Race/Species: Blood dragon

Appearance Description:

Alaric is tall at six foot three, very slim, and above all else, royal. Pureblooded, chillingly beautiful, absolute royalty. He has flowing white hair, tied back often with a red striped bow, and long pointed features on pale skin, lightly kissed by rosiness. His eyes are pure red, the most refined and bold version of the color possible, with long lashes and an always cool, calculating edge to them.

Alaric is always elegant, posture both perfect and fluid, and in control. He is very rarely threatened, or outwardly affected in general by those lesser than him, but will show easy superiority and move quickly to put others in their place. The way he wields his status is very clear, noticeable to anyone at all familiar with royalty, and effortless. He's not usually openly malicious, instead taking on an easy politeness, but there's always a subtle warning hanging in the air with him.

He favors shades of red, white, and silver in his wardrobe. A near constant is claw accessories, an old dragon society symbol of status, and he has the longest as he's heir prince. They're mostly for that purpose as well as being stylish, but... he has used them as weapons before while in humanoid form.

He's either dressed to the nines, full high society 'I'll be king some day'- and then even when forced to be more casual, his clothes are always spotless and perfect, as well as clearly expensive and extremely well made. His taste in things is traditional class with just a pinch of pretty boy thrown in, and sometimes a whole lot of 'better than you'.

Alaric is beautiful, and nowhere near soft.

Dragon form:

Alaric is a very big european dragon, larger than a normal sized house and very imposing. It additionally always appears as though his surface is flowing with blood. It's very off putting. He's very powerful but also surprisingly precise, humanoid grace carrying over, or perhaps the other way around. He's all over sharp edged, please don't try to ride him or cling onto him unless you want to be automatically ripped open.

Personality Description:

Alaric is a prince, charming, eloquent, and cold inside. He has a natural commanding, powerful presence, and can be very threatening without appearing as though he's doing it with purposeful malicious intent, but that it's simply what he is. He deserves to be looked at, to be superior, has all the reasons in the world to be and you know it. Some are simply born to be better.

Please do not make any mistakes, when peering in at his purest self. He will rip you to shreds without a single glimmer of remorse, without ever seeing you as a real person. You aren't special to him, and never will be. Above all, what Alaric most worships is himself, and everything else is garbage that's in the way.

But oh, is he ever charming.

Alaric is power spoken in smooth, soft tones, tempting and sweet tasting, a sugar lure. He naturally draws others in with his status, way of holding himself, and strength. One can hardly blame them for being so easily trapped. He's the epitome of good manners, enough to fool almost anyone that doesn't drag out any touchy subjects or have powers around seeing into the true nature of others. But truly. He's very dedicated to being the perfect prince, the perfect future king.

He has quite a lot of feelings around his own power, superiority, and success. His blood is perfect, his magic genius, he fits his role like no one else can. He's obsessed.

Alaric is prejudiced in so many ways. Against non-dragons, halfbloods, non blood dragons even more specifically, those that aren't nobility, those that aren't from his family directly… He's an elitist to the extreme. If he can get away with it, he'll ignore someone of extremely lower status completely. It's how he's been taught, but also, always more excuses to place himself on the highest pedestal in the world. He truly believes that he is above all else.

The definition of a god complex.

Past his blinding ego, Alaric is a scholar. He adores blood magic and is always striving to get ahead with it, using it for pure enjoyment as well as his own purposes. He all around appreciates magic and other higher, intelligent pursuits, always ready to read a new book or listen to an interesting lecture, and isn't against the arts. He excelled in his private schooling back home. He's not fond of more ordinary things unless it's with someone he likes (and the people Alaric likes can be counted on one hand).

Alaric, with his inherent bloodlust, superiority, and need to dominate, can be eventually pushed to fighting those he thinks can make a vague match for him. Others, he'll simply snub in public… and perhaps get to later, much more privately, in a very special setting.

Alaric will be quietly insulted by many things, but is not one to throw whiny fits. Only cold eyes and promises of later destruction.

Alaric is very subtle, with a lifetime of experience around putting on a perfect appearance, and even his family doesn't get the truth of what he's like and feels. Those 'close' to him know him as a hardworking perfectionist, kind but very respectful and serious about his name and reputation, a bit distant but ultimately well meaning. He is quiet, sad disappointment that truly lingers rather than snappy lectures. He's the eldest prince, and future king.

Powers/Species traits:

Blood dragon

Alaric is a blood dragon. He can shift forms between humanoid and dragon, and has more than the typical draconian strength and senses, as well as a very mild healing factor that actually replenishes more blood than anything else.

Pain only makes me stronger:

As his species is known for, Alaric has a lot of inherent bloodlust, and gains power from injuries- his own and those he inflicts on others. This is a blessing and a curse, though possibly leaning more towards the second, as it leads him to constantly desire to make fantasies of pain and red into a reality. Alaric, by far, is more on the sadistic spectrum of this than the masochistic (though it's undeniable he'll enjoy himself from the thrill of a good all out fight, and from his own damage as well as his enemy's.)

The more damage Alaric receives and personally gives, the more power he gets, the more of an absolute terror he is. And although he can go into an absolute berserker mode with this, it can get gradually more draining, and eventually cause a black out or even his own death.

Blood magic:

Not every blood dragon has this, and it truly is a gift. And who better to wield such a thing, than someone with some of the most noble, royal blood in the world? Alaric has been utterly fascinated and obsessed with blood, and blood magic, for the hundreds of years he's been alive. He has both a clinical interest, and a deep, heated passion for it all, and is a genius in working with it.

As long as there is a source of lifeblood, Alaric can use it for many things. Blood is truly a special sort of resource. He can control it while fluid to move in certain ways, use it for harmful blasts, or sharpen into constructs and weapons. In full dragon form, he can use blood breath. He can use blood for a main energy source in spells, or to add to any normal witchcraft a real bang and more clinging, binding power. Blood sticks, more than other things.

The more blood he has access to, the more he can do. Alaric can take his own blood for this (which he has an above average supply of, but it's hardly everlasting), or use the blood of others- and he can use older, kept blood at well, but it simply isn't as good for these things, and should only be a source for small, unimportant spells and the like.

Alaric can magically pull (a tug, not an immediate drain) at blood flowing inside a body if some of it is already exposed and leaking out- but unless he's intimately familiar with a person and their blood, very personally, already, he can't control the blood kept completely inside someone with no injuries. He'll have to slice them open first, and if that can't happen, he can't do anything.

Biography:

The Draganarakta clan is a noble family line of purebred blood dragons, proud and powerful. Alaric was born the oldest heir prince, given high quality royal training (from etiquette to combat), and expected to take his current and future role extremely seriously. He was always very busy growing up, very serious, no room for questioning or weakness. He was made to be perfect.

And dangerous. Inherited bloodlust in your system hardly bodes well for someone who was created for greatness, for no mistakes.

There were a lot of things that were okay to kill. Animals. Not people, other dragons (not outside of battle, that is), no. Doing things to animals, experimenting on them to figure out both his blood magic's workings as well as for personal need, it worked for a while. Eventually, it became very clear to Alaric that this couldn't be ignored. Handling it like it was being handled would just end in his doing something everyone would regret, and ruining their family's reputation. That couldn't, wouldn't, happen.

He moved on to things that had a little more fight than animals, a little more worth, but not by much. Nobody would miss them, and that was absolutely fascinating. Their blood was filth, and somehow mesmerizing. He used them slowly, and was always very conscious of what he was doing, what he was going through with. Alaric had never been confused, never misled or not understanding of how pain worked and what it was to other people. Even with his urges, he was always been cold and precise at his core. His crimes may be passionate, but they are also always methodically planned.

As a dragon, his direct siblings usually had quite an age gap between them, and felt a bit distant. The heir princess and second oldest, his sister Aricia, was always the person he'd been closest to and related to the most. She never knew of the hobby he held so dearly to his heart, but that was for her own good, not because he didn't trust her.

Except, he wished he'd shared his coping techniques with her, because… she ended up snapping. In a meeting, which Alaric had of course attended, his sister killed their grandfather and a noble dragon from an allied family. She fled, and Alaric was left to clean up the mess, try to look good to make up for things, stop family feuds from starting… It made it harder for him to take breaks and do what he needed to do, what he needed to not end up the same as his sister. It was a trainwreck.

Aricia was technically an exile, but they still tried to find her. He tried a lot. On the surface he was sore, angry, felt betrayed for multiple reasons- that she never came to him, told him she was struggling with this, as well as the selfish feelings that she had hurt their family and rule and then just left. Gone without a trace. But he was also in pain, wanted his sister back. He cared about her like he didn't for anyone else. Everyone else was so. So dirty. It wasn't fair. They were perfect.

Were. Past tense. He still wanted her back.

It's been several decades since then, with his sister still gone, perhaps even dead by then, and Alaric only growing further into his role. His status, his coldness, his superiority, his perfection.

He really misses her, though.

Manta Carlos is a bustling, important place. Both as a representative for his royal family and part of his learning how to move in the world, he's been sent to live there for a while in a beautiful mansion that hasn't had residents in years. He expects good things to come out of this, as he expects from most things, and believes he can be a strong presence and do well for his family name. As well as play around with all the interesting selections of blood such a diverse place offers.

It'll be good.

Additional Information:

Older brother to Aricia Draganarakta.

Alaric is a serial killer that has an obsession with blood, often keeping victims over long periods of time, studying them and bleeding them out slowly, experimenting with them. He does not kill quickly, or mercifully, and only has eyes for his own sick fascination. The crime scenes that have been found are... very disturbing, a mix of elegant experimentation from a clearly educated individual, as well as passion. His nickname in this area is The Bloodletter.
