What was going on? The clashing of auras was...confusing. It was almost overwhelming considering she wasn't used to being around more than one person. Still, she focused her attention upon the woman and four other people that remained. So many people were hurt...and the smell of charred skin and hair...It really hit her then; this woman was serious. What was she talking about though? What had any of these people had done? What had she done?

Of course, there was that part of her that felt sorry for the stranger. She had so much rage bottled up that even Nao could see it. Someone must have hurt her bad...Or multiple people. She didn't know, but that didn't give her the right to hurt people like that. She heard one wanting strategy, another really wanting to leave, and one who claimed to be a teacher, asked a question that one might ask a normal person. It probably didn't matter if they had done the deed or not. This woman was dead set on harming people and...and Nao couldn't just sit there behind some mentioned shield or just leave.

She squeezed the staff in her hands. No. It really didn't matter at all. She just needed to be stopped. They could ask questions later once she was down for the count. Nao didn't feel like being responsible for allowing such a person to ruin the school grounds. She had just arrived, dammit and this was now her home!

"I don't care what she thinks. Hurting people is wrong." Golden ribbons of energy surged from her body, wrapping around her form in twists and sharp turns. The energy channeled into her arms and legs and before anyone could tell her otherwise, she dashed forward, heels kicking up dirt and grass as she closed in on the powerful source. She could 'see' the aura molded into a feminine shape. That's all she needed! The staff spun in her hands and with fluid motion, she stopped the weapon mid-spin and drove the blunt edge straight for the woman's plexus in the hope of stunning her and ending this early. Knowing her luck, this was just the veeery beginning of a painful day.

Jin was already fairly close to the few individuals who were uninjured—aka, the only ones that might be useful in this situation—and approached just as Joshua was asking about powers.

“I can teleport in water and turn into a thousand pound seal,” she replied with a shrug, spinning her spear in her hand as she stared at the woman floating above the water. She was sizing her up, and Jin was annoyed but not particularly frightened by her.

“I’ve killed things far bigger and stronger than her,” Jin murmured as she absentmindedly ran her fingers over the large fang that hung around her neck. There was a problem, though: Jin had more of an advantage in the water rather than on land—and if this woman had electricity powers, then the water was not a great place to be in…well, unless the woman was in the water herself. She wouldn’t electrocute herself, right? Even if the woman could just float out of the water, Jin would still have an advantage for a brief moment to do some damage…

“I have an idea,” Jin said suddenly as she pulled the seal skin from her waist and dashed toward the water. Of course, she didn’t bother to explain what she was about to do to the others. Teamwork wasn’t really her strong suit.

When Jin pulled the seal skin over herself and dove into the lake, she did not notice that someone else had decided to go on the attack. Around the same time that Nao hit the woman, Jin suddenly leapt from the water as her seal form and dug her massive fangs into Adularia’s right thigh—ready to drag the woman underwater with her massive body weight.

“Fools.”

That was literally all she could say to describe the people standing before her. Jaded eyes leered onto the five that stood before her defiantly, stanced defensively in an attempt to preserve their own life. It wasn’t very long before the energy she collected from the palm of her hand shot outward, possibly even blinding those who stared onto its source. Indignation was Adularia’s most powerful spell; a spell that was feared all across Cyberpolis as it had torn down more than just players – but the corrupted the game on its wake.

And there she was, standing on water unaffected as the lake also shook with electricity, almost steaming at the heat it generated. Adularia took it without seemingly any effect on her; she was in full control of her ability, and perhaps this was just a sample of what she was capable of doing.

It was her message to the administrators that used her and many others for its greedy treatment of those who were loyal and in love with the world that Cyberpolis once was.

Adularia was akin to a woman betrayed by a lover; in which case, she was betrayed by the game itself that she had hoped to be an escape from a horrible life. An emotionally abusive family led her to the brink, only to be saved by a game that promised a new life in a virtual world of limitless possibilities.

There, she found a new life – and love.

This was promptly taken away from her, repeatedly — almost painfully; love quickly crossed that fine line that defined love and hatred, and she set out to do more. At first, she and a few others had formed the organization Catalyst to bring to light the strings that held up the puppet show that was the game and how the Administrators used the members like guinea pigs for their… social experiments.

She was one of them.

The Administrators used Pandemic, Karella, Solitaire… and her.

They quickly became the scrapegoats and had to hack their way back into the game to fight back. That place was far more than just a game to them; but a home. Their home was torturing them; more than an addiction gone completely wrong. To Adularia, all she ever wanted after everything had calmed down was for whatever was left of her friends to be safe…

… Then they decided to take Thirteen.

Delete her in front of her eyes.

She knew Thirteen was a woman under special circumstances in real life; disconnection from the game possibly meant death, and the thought of her friend dying was too much.

Adularia gave up, and allowed herself to die.

<div align=center>

And at the wake of the night after what seemed to be an eternity in hell, she took her own life. </div>

Flashbacks from this painful past came in droves to the iridescent-haired witch, seething with fury and anger as she thundered her response to the ignorant question of “why?”

“You dare ask, Arius? You, Dius, Chronic, Orthoclase and Zeta; you betrayed us. You used us.” She seethed, not knowing that the people she was talking to was not who she thought they were. She turned towards Joshua, almost twice as furious as she was with everyone else. “Orthoclase, you used me and Solitaire. Now he’s gone. GONE.”

Whatever voice synthesizer was being used for her voice shook and cracked as she declared the reason for her despair.

The quick retort made her turn her head towards the woman who dared to come close in, tunneling towards her with impressive speed, aiming to hit her solar plexus, which actually succeeded. The witch took the hit, a leg pulling back as her upper body moved forward. Her hands defensively gripped the staff that hit her, and her head quickly rose to face the woman who made the mistake of hitting her.

“Self-righteous as ever, Chronic.” She flared, before a soft gust of wind formed around the woman, only to become a cyclone of wind with her as its epicenter. Its strength was powerful enough to displace the water she was standing on, slamming into the faces of her opponents. The mage, still holding the wooden staff on her plexus poured magic into it, and it began to grow quickly in length, enough to send its original owner back to shore and hopefully slam her right into a tree with enough force to exact revenge on pain previously inflicted.

A sharp pain took over her thigh as the mage got caught in someone’s fangs. She felt herself being pulled down and instinctively took a chunk off what used to be a staff and formed the wood into a wooden spike, aiming to stab the woman on the shoulder

“I HAD A CHANCE TO DESTROY YOU, AND I DIDN’T; I WILL NOT MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN. I WILL KILL YOU ALL AND DESTROY THIS GAME!!!!”

The woman glowed lightly before the world around them began to pixelate, conforming to the reality that was so deeply ingrained into Adularia’s psyche. The world slowly became Cyberpolis, and the group was separated from the rest of the world. The water was now solid ground, and around them was a forest of gigantic trees. This was no longer Monte Carlos island’s lake, but now the Colossal forest of Cyberpolis. Jin would be caught waist-down into the soil.

“Get away from me, Dius!” She shook her thigh, almost kneeing Jin in an attempt to free herself. She was no longer sinking because of her ‘hack’ but certainly still had teeth deep into her flesh.

This was going to be a painful time for all of them, that’s for sure.

Damn it what just hit me? The man swore that all he did was blink and then suddenly he was on his side and his entire body felt like it was on fire. Oh shit, this is familiar. Because despite everything, this was really not Joshua's first time getting struck by down by some kind of electricity, although it did take the prize for being the one that hurt the most. Blearily, he looked above him, to see a weird looking, partially empty bar.

90/100 HP

"What the fuck." No, really. What the fuck was happening? He glanced around at the other people who had survived the first wave and saw that all of them had the same bars over their heads.

What kind of sick person treats this kind of thing like a game? Briefly, the man wondered if it had something to do with that magical flu going around before deciding that naaahh, that probably wasn't the case. As far as he knew, it was only messing up people's powers, not turning them into genocidal lunatics.

Getting up slowly, Joshua noted that there didn't seem to be any lingering effects from lightning like there normally should have been. He didn't even have any burn marks. Okay, great. No lasting physical problems. Finally something good. I can live with that. He adjusted his goggles and frowned at the change in landscape.

Oh, I see. Another reality warper. Great. Perfect. Whatever. So it really was a game, then? So, what happens when all of these bars go down completely? Do we actually die or will it just kick us out? He seriously hoped it was the latter but who even knew with his luck?

In any case, he was just going to go ahead and take that as an invitation to try and rip her apart. Wasn't that what all freakish kids did at some point in their lives? Tearing the wings off of butterflies? Well, I didn't really have much of a childhood so I guess I'm making up for it now.

Gesturing sharply, Joshua made tightly condensed ball of dark matter press against her abdomen and let its gravity tear away. He would have really liked to have gone for her face instead but she was a woman and you couldn't just do things like that.

As far as Terrene was concerned, that scar meant something. Meant something dangerous and frightening...terrifying. The mark of a mage far beyond her apparent age, the mark of someone that could probably put the four of them to shame on their best days. But that wasn't to say they couldn't win this game...this literal game.

Unfortunately, the destructive turn from the group that had stayed was going to quickly diminish the chances of finding a quick resolution. Joshua was launching bolts of who knows what, and the 1,000 pound truck of a seal going right for the knees. The other was going right for the gut-check. Unfortunately, the attack did little but aggravate the already delirious mage, who was calling them names that they had most likely never heard before. The extra electrical surge drained a slight bit more HP, but it appeared that she had managed to cover the small girl close by. As the scene transformed, Terrene could only say she was just a little ticked.

"Arius? I've never even heard of the name!"

That much was obvious, but right now, she had to join the fray with the rest if they were going to have a chance...and to do that, she turned to the small timid girl, kneeling down; knowing that she would no longer be able to run.

But she could heal, and with Terrene's help, she could fight.

"There's no need to run. My name is Terrene, come on, we need to help them."

The teacher tapped the girl on the shoulder, absorbing just a little of her power, and morphing her body into what would become a rather ornate battle axe. A strange weapon for a small girl, but it was something; she couldn't complain. Both ladies now made a telepathic link.

"Take hold of me, I suspect you know how to fight better than you think."

They wouldn't run. Of course they wouldn't. And instead, a fight broke out. Arietta was perfectly willing to stay back, more out of fear than anything. Even when the wave of electricity shot out at all of them again, with Arietta yelling out once again. One lady had stood in front of her protectively, drawing attention finally to the numbers above their head. What... did that mean? People didn't typically have numbers over their head.

Familiar though. Such a familiar feeling.

The scene began to change around them and the girl looked around, her eyes going wide with surprise. This was bad. This was really bad... If they decided to run now, it was too late. They would definitely get lost in those woods.
It was odd, though, that even the woods seemed to be familiar.

Still, Arietta had other things in her mind other than her deja vu. The teacher turned to her, even kneeling as Arietta timidly looked up, insisting that they needed to help.

"B-but... I can't fight... I never fought before," She replied, fidgeting her fingers against each other. "I don't even have a weapon..."

That was when the woman, Terrene, tapped her shoulder and began to morph, taking the form of a battle ax in Arietta's hands. The ax was heavy in her hands, with her nearly dropping it. The woman's voice echoed in her mind now, with Arietta still staring at the ax.

'I'll... I'll try.'

She didn't want to, but regardless she was told to. With a little bit of a push, Arietta charged forward as soon as Joshua made his attack. There was an uncertainty to her charge, as if she could back down at any moment, but as soon as she drew close to Adularia, there was definitely a certain amount of ferocity and decisiveness as she tried to somehow cut the woman in half in a vertical swing.

Though that ferocity might have faded just a tad as she added softly in reference to her attack,

"I-I'm sorry."

Nao definitely had connected. Staff to gut, she felt the impact and the drive into the woman’s vulnerable point. Normal people would have dropped like a rock, wheezing and spittle coming from their lips. She had put enough force into the blow to stun the woman—she was sure of it; absolutely positive!

But…Something felt wrong.

And it was about to feel worse. The strong gusts of wind startled the Ki-user and she mistakenly released the staff. Immediately her hands lifted in defense and she took a few steps back, now soaked to the bone and the water from the blast stung her face. What is this?! What’s going on?! The woman’s aura was so…Intense. It was overwhelming—terrifying even! The shape of it was unreal and it burned with such hatred that it even Nao was worried. She even wondered if people around her saw what she could…well, technically ‘see’, but in a much clearer version.

And there was the second mistake; being distracted. Before she knew it, Something creaked, groaned, and slammed into her ribcage with enough force to send her off her feet and..to god knows where! At the last second, ki gathered around the object before she slammed against the tree. Although it still hurt like hell, her quick thinking softened the blow somewhat. She managed to push away the—wait, was that her staff? Holy hell, how did it get this long!? Nao probably would have put more thought into it if she weren’t so busy trying to fill air into her lungs again. It hurt to breathe. Fracture? A small possibility…But how did the woman do that?

Somehow she was most likely going to have more questions than answers…and bruises judging from how swell this was going. Not only was her staff practically useless, but now she had no choice but to really get up close in order to do anything. Nao pushed herself away from the tree and took a moment to control her breathing. It hurt. steady now…Just like you were taught. She took a stance this time, channeling energy to her fists. One was already on the move and up close so Nao charged in as well, timing her attack with the others. She leapt into the air, A heel loaded with ki to be brought down upon the enemy’s head in a swift downward kick.

* charged back into the fight. Leapt for a downward kick to the head.

Jin was caught off guard when everything around her completely changed. Particularly when the water she was in suddenly felt solid. She lost her grip of the woman’s thigh. She had something else to worry about now.

She pulled off her seal skin as much as she could, and spit some of Adularia’s blood out of her mouth. She was waist-deep in dirt and some squirming alone was not getting her out.

“Fuck fuck fuck fuuuuuck….”

Jin growled to herself as she did the only thing she could do—trying to dig herself out with her bare hands. She really hated asking for help, but she could also see that she was rather screwed at that particular moment. She momentarily stopped her digging to instead grab the spear on her back and shake at it until she could loosen it out from the ground. At the very least she could somewhat defend herself while she tried to get herself out of the ground.

“Fuuuuuuuuuuuck…”

99/100

-Stuck in the ground. Too stubborn to ask for help.
-Trying to get her spear free so she can defend herself.
