Yoka honestly could not remember the last time she had Japanese food.

The kitsune was dressed in a pencil skirt, a tight blouse, and had her hair pulled up in a bun and affixed with a large butterfly clip. She was wearing a pair of red reading glasses low on her nose to complete the sexy librarian look. She liked to believe it worked for her, and the tips she'd gotten at work furthered that, though of course Yoka was not wearing a dance outfit to dinner, oh no.

She cut a striking image, striking enough that she thought she would immediately be seated, and when her reputation was added in....

"You have got to be kidding me, what do you mean you're booked for the evening?" Yoka asked the waitress.

"Well...we have one table but....you'd have to share. Let me see if the gentleman minds some company."

The waitress left to check with the mysterious stranger. Yoka had no idea who he was, but no matter where he was seating, he'd have a perfect view of the slim fox who so desperately wanted to eat her body weight tonight.

Kei had been quite lucky, he had arrived just in time to fetch the only available table on the Japanese bar. His fox ears moved immediately when he heard a waitress walking towards him…odd, they had only handed the menu at him a couple of seconds ago, they couldn’t expect him to be ready to order this soon.

His amber eyes left the menu, his nine tails moving lightly to show his confusion when the waitress walked up to him.

She explained the situation to him in a hurry, he could tell by the sweet-taking and his behavior that whoever wanted to share a table with him was somehow important. He just nodded at the waitress politely after the whole thing, he would’ve accepted the company even without the explanation, he didn’t mind company…as long as they didn’t try to harm him or steal his food.

As soon as the waitress left his gaze returned to the menu, his serious neutral expression never leaving his face. He already knew what he was going to order, he always ordered the same each time he went to a place with Japanese food after all, but he still checked the rest of the menu to see if anything else caught his eye as well.

Yoka wasn't exactly floored when the waitress led her to her dinner guest for the evening, but for the first time in a long time, Yoka was actually caught off guard.

Another kitsune.

She was not naive to think she was the only kitsune on the island. Yoka knew for a fact that there was a young one attending the academy at the moment. She also knew there were other kitsune far older than her. These were facts.

Yoka was still surprised.

She recovered quickly, approaching the table calmly and sliding onto the edge of the seat so her long legs dangled towards the floor. She had on a pair of red heels and lipstick to match.

"So you're the person I need to thank for letting me have dinner tonight when I didn't make a reservation," Yoka said.

Kei’s ear flicked lightly when he heard the steps of the waitress and someone else. He raised his gaze once more, noticing the sexy looking girl that came with the waitress. He felt some odd kind of kinship with her…Interesting.

He closed the menu in a polite way, placing it in front of her seat so she could see it as well, he already knew exactly what he was going to order alongside his inarizushi after all, so he didn’t need to keep reading it.

“I guess that you can consider us both lucky, miss, since I reserved on the very last second” His voice was serious and calm, just like always, but there was also this usual carefree tone of a trickster somehow hidden behind his words.

“Would you grant me the honor to know your name, miss? Mine’s Kei Daisuke”.

"That was good luck indeed," Yoka said.

She held her hand out to him, her red nails matching her lips and heels, in an invitation to handshake, and then turned her attention to the menu he'd so kindly set before her. Her eyes scanned the page, but Yoka had a feeling she knew what she wanted. Aburaage, inarizushi, and sweet adzuki beans.

"My name is Yoka Sake," she said, flipping through the last few pages of the menu. Her eyes lingered on her namesake, the sake. It was rumored to be delicious here, but she'd been abstaining for some time. It wasn't always easy to hide her tails when she was drunk, and while Yoka wasn't exactly secretive about her heritage, she didn't advertise it, either.

"So how long have you been on the island?" she asked Kei.

Kei politely accepted the handshake, careful to not harm her by accidentally scratch her skin with his sharp claws.

A small smile made his way to his lips as he heard her name, it wasn’t something common to find someone that shares her name with an alcoholic drink after all. He grew a bit curious towards the subject, wondering if she liked or not said drink. He personally liked sake, though not in large amounts thanks to the trouble that he had to control himself and his powers if he got drunk.

“Not too long, maybe a week or two” After living for almost a thousand years, it was pretty obvious that time went a bit faster for him than for most creatures, so that amount of time was fairly short for him “What about you? Apparently you’re somehow well-known or important around this place if the ones working here decided to make you share a table with me instead of make you wait”.

"Only a week or so?" Yoka said, her eyes glancing from the menu to him. "Then you haven't even had the time to see all the sights the island has to offer."

The waitress came, and Yoka gve her order, then waited for him to do the same before she considered his question about being well known.

"Well,' Yoka started. "I own a club and while I would like to believe that my reputation here has to do with my long-standing patronage of this restaurant but...."

Yoka flashed a glance at one of the waitresses who walked by, eyeballing her and the second fox.

"I think it's because of what happened the last time I wanted adzuki and had to wait," Yoka laughed. She left it up to him to decide if she was joking or not.

"So tell me, Mr. Daisuke, what brings you to the island? Business or pleasure?"

Kei gave his order to the waitress as well. But it was obvious that his attention was focused on Yoka more than anything else.

He just raised an eyebrow and one of his mischievous smiles escaped from his grasp, he tried to act calm and cool around people, especially if he just met them like he did with Yoka, but he couldn’t really help it. He was curious and wanted to ask details about that little incident, but he bit his tongue instead, if she wanted to share it, she would do later.

“I heard of this place and it caught my interest, so you can say that I’m here just by curiosity” He left aside the fact that he would need to get a job soon, since his money would start to run out at some point. He wasn’t worried at the moment, but he would like it more if he didn’t had to worry about it at all.

“It’s something unusual for me to cross paths with someone that make me feel so comfortable, I’ll have to apologize in advance if I offend you with my question, but are you a kitsune too?”.
