James hummed and checked the time on his phone, it felt like his life was constantly changing anymore. People coming and leaving his life and now he was helping tutor people in certain magical sruddies, so much had cbanged.

Today he was meeting a woman named Zora, one who'd gained some form of shadow magic and required a bit of training. His nose twitched as he picked up a scent, looking up he'd see her, giving her a nod and a friendly smile. "Hello Zora," he'd put his phone away.

"Any questions or anything?" he'd ask with a smile, Shadow was of course in the back of his talking to him about their magic, "do you require an actual shadow to draw from or can you conjure darkness without one?"

Having arrived at the park with her regalia at her side, Zora gave the younger woman an encouraging smile as they went in search of James. "I´ll be fine, don't worry,".

Her regalia, Shadow, had actually recommended finding someone to teach her telling her that even if they bonded, she still needed to learn to control the shadows around her.

"I just don't want to humiliate you, or put you on the spot... that is not my intention," Shadow said glancing at the young man, uneasily.

"It's fine, I am fine," she said giving her regalia a quick reassuring look.

Then, after greeting James and chatting for a bit, Zora nodded when he suggested they start practicing.

"I can't actually conjure shadows yet," Zora told the younger man who had offered to teach her how to handle shadow manipulation.

James would nod and gesture to a group of trees next to them, he'd code the spot so they could take advantage of the shadows the trees created. Stepping into the shadows, his own regalia Selena would step around from a tree, "good chance to try your true sight," she'd tell James. "Ah yes," James would say with nod and turn back to Zora, "I can see hidden beings, so it'll be useful for this."

"Now, when majipulating darkness focus as if it's a part of you," he'd say, remembering all the training he'd put himself through, "like an extra limb," he'd sprout a small shadow tentacle to show her, "because eventually you should be able to make it an extra limb."

"So, focus on the shadows were in," he'd continue the lesson, "bend it, flex it, pull it over yourself."

She followed James and his partner towards some trees, her own regalia, Shadow behind her. The sun was later in the day and so the trees all around them had rather long shadows. Looking at James then, and then at the dark silhouette on the ground, Zora thought about what he had told her.

Focusing on the shadow, Zora felt Shadow place a hand on her shoulder, "Less concentration, open yourself, your mind," she told Zora very quietly, not wanting her to feel bad at the correction.

"It's okay, Shadow," Zora said kindly, knowing the regalia was only helping.

Doing exactly as Shadow suggested, Zora saw the shadow on the ground jump slightly as she tried to control it.

The shadow mage would watch Zora, watch carefully as the reached into the darkness, tugging at the tree's shadow, it only moved a bit, but yes she had shadow magic. "Good, good."

"Now," he'd give her a smile, "you're connected to the shadows, even if you can't see them...however you might be able to feel it." The Shadow continued to give him pointers in the back of his mind, "think of it as invisible tendons and nerves, clear your mind and you might be able to feel them."

He was enjoying tutoring her, "focus on the connection you have with it, and move, not like it's some object, but like it's a part of you."

Zora nodded at James's explanation, understanding completely what he meant since she actually did feel that new flow of magic in her, magic that was quite different to her own. It wasn't weird or unpleasant, in fact, one could even say it was hers. Except that it wasn't...

Looking at Shadow's for confirmation, her regalis nodded, And so Zora pull her hand up and bsck somewhat causing the shadow jump.

"There you go Zora," he'd smile and nod approvingly, "you feel it don't you?" This was going well, it might seem slow but that wasn't a bad thing, "now that you can feel the connection between yourself and the shadows, I want you to clear your mind."

"That connection, like a magical nervous system goes to your mind," he'd nod to her hand, "not your hand." He'd gently push her hand down, "using hand movements to manipulate the shadow can be limiting, a bad habit of sorts."

"Now, clear your mind, it's a limb, a part of you," this was the tricky part, "your brain sends the signal, and it moves."

Lowering her hand, Zora looked somewhat uncertainly at James and then at her regalia, Shadow. The regalia just gave her a tiny smile, "Try it, go on. It's much easier than it sounds..." she said simply.

"Okay, if you think," Zora said with a nod as she looked at a tree shadow before her, thinking about it, it's position now and where she wanted it to go, after a second, the shadow actually moved upwards like she had wanted it too.

She was learning fast, that was good, shadow magic was a useful ability, "good, that's good." He'd look at the raised darkness, if she kept training she'd eventually be able to conjure darkness without shadows, James had a sort of shortcut that allowed him to skip that step.

"All right, you have the darkness," he'd give her a smile, "now pull it over yourself, blend into it." He was enjoying magical tutoring like this, it was fun and he generally liked helping people.

"I do, don't I?" Zora agreed quite surprised when James told her that she had control of the darkness. Taking the darkness, the shadow, she engulfed herself with the dark blackness. Throwing the shadow around her like he instructed her to.
