"Cross-links, polymers... and what?" Liliana sighed as she reread the assignment, for like, the fifth time. They were studying the process of vulcanization in chemistry class and had been paired up to do some research on the process and its practical applications.

Glancing around the library, waiting for Xarrah, her chem lab partner, Liliana squinted a bit as she watched a tall floating figure disappear into one of the bookshelves and scrunched her nose thoughtfully. Libraries seemed to always have spirits. It was an odd thing, really... especially if you really thought about it... Who died in libraries anyway? she wondered as she looked around the room again, curious now to this.

Xarrah was in the home stretch of her high school career. The one thing that seemed to be an indicator of her not completing high school this year was chemistry. She was sorta glad to be working with a partner, it would give her a reason to not put off the assignment to last minute. So many things were happening around the school, it was hard for her to stay focused.

She rushed to the library, having gotten caught up in the music room. She spotted Liliana at a table and rushed over, her leg hitting the edge of a table as she walked by. She halted for a split second and then continued over to the table. "Hey! sorry for the wait. Did you read the assignment? I'm almost sure some of it is just made up things." She stated as she collapsed semi-dramatically into the chair. She was senior, she could do this, at least that's what she was telling herself.

Liliana saw Xarrah moved quickly towards where she was seated, grimacing a little when she hit her leg against a table. "Ouch! That's gotta hurt," Liliana said when Xarrah dropped into a chair across from her.

"Some things, try half the things." Liliana said in dismay as she looked across the table at Xarrah, "Like cross-links and silicon polymers? What the heck are those?" she sighed as she turned to the glossary at the back of the book.

Xarrah was used to bumping into things that were close together. At this point this point the only thing that hurt was her pride. “Im used to it by now.” She turned her paperside ways and then upside down and shrugged.

“Its used for rubber and stuff, tires but like i’m not sure why its all important.” She addmited turing to the page in her book that explained all the scientific nonesense. It’s not that she didn’t enjoy certia aspects of science. The labs were probably the best part.

“Do you think maybe we could do a lab example or something more hands than a report?” If it was more fun she was sure their fellow students would thank them.

Staring a picture in her book, Liliana nodded thoughtfully. "That would be so awesome if we actually got to vulcanize rubber or some other substance," she admitted "I always learn better with hands on, practical things..." she said glancing up at Xarrah.

"I really wish we could just do something interesting in Chemistry, this ye,,," she said her voice trailing off as a ghost started defacing one of her student council posters. Blinking at this, Liliana felt her mouth fall open.

"Why that little shit..." she said, irritated by what she was seeing. the nerve, the cheek. "I was putting up student council posts all day and yesterday, even did another short speech, and now these goobers are trying to ruin the fun for everybody.

Xarrah nodded in agreement with Liliana, chemistry was supposed to be explosions and cool labs. Not sitting there staring at textbooks while numbers and other shit filled the spaces around her. "I was kinda going to do a joke project, just a basic volcano and then with lights that sorta sup the whole event."

She followed Liliana's gaze and then blinked at the ghost. She tried not to snicker at the thought of the Ghost being a menace. She covered it not subtly with a cough, because she wanted to be polite. "Perhaps they are a fan of the other candiate? At any rate since you're suffering with me through Chemistry you have my vote." Returning her attention to the book she scribbled some notes down.

"Actually cant we just make a rubber volcano and the make it erupt?"

Hearing Xarrah's words, Liliana had to smirk, "You are quite possibly right. Not all ghosts like people who can communicate with them. They are probably in the Jude or Alma camp," she chuckled watching the ghost float away either finished defacing her posters or not happy they'd been spotted.

"That would be so awesome," she stated, impressed with idea, "Maybe we can make a volcano and simulate real lava somehow? You know with steam and smoke... " she said wondering if they could do that using chemicals or use some magic on it. Either way it would be way cooler than anything the teacher had planned.

"Speaking of hot and steamy..." Liliana grinned, "I've noticed there are quite a few little romances popping up here and there." she told Xarrah, "Amazing what you see when you're hanging up posters unnoticed," she added thinking about the how many students she'd actually seen hooking up in the hallways.

Xarrah nodded in agreement, she just sorta assumed that most ghost were crabby because they couldn’t Rest In Peace. She snickered as the ghost wandered away from the poster, she wondered if all ghost enjoyed being menaces or just some. Her attention was turned away from her musings and back to her science work. She frowned as she thought about the volcanoes.

“I mean I don’t see why not, it sure beats reading and doing a papers. As long as it doesn’t explode and get everyone wet...including myself I’m down for some deviation. She was sure the teacher would probably side-eye their project but learning was supposed to be fun right?

“Oh? Surprisingly enough I’ve become more aware of these things since I started dating. I truly didn’t know there was so many people bold enough to just go for it under the stairwell.” She herself had found a secluded corner to make out with James at least one...or two times. In her defense he had a smile that was a bit hard to say no to, and anything beat history class it drowned on for sor long.

"Yep," Liliana nodded, "I was just coming out of the old storage area, you know the one by the science-room?" she said referring to an old classroom the school often used to store odds and ends in that weren't valuable, "And there were, not one, but two juniors making out," she said twirling her pencil.

"James, huh?" Liliana stated with a sly grin, "cute, tallish guy, dark hair, nice laugh..." she asked curiously, thinking she knew who it was, but not too sure.

Xarrah nodded along with the story before her eyes widened "Really an old class room?" She wasn't that bold but she could appreciate those that were. She wasn't exactly sure why they wouldn't just go to their dorm or just like somewhere else but to each their own. The prospect of being caught by a teacher was kind of scary for her considering her brother was a history professor at the school.

"Yeah, that sounds like him. He's a junior...last name Logan" her cheeks at a light pink tint to them, she was still getting used to talking about her boyfriend. She thought of something quick to change the subject, considering the boy in question had a habit of popping up places and embarrassing her. "So do you have anyone special in your life?"
