’ve been blinded by the light.

Yes! Now that was the kind of reaction Strings was aiming for!

Strings could clearly see the fear in her eyes. Man this was a rollercoaster but sure was worth it, she thought. She smiled her razor sharp grin from there in the shadows. Did this girl really think Strings as just playing a harmless prank? Strings thought otherwise. Harmless would be an understatement.

As the shadows closed in on Coatzin, Strings didn't expect the light that enveloped the girl and brightened up the area. Without the shadows helping, String's tendrils retreated back to her as she herself recoiled from the blinding light. When the light faded, so did Strings' smile. But she wasn't angry this time. As a matter of fact, she had become interested. Bioluminescent creatures are rare to come by unless they're from the bottom of the sea. This one had wings. (Of course Strings' didn't believe in magic, that's illogical.)

When the shadow finally returned to the area, the was silence. Strings didn't move yet until Coatzin eased up. When she did, Strings materialized in front of her, her blank face a little too close for comfort.

"You. Are crazy."

Coatzin had to blink and rub her eyes several times before she could see again. She had grown used to her power and it couldn’t blind it, but her eyes still reacted to it like anyone’s would. Consequently it took her a minute or two to adapt to the poor lighting of the place once more. The first thing she noticed was that the hissing shadows were gone and the place was submerged into a silence so dense that you could cut it with a knife.

She looked around carefully, hoping to not had accidentally had scared off the creature that decided to play such an awful prank on her. She was a bit mad, but not enough to just walk away like most people would, she still wanted to know who this creature was, maybe even talk to it, just as before, the fear retreated and was soon replaced with curiosity.

She jumped backwards with a small shriek when Strings appeared right in front of her. This time she was careful enough to not open her wings or trip with herself as she did so “Wha…Crazy? I’m not the one pulling scary pranks on people” She could only guess that this unusual creature was the one responsible for all the frights that she just had to endure. She couldn’t help but feel curious now, this creature, was just way too different…wait a second “Uh…mind if I ask you…are you, by any chance, Slenderman? Or related?” Being a gamer at heart, she obviously had played Slenderman before, and she couldn’t help but notice how similar she looked to him.

“Wha…Crazy? I’m not the one pulling scary pranks on people.”

Strings' face was blank as usual but the sound of her laughter echoed from the trees around them. She pulled away from Coatzin that she was towering over her, looking at down at her when she was on the ground. "Pranks? You got me all wrong, kiddo. I don't play pranks," she said, but her voice didn't sound like it was coming from her but instead, from the shadows surrounding them. "Missing people from the Forbidden Forest? Monster in the dark?—" Strings knocked on Coatzin's head, "--Wake up, sweetie, that was all me! I remove everything that gets on my nerves by any means necessary. Even if it's not that necessary. I do what I want!" Another laugh echoed through the forest. Strings hasn't dropped the act.

Despite that, Strings was already made aware that none of her antics could drive her away. She was either incredibly brave, or just downright stupid. Strings couldn't exactly say. "I'm not Slenderman, girly. Just look at me!" Strings spun around with her arms wide at her sides. Her tendrils floated around her. "No suit, no tie. And the guy's slender as fuck. Do I look slender as fuck? Nah kid, I'm pretty sure I'm normal to most people. But maybe we come from the same place. Who knows? I've never run into him," she said casually.

Her image glitched for a second and she reappeared a couple of feet away from Coatzin. "But if I do run into him, he's going to wish he didn't because I don't like things like him. I hate things I can't explain! I have this compulsion to get rid of them."

She glitched out of sight again and appeared behind Coatzin, "What about you? Are you explainable?" she asked. It was a threat.
