Coatzin listened to String’s words carefully, trying to stay as calm as possible. She was a lucky girl, she knew that perfectly not only by experience, but also from word of other people here and there. She usually didn’t tried to tempt her luck too much, but she still wasn’t sure if she wanted to leave just yet, even if she could easily tell by String’s words and tone that she was almost ordering her to do so.

“I…I understand. You’re not the first dangerous creature I had crossed paths with before, and one of them follows me almost everywhere I go, so I think I had grown a bit too used to that kind of stuff” Her mind immediately brought forwards the image of Mikistli. Dangerous would be a nice way to talk about her, and though she was careful to never cross paths with her at night during her violent activities, more than once she found her cleaning the blood from her clothes when she woke up, blood that obviously wasn’t hers. Only once she dared to ask what she had done, and the answer only made her fear her alter-ego even more.

Her eyes landed on Strings once more, her friendly smile never leaving her lips, even if her eyes reflect a bit of uneasiness thanks to the thoughts taunting her in that exact moment “I don’t think that anyone should be alone forever though, so I was wondering…if maybe, just maybe, we could be friends?” She wasn’t sure of what kind of answer she was going to get.

"Then don't try your luck!" Strings hissed. "Getting used to things isn't the same as throw yourself into it, you imbecile!" If there was anything that got on her nerves more than things that had no science in them were idiots with no common sense. It felt like an insult having to be faced with them. She was never really sure why that was, but it just didn't sit well with her. As much as she didn't want to dwell on those thoughts, she couldn't help it.

And yet here was this girl, looking at her with a smile on her face. A smile that made her figurative blood boil with anger. Why the hell was there a person like this one the island?

“I don’t think that anyone should be alone forever though, so I was wondering…if maybe, just maybe, we could be friends?”

"Tsk. You're delusional. The last time that happened the girl disappeared and guess who was the culprit?" Strings' voice returned to the screechy one, "You're not going anywhere if you think that's going to happen, girly," she said. Strings' tendrils came back to view but she didn't threaten Coatzin. She just used them to make Coatzin face the other way.

She didn't speak for a moment but when she did, her voice returned to its smooth, human-like tune. Her words same out solemnly, almost sad, "Just leave me be."

Coatzin flinched notably with Strings’ words. She knew that the girl wasn’t exactly comfortable with her presence, or at least she acted like it sometimes, she wasn’t completely sure, but she obviously wasn’t expecting her to get enraged. She immediately tried to remember her words, knowing that she had royally screwed up somewhere.

“I usually don’t throw myself into those situations. You can say that I have a mix of bad luck at finding dangerous creatures or walking into dangerous places without even knowing it, and good luck at leaving unscathed from most of those situations” She lowered her gaze a bit, even if the smile never left her face the lack of movement of her tail and low wings showed that she was feeling a bit upset.

She didn’t mind to be told the truth, even if it was is such a raw way as the one that Strings used, but knowing that someone else was upset because of her actions sank deeper and affected her in a worse way than any insult or physical hit directed to her.

With a deep sigh Coatzin patted Strings in a comforting yet polite way on the shoulder. If she didn’t want to be her friend for whatever reason she wouldn’t try to force her “I can tell that you don’t want me around here anymore and my presence is only being a bother to you, so I’ll turn around and leave. If you ever need anything you can always look for me and I’ll help you in any way I can. Also…sorry for upsetting you, it wasn’t my intention to do so”.

"I usually don’t throw myself into those situations. You can say that I have a mix of bad luck at finding dangerous creatures or walking into dangerous places without even knowing it, and good luck at leaving unscathed from most of those situations.”

"Luck is relative to your actions and timing," Strings retorted. "You just happened to run into me now that I'm not out to kill but if you came at a different time then you'd have regretted finding your way here." Strings' way of talking kept alternating with each exchange — it might have been her mood or it might have just matched well with Coatzin's replies. It felt like she was talking to either a lost child, or an idiot that she couldn't even tell how to approach her.

Strings stopped her as soon as she sensed the contact and one of her tendrils wrapped itself on Coatzin's wrist. "Please, don't touch me," she said. Even if she had said it that way, her tone of voice made it sound like a command than a request. "Whether or not I like you're presence is irrelevant. You're endangering yourself by being near me and I'm sure enough that you wouldn't want that. Your family wouldn't want that, not even your friends. I'm driving you away for your own good so don't flatter yourself that you can ever bother me," she said, letting Coatzin's arm free. While most of what she said was true, the part about being impossible to bother didn't seem to follow through with what she'd been saying earlier about 'things she couldn't understand'.

"If you ever need anything you can always look for me and I’ll help you in any way I can. Also…sorry for upsetting you, it wasn’t my intention to do so”.

For just a fraction of a second, Strings was taken aback. Even after all the threads she'd thrown at her, Coatzin was still not giving up on the whole friendship thing? Psh. A complete waste of breath, Strings thought. But somehow, it felt almost like she was relieved.

Strings immediately pushed the thought out of her mind. She was losing her touch. "Whatever. Stop saying 'sorry'; it's pathetic. And don't go expecting that to happen, girly. I'm not leaving this forest anymore." 'Anymore' made it indicative that she once took strolls around town. She kind of missed that but every time people gave her looks, it made her angry. She didn't want that. She didn't want to make a scene.

"Just... go home already... before I change my mind."

Coatzin flinched lightly when the tendril wrapped itself around her wrist, obviously not expecting it at all, for a small amount of time taking a slightly more serious stance and looking at Strings, listening carefully to her words. After the initial shock she started to relax once more, actually starting to feel a bit curious towards the dark tendril wrapped around her wrist. It felt somehow smooth and…not exactly warm, but it gave her the feeling of it being alive, not this she was surprised by this anyways, she supposed that these tendrils were part of Strings’ body, so that was perfectly logical, right?

When Strings released her she rubbed her wrist a bit, which was mostly an instinctive action than anything else. She could tell that Strings was lying a bit, she obviously had been bothered a couple of minutes ago, but she just decided to bite her tongue and stay quiet, no need to anger her or make her feel worse around her.

Wait…’Anymore’? That means that she had been outside the forest before, right? Why she wouldn’t want to get out again? Well…apparently she would need to keep those answers for the next time that they crossed paths with each other…if they ever did…she really hoped so though. Strings appeared to be the kind of creature that you didn’t want to be around, but at the same time she felt that there was more behind that cold mask and probably Strings just needed someone to listen to her and try to understand her, someone that would support her and stay at her side.

She let out a deep sigh, nodding “I guess that I’ll see you again another day…probably. Have a nice night, Strings” She smiled once more before turning around and walking away from the place, several thoughts flooding her head as she did.

"Don't wait for it," Strings said. Her voice made it it obvious that she was more than a little frustrated at the exchange. She hated visitors and she hated visitors like Coatzin. She hopes she'd never see the likes of her ever again.

Strings stood there for a moment until Coatzin was now shrouded by the shadows of the forest out of her sight. Yeah, the Forbidden Forest was pretty dangerous right... she... shouldn't walk alone with all the creatures in the woods. She... probably might not be as lucky as she was with her....right?

Oh for goodness' sake.

Strings secretly followed her and watched over Coatzin as she made her way out of the Forbidden Forest, like a shadow in the darkness of the forest ,just to make sure nothing harms her until she was out. As they reached the end of the restricted section of the forest, Strings dropped a flower crown on top of Coatzin's head before completely disappearing and retreating to her cavern.
