Tuesday watched the candles curiously as they cranes towards the center of the circle, and even more so as they changed intensities. Their magic was working and the focus of all their efforts- the central bonfire was starting to do... something. They couldn't really predict what the actual result of their ritual would be but hopefully whatever was forming there would give them answers or at least some good insight on the situation.

If they could keep the ritual going and not cause a disaster of some sort. Tuesday was actually really pleased at the humming orchestra of magic emanating from the stones. Anything that blocked out the crushing weight of silence was a good thing in her book.

Then the unseen force collided with their protective circle and the shudder could be felt throughout the clearing. Tuesday leapt into action as soon as the first candle was blown out. She ran over and, while still keeping up the chant, she quickly ran through the series of gestures required to cast new flames into the darkened candle.

By then the second candle had gone out too so she did it once more to try relighting that one too.
The combined effort of those two spells in such quick succession though began to take a toll almost immediately. She was already sweating and her breathing was getting heavy. Cami growled up at the sky and stayed close to Tuesday, ready to pounce on any foes that came close to her. The wolf was not loyal to anyone but Tuesday.

Sunday

Sunday's voice remained steady throughout the ritual, even as forces collided with their protective barrier. She glanced upwards but not for long, beginning to pinch rays of firelight between her fingers. Like putty, she molded the essence of fire into a rod and using it, tried to relight the candle closest to her. As she did so, she kept with the chant, eyeing her brother and sister witches with concern and preparing for the worst.

It looked like the spell was starting to take hold, slowly but surely, but any joy or excitement Wednesday would have felt was swiftly diminished by the Terror slamming against their barrier. Her cat hissed in fright, and Wednesday nearly stumbled over her words, barely maintaining her chant along with the rest of the Witches.

Fortunately, her own family’s curse had meant she’d learned to be prepared for this. While the others worked to keep the candles lit. she tapped another symbol drawn onto her sleeve, and one of the other symbols she’d been preparing before hummed to life just behind her. This one wasn’t part of the ritual, instead, it was designed to teleport everyone standing on it to a corresponding symbol in her room.

They would have an escape if they needed it, she just hoped the Terror wouldn’t rip the barrier down and kill them all before they had the chance to take it.

Thr candles were easy enough to light again, but doing so did not imbue them with the white flame that they had previously held. Each relit candle seemed woefully mundane by comparison, in fact. If the pace of the white flame candles was to be believed, they would all snuff out in around three minutes now.

The image in the central fire was starting to take shape. A humanoid figure holding a long object. It was still vague, but with each passing second it coalesced further and became clearer. At this rate, given the power of the ritual, it very likely wasn't going to be fully visible by the time the timer ran out.

They would have to think of something else, and fast.

Well shit, apparently relighting the candles was a waste of time and power. Tuesday sighed and looked at the others, worry creeping onto her face. Taking in how slowly the figure was forming compared to how their candle timer was counting down made it pretty damn clear. There was no way they would get the information they sought before the timer ran out and... well if the shuddering against their protective barrier was any indication, it would be real bad.

"If we can't slow the timer then.... we have to put more power into this... i hope we can hold out," she called to the others before walking up closer to the fire. Memories from the last time she'd made a sacrifice involving a fire ritual flashing through her head. That time she'd lost her hand for it.

This time though she hoped blood would be enough to give the ritual enough extra power. She paused to kneel down and offer her hand towards Cami. "Do it," she commanded in a whisper. After a brief whine Cami complied and bit deeply into Tuesday's only hand. The metallic tinge of blood took to the air as she began bleeding fairly significantly.

Tuesday sent Cami a feeling of gratitude as she stepped even closer to the fire and began to fling her fresh blood into the flames. Reciting an incantation- and offering more of her magical power in addition to the blood in hopes that the ritual would be strengthened.

The goal was to return to stand upon the emergency teleport symbol after her offering but she wasn't sure how much she would have to give to make a difference. Or if it would even work at all.

Wednesday watched as Tuesday’s blood dripped into the fire. She was right, they needed to speed the process up. The young witch decided to follow her lead.

Wednesday knelt down to the glowing ring she stood over and began adding modifiers to the symbols to draw more of her mana, adding to the rest of the ritual. It likely wouldn’t provide as strong a boost as the blood, but with Tuesday presence acting as an amplifier, it should draw out a good amount of power.

Wednesday started to feel the strain almost immediately, she maintained her chant, but quieter.

Hiatus
The panic that dwelled in Saturday's mind was very close to taking over, this was one of the nightmares he saw at night, standing under the open sky as the terror flew above, ready to strike. Although in the nightmare he was always alone with no protection. Now he had the younger witches, Toto and the spell.

"Slow the timer..."
Saturday muttered, and looked at the candles. Of course! He threw off his jacket and got to work. In a time it took for one more candle to go out he drew one more circle, right next to the inner side of the candle ring. He drew some runes, runes that slowed time to half of its speed, and with a deep throat voice spoke three magic words of past, present and future, and he ended his spell with an ancient word of "Wait". Because time may wait for no one but Saturday wanted to force it to wait for him.
This spell was supposed to slow the time everywhere but inside the ring Saturday drew to half of its original speed, but it wouldn't slow down the ritual itself. They should have double the time to complete their ritual now.

The toll of all these spells started to weigh on Saturday, and he rolled up his sleeves and pantlegs and went on all fours, pressing his forearms and calves against the ground in order to gain even a little mana back.

As the witches worked, their efforts seemed to make all the difference. The flames in the central fire grew brighter and it seemed as though the candles were snuffing out more slowly. The Terror remained, bashing away at the barrier but unable to break through.

As the ritual continued the image in the fire took more precise form. A man, tall and lean and wrapped in furs. Carrying a staff made of a splintered wooden head held together by some kind of crystal. He looked tired, but friendly. Like a grandfather who had worked himself harder than he needed to to make sure his family had all they needed.

The circle of candles was slowly running out however and it wasn't clear if the image in the flames would give the witches any further information. It was up to them to decide what to do from there.

The strain showed clearly on Saturday's face, as he directed his magic to the ritual itself, the barrier and time slowing spell. His magic was running out, and sweat was forming on Saturday's brow. If this went òn for much longer his magic would be completely drained and Saturday could even pass out. And that wasn't an option.
Saturday looked at the central fire, remembered exactly the features of the figure within the flames. Was he the one responsible for the snow? Who- or whatever he was he was directly linked to the snow. Saturday looked at the southern fire, that was still burning the brightest. Was that the direction he could be found from?
They'd all have to get out of here alive and discuss it, together.

Saturday flinched ever so slightly every time the terror hit the barrier, and Toto screeched at it as if thinking he was threatning. It would've been amusing if Saturday wasn't terrified.
"We need to leave. I won't be able to slow the time much longer, or keep up the barrier."
Saturday called out, still on all fours, trying to replenish his magic as it ran out, no matter how little he could get back.
