Hey everybody! The new school year has begun at Starlight Academy, which means that we are kicking off Character Creation Month. What does this mean? It means that, for the entire month of September, we encourage all members of Starlight Academy to create a brand new character to kick off the new year with! If you've had a work-in-progress, or even just an idea you've been putting off making, now is the time!​

What Kind of Contest is This?

The focus is on creating new characters and getting them involved in the site. If you're not the kind of person who wants to make new characters, you can also focus on plotting with everyone else's new characters in order to participate.​

How Do I Enter?​

The second post of this thread is a form. Fill it out, post it here, and keep it updated throughout the month. At the end of the month, there will be a @ping confirming your prizes as they're distributed.

Prizes are on an individual basis, and you're only going to be competing with yourself. The prize is Upgrade Vouchers, which can be used to upgrade your character's abilities.​

How do I get vouchers?​

  • CREATING A WANTED CHARACTER: We've got a lovely want ad forum featuring requested characters and types. If your character fulfills one of those, you get four vouchers when they're accepted.
  • CREATING ANY OTHER CHARACTER: Making a character that isn't related to a want ad? No problem - you'll get two vouchers when they're accepted.​
  • THREADING WITH A NEWLY CREATED CHARACTER: This option is open even to those not creating characters! We want to encourage all these new characters to get plotting, so we're offering a reward for anyone who is willing to thread with them. There are some restrictions, so check below!

How do I get vouchers for threading?​

To qualify, a thread must have at least one new character (made during the month of September). You can only claim a thread with any given player once, regardless of which characters are involved.

You get one voucher for starting a thread, and a second voucher when the thread reaches the second page (or five posts by you in a group thread).​

Any other requirements?​

Players can earn up to twenty vouchers maximum.

Joke, throwaway or parody characters will not count. We are looking for solid, well rounded characters that will be used. Supporting characters do not count towards vouchers.

Applications should be at least 750 words long (or 500 words without counting powers) at time of first posting to qualify for vouchers.​

In-Demand Characters: post links to any in-demand characters, and link to the want ad they were made for. For example:

Link to character - Link to Want Ad

Other Characters: post links to any characters you've made that aren't made in response to a want ad

Threading with New Characters: Give each thread its own line. Each line should include a link to the thread, the name of the new character, and the name of the person you're threading with. For example:

link to thread - name of new character - name of other player

If you're claiming the second page bonus, just mark it in some way, by adding a x2 or 'second page reached' marker somewhere.
