Name: Bryn Harlow
Age: 32
Birthday: September 4th
Gender: Female
Species: Ghoul (Mutant Human)
Category: Citizen
Career: Unemployed
Appearance Description:
Fanart of Bart Curlish by purutsukid
Bryn is compact. Even at 4'5" and nearly flat-chested, it is unlikely she'd be mistaken for a child. She is athletic, scrappy, and scarred with sun-darkened skin and dreadlocked brown hair. Other than her brown eyes sometimes turning red and her sharp meateater teeth, Bryn appears to be a normal human woman. Though definitely one more accustomed to wilderness than polite society. Bryn doesn't see the point in fashion or keeping up appearances. Before arriving on Manta Carlos, most of the small amount of clothes she could scrounge up were dirty and/or bloodstained. Even on the island she takes what she can get - Jeans and oversized button shirts. She always wears thick sturdy boots.
Fanart of Bart Curlish by Sascha Altschuler
Personality Description: A chaotic, wild woman. Bryn is outdoorsy, adventurous, and slightly bloodthirsty. She sees violence as the solution to everything, and doesn't sugar coat the truth. Definitely rough around the edges, she's blunt, simplistic, crude, maybe even a little slow. She is a hard worker, though, able to single-mindedly pursue any goals she does have. She just doesn't see the point in a lot of frills.
When it comes to survival, she does possess a degree of animal cunning - she works well in a small group, in spite of being mostly introverted, and she doesn't rush into things, even if she tends to favour options that involve brute force for any problem. She's loyal to those she considers her "pack", but she would still eat them if they died. She's not much of a leader, and sometimes falls into an us vs them mentality too easily.
She enjoyed being a ranger, not being cooped up in a city, free to hunt. And the ghoul in her did enjoy the more gory aspects.
Active Abilities: None.
Passive Abilities:
Enhanced Strength - Is naturally at peak human strength.
Enhanced Endurance - Can run at top speed twice as far as a normal athletic human before getting tired. Ignores pain - if she is physically able to move, she can keep going, even if she has to remove her own limbs. She can run herself into the ground like this, until she collapses from exhaustion, so she has to be aware of her limits and rest even if she doesn't think she's tired.
Infection/Bacteria immunity - Will not become infected or harmed by naturally occurring bacteria. This does not extend to poison/venom or viruses.
Sharp Teeth - Teeth can easily tear through flesh, even leathery flesh, and are sharp enough to dent bone.
Weaknesses:
Cannibalistic - Must consume the flesh of humans or humanlike beings to survive.
Pyrophobic - Fire damages her twice as much as a normal human. Large amounts of flame (campfire or more) trigger an innate fight or flight response.
Biography:
Bryn was born and raised in Oasis Central, a main settlement in the dystopian wasteland America, in an alternate dimension. Even though being raised in a city was slightly less harsh than the wilderness, Bryn's family was poor, and she lacked education growing up. Her family were also mutants, a fact they did their best to hide, because although a ghoul's strength would be appreciated, their eating habits certainly were not. Because of this, Bryn rarely had enough to eat. Fortunately whatever had mutated them also meant their children rarely survived long enough to be born, and Bryn was a rare only child.
Most people expected the scrappy little girl to become a gladiator, but she didn't want to be stuck hiding in the city, or be looked at too closely. So she trained and was tenacious, following the rangers around until they accepted her as one of their own, before officially joining at 16. Even though the life expectancy for a ranger was only about 20 years, Bryn's endurance and ability to work well in a team served her well. And each day she survived gave her more experience.
This might've gone on for the rest of her life. But one day she went to sleep and woke up elsewhere. She didn't know it at the time, but the strange place she'd found herself in was Manta Carlos. Not letting herself worry too much about how she'd got here and instead focusing on getting out, Bryn had managed to get out of the forest she'd somehow gotten into and find people.
They took her to the police where she was situated as much as possible. Bryn is determined to find her way back home, but she's not going to turn down the resources she's been given.
Resources:
Nothing but her wits. No fixed residence. Temporarily receiving a small stipend for food until she can get a job.
Additional Information:
For Dystopian Dimension plot.
Not an official student, but taking mandatory culture classes.
Most of her fighting was done with a chainsaw. But she could also do hand-to-hand and use a handgun if needed.
