Solaris Vergilius Augustine
"R-right," the man said, sputtering at Lelei's reassurances. "Wouldn't want something like the dinosaur incident again." Which, dear God, it had been utterly terrifying. That day, Solaris had been teaching on the other side of the school so he hadn't even known about what had been happening until they could hear the screams coming from down the hall. He felt terrible that something like that had happened but realistically, he personally couldn't have done anything about it so he did the next best thing and got everybody out. Which was exactly the same as what was happening in this situation, he assured himself quickly.
"Hey, don't you think you should be a bit more selective in asking people to go with you?" He couldn't help but ask Lelei. "I don't even know what kind of powers these two have. And personally, unless you need somebody going around and making random sheets of tissue paper for you, I think I'd be useless going on anything as dangerous as that. So I guess I'd have to bow out of this, sorry. Jacob might be more of what you're looking for, huh? Or maybe Ms. Berlin and Mrs. Aurora?" It made more sense to send off teachers to do this sort of thing instead of students, right? But then again, there were so few of them, and not all of them were particularly powerful.
Wow, we're really kind of short on help here, aren't we? Suddenly, Solaris could understand how he had managed to get the job so easily. They were probably desperate for more staff.
At the concern from one of the students again, he automatically found himself saying, "Oh no, no, I'm fine really. Just. Shaken up. Ha." There was an awkward moment then, during which he realized that Wait, this guy looks familiar, too. But just as with the girl, Solaris couldn't put a name to him immediately. Worriedly, he asked, "You're not really going to go off with Lelei, are you? Because that would be dangerous." Which was obvious, sure, but maybe if he said it enough times, people would just act like the Academy was an ordinary school and not blow up things on a regular basis?
