Analu was far from pleased about his assignment. The exile of Lelei was supposed to be permanent, with the implied impossibility of his return to the ocean, much less the kingdom. So unless he misheard the sentencing, or misread the official writings, the Council was going against the meaning of permanent by not only allowing Lelei back, but even going so far as to send Analu to get him, like he was some kind of errand boy. It did not help that they insisted he seek out Lelei on the land for expediency instead of what he wanted to do, which was to send some kind of signal from the safety of the water and wait for Lelei's no doubt eager return. But no. There he was, taking steps onto dry land and hating the feeling of his own weight bearing down on him as he left the water.

If there was any consolation, it was that his arrival on the island was during the early morning, so most land dwellers would not be out and about. Analu would have an hour or two of relative calm and solitude to find Lelei, or get to where he was located, before people started coming out of the wood work and probably making a big deal of his presence. Not so much the fact that he was a shark person on land--Lelei's presence had probably inured them to that kind of thing--but most because Analu was essentially naked in their eyes.

Wearing only what amounted to jewelry and accessories, Analu walked across the beach of Manta Carlos, through the woods, through as little of the city as he could manage, and onto the Academy. For students who knew the on-and-off teacher Lelei, Analu was a different sight entirely. He shared the same general humanoid-shark physiology, but he was leaner and thinner than the hulking Lelei. His coloring was dark grey as opposed to Lelei's water blue, small blue accents across his thinner tail. Instead of single head fin like Lelei, Analu had two longer, pointed fins situated towards the sides of his head and pointing back, looking like large fox or elf ears. Where Lelei had worn to cover himself, Analu wore strands of beads and pearls that sat around his waist and neck, several arm bands made of shiny stone and metal, and piercings in his "ears". Otherwise he was completely uncovered. In his hand he carried a shiny metal tube, possibly a container of some sort.

Darting his cyan eyes about the Academy grounds, Analu found the nearest person and grabbed their wrist.

"You! Tell me the Whereabouts of a shark named Lelei! Tall, bulky, blue colorings. Has a taste for boys."

Solaris Vergilius Augustine

To be honest, Solaris didn't really like Starlight Academy, let alone Manta Carlos as a whole. The place was just too strange for him, and he wasn't above admitting that everything that happened there really freaked him out. Because seriously. Aliens, robots, reality warpers. That, that thing which was the sex ed teacher. Oh God, thinking about that one put a violent shudder up his spine. He actually felt sorry for some of the students, sometimes. The rest of the time, he couldn't help but wonder how many ticking time bombs were sitting in on his English classes.

But the pay was good, and the job seemed stable enough. It didn't seem like the Academy actually fired anybody -people just kind of up and left whenever they wanted to, which was good for him because then if anything really especially strange happened, he could collect his paycheck and be on the next boat out. He hadn't even been at the Academy that long, but he already had a list of incidents that had been a few hairs short of pushing him to that. And there was absolutely nothing wrong with that! It was just the normal reaction to dealing with the supernatural -Solaris just couldn't understand how some people could deal with these things so easily.

As he came to the courtyard, he noticed a distinctive figure standing there. Is that Lelei? He thought it was, because the general shape seemed more or less right. Shark person. Yep. That was the extent of what Solaris cared to observe because Lelei was just yet another person at the school that he wanted nothing to deal with. Because he was a freaky fish man. Solaris felt that was a very fair observation. He pulled his rice patty hat down a little bit more, hoping that if he couldn't see Lelei, then he could just slip on by without any problems or acknowledgement.

Hearing footsteps coming after him, Solaris began to walk a little faster but stopped completely when his wrist was grabbed by something rubbery feeling. The sensation almost made him jump out of his skin but as he turned around to squeak something like Um hi Lelei I didn't see you there can you let me go, he realized that the person he was looking down on wasn't Lelei at all.

OH MY GOD THERE'S TWO OF THEM NOW. Horrified, he stared for a few moments, questioning every decision that had led him to Manta Carlos in the first place.

At the question from the new freaky fish man, Solaris shook his head frantically, pulling his wrist away. "Yeah, um. I have no idea. I don't even care what Lelei does, yep, no. Oh- oh, I have, um. Things to do. Yeah." It didn't seem very convincing, though, so after a quick moment of thought, he suddenly pointed in a random direction. "Oh hey look! What's that over there?"

With that, he attempted to make a hasty exit.

Ian felt like a mummy. It hurt to move, he wished he was still in bed, and he was practically swaddled in bandages. Rest was impossible for him, though. Remaining still? Other people bringing him stuff? Letting work go unfinished? Blasphemy. The perpetual aching of his body did little to improve his mood, and the occasional stinging pains of overexertion only made the curmudgeon more disagreeable. Andre had done a real number on him, and the concussion he was left with made everything fuzzy and blurry. All he could remember was getting out of there somehow and crawling back to the school.

The sights around the Academy were always strange to him. Half the people in that school could end the world if they tried hard enough, but they were more interested in gossiping on relationships and speculating on which guy is gay and which isn't. There were probably better places to get an education... And better places to improve his power. However, in a joke of a school like this, Andre was able to double the range, speed, and strength of Dead Kennedys as well as control its power to such a degree as to duplicate even intangible concepts. That's just a kick in the junk, that is.

Ian walked out of the dormitory building and into the courtyard. Some of the students had turned to look at a large fish-person who seemed to have grabbed the wrist of one of the teachers. The teacher was Mr....Augustine! Ian didn't have any classes with him, he didn't think, but he'd seen him around. Good guy, pretty normal and probably pretty good at his job. If someone was giving him trouble... Well, how could Ian stand for that? Even in his state. With quicker strides than he should be taking in his condition Ian crossed the courtyard and walked up to the imposing carcharodon and the now squirming teacher. Ian grabbed onto Analu's wrist with his bandaged hand, the throbbing pain in his body making him a bit less subtle.

"I am the great god-damn Pharaoh Assholetep and I demand you unhand this guy!" He was covered with bandages, and his coat seemed to flow like a robe, so maybe Ian's claim to Egyptian royalty wasn't too far off...

"Well? Well?"

Analu looked to be in quite the hurry, and Solaris' stalling was working on his nerves. When Analu failed to receive an immediate answer AND after Solaris yanked himself free, the grey shark man became quite peeved and started to bear some of his many many teeth. He took a step towards the man and looked about ready to grab him again.

"Spit it out, man! Or tell me where I can find someone el--"

Before Analu could grab at Solaris' wrist again, his OWN wrist was grabbed and he whipped his head around to see what the deal was.

"How dare you! What are--"

Perhaps it was a poor choice for Ian to decide to try and be an ancient mummy, because Analu had absolutely no idea what he was looking at. Bandages, a flowing coat, and a fake scary voice. It was more weird and perplexing than it was scary. Not that mummies were scary in the first place anyway.

"What... ARE you...?"

Solaris, meanwhile, would find his escape cut short. The poor man would only get a few strides away before he would run face first into something firm and large. Lelei.

"What... is going on here?"

Solaris Vergilius Augustine

This school so weird why God did I come here? First strange shark people and then some student who may or may not have been pretending to be a mummy -Solaris swore to the highest heaven that he wasn't getting paid enough to deal with this kind of stuff. So, well. Seeing it as definitely not his problem, totally could be handled one hundred percent by a security guard, the man dashed a short distance away before promptly running into a person who had just stepped into his escape route. A person who was very blue and very tall. And solid, holy -fuck what kind of wall just gets up and moves around like this. Only on Manta Carlos.

There were few people that were almost as tall as he was, and even fewer of them who were blue, so Solaris knew immediately that this was probably Lelei. He would be even more sure of it if his eyes weren't watering up from the pain because holy shit my ribs hurt why didn't I just let myself get hit by a truck instead? I bet it would hurt less.

Shuffling back a few steps from Lelei, Solaris bent over himself a bit, holding his ribs, and pointed squarely at where the other freaky fish man and the wanna be mummy were facing off. "I have no idea at all, okay!" He said in a hysteric tone, "That one just came out of nowhere and started asking for you. Do you know each other? Should I go and call security? Because I swear, I didn't do anything and I don't know anything, and I have nothing to do with any of this. At all. Really!"

Deny, deny, deny. That was supposed to help, right? Well, that and running away, but his body kind of hurt a lot so. He just. Hid behind Lelei instead. Considering everything, it seemed like a good call.

The fact that Ian's head was wrapped in bandages might have been what made his 'disguise' work in the beginning. However conviction might be what carries it onwards. Ian spread his arms wide, letting go of Analu's wrist as he spoke. With each word Ian let his voice creak and made little effort to cover how much the exertion was grating on him. "I, the chosen of Ra and the thrice blessed of Osiris, Assholetep of the New Kingdom, Pharaoh of the lands of Egypt and the Talon of Horus, do command you to kneel before He Who Rules the Shifting Sands!" The elaborate gestures Ian made as he spoke threatened to reopen wounds on his arms and torso, and his performance would make even Shatner cringe. "Assholetep demands you reveal why you have accosted this man?" As Ian gestured towards Solaris, he took note of Lelei there as well. The two seemed to be talking, maybe this would all be sorted out soon?

Ian decided to stall for time at the very least, besides, despite the pain, he was having fun at this point. "Answer quickly, for even in death is Assholetep mighty and powerful." What had begun as just a passingly amusing introduction had transcended into strange pantomime show that was distracting the sharkman with the oddity of it more than anything else. "What do you seek here in my kingdom of slightly less water compared to your own?" Ian took two slow steps forward as he spoke, making sure that he was thoroughly up in Analu's business and, hopefully, keeping him from noticing Solaris and who he's talking to.

Ian's performance might have been one of the dumbest things in the recent collective memory of Manta Carlos, but it was holding Analu's attentions. Analu was not have been able to understand or comprehend what he was seeing and hearing. It was all so strange and foreign, not unlike human eyes looking into the many mouths of madness. Only without the insanity parts or Analu turning into salt or something.

"I'm... I'm sorry. I... Don't even know what I'm looking at. What are you talking about? Forget it. Just stop whatever you're doing. Right now."

Lelei had his own problems to deal with as well. Solaris was a mess, and only after bumping into Lelei! The shark man would have hated to be that fragile, physically or emotionally, as was apparently the case with Solaris. He reached out a hand to lightly tap his back, offering some amount of comfort to the Man Who Was Afraid Of Everything.

"Just slow down. I'm security. Sort of. What's got you all--"

He followed Solaris' finger, right to the dark grey shark man. Lelei's eyes narrowed and he immediately stepped around Solaris to approach. Analu was too distracted to notice Lelei walking up, or to stop Lelei whipping him around to face him.

"What're YOU doing here? Don't you have other lives to ruin?"

Analu, initially shocked by the spin, crossed his arms and glared back.

"And don't you have a human boy to touch? Or are you stuck guarding these freaks you now reside with?"

He jerked a thumb at Ian, the mummy.

Walking a little too fast through the courtyard, she turned her head towards the school doors she had just exited from. It was a relief that the person that wanted to fight her had vanished around she went through the dorms. Sighing, she slowly turned her head forward, only to violently hit someone in the back. "Oh my fucking-!" She yelled as she hit the ground.

In front of her was a huge blue thing. She had no idea what it was, and quickly got to her feet again to make sure she had her distance. "I'm sorry I crashed, I mean bumped into you." She had no idea what to think, and she quickly looked around to see that the other people had just about the same expressions on their faces. She had bumped into the wrong person at the wrong time.

Oh, oh. So they did know each other! That was just as assuring as Solaris thought it would be -by which he meant, absolutely not at all. Backing away from the confrontation between the two shark men as it began, he was just about to try and make another break for it when all of a sudden, another person stumbled onto the scene, one that he actually recognized. Even though the face was familiar, though, the man couldn't really put a name to it. But he was reasonably sure that he saw that girl in one of his classes. Oh no -what's she doing here? The thought overlapped with another along the lines of What's her name, what's her name, I don't remember! Kara or something like that.

"H-hey! Get away from there!" He made a frantic gesture to somewhere vaguely behind him, trying to get Kara or Carol or whoever that was away from what seemed like an extremely dangerous situation.

On one hand, he had a responsibility as a teacher to make sure that the students -more specifically, his students- were safe. But Lelei was there, wasn't he? And he was much bigger than this other freaky shark person so he was probably perfectly capable of handling the problem himself. It seemed simple enough. So on the other hand, there was just plain old running away which Solaris was heavily in favor of. And to be honest, responsibilities? That. Just wasn't something he did much of. He didn't like responsibilities, he didn't want responsibilities. They were mislabeled liabilities, really.

Yet. He still had them anyways, right? This really sucks. But it wasn't like he could actually do anything in this situation anyways. Because, well. What? Should he just take his hat off and try and beat somebody over the head with it? That was more or less the extent of what he could do to "help."

Gulping in distress, he took out his phone and sent a text to the one person who actually put up with him. There's a sharkman here with Lelei. What do I do? Even while terrified, his grammar was perfect, because that was very important. Very important.

He was an English teacher! That's what he did!

Lelei hardly noticed Claire bumping into his rear. He was so focused on the grey shark in front of him, that he ignored everyone else around him. The same could be said for Analu, who walked right up to Lelei and stared daggers at him. For a few moments, the two shark men tried to burn holes in each others' heads with their eyes. The only thing missing from their silent confrontation was primal growling. But sharks were not exactly made for growling, unless the low angry gurgling coming from Lelei's throat could be classified as growling.

"Do NOT call them freaks, Analu. These are teachers and students trying to make their way in this world, and they don't need judgmental people like you looking down on them."

The way he stuck out his hand a little behind him, it was like he was trying to corral Solaria behind him in a gesture of protection.

"Whatever. I'm not here for their opinions, so they can listen in all they want."

Clearing his throat, Analu stood up straight and took on a rather condescendingly professional tone.

"The Council requests your presence regarding a matter of kingdom security. Your exile has been temporarily lifted so that you may make a physical appearance."

Lelei made a look that could have been interpreted as raising an eyebrow.

"What is this matter exactly? And what do I get out of doing this?"

"Well, the Council may look into rescinding your exile and ignoring your past transgressions with that human boy..."

Lelei turned a light shade of red, and his eye twitched in irritation.

"And I don't know the details, but I think it has something to do with the... Deep One."
