Evie Everson

Evie is a short young woman, standing just under 5'1 with a slim, toned figure. Her eyes are grey and her bleached white hair is kept short.
She tends to dress sporty, wearing clothes that are loose and make moving around easy. Almost everything she wears has some kinda shitty print or shitposty slogan on it.
Personality: Capricious, carefree, and tomboyish are easy ways to describe Evie. It’s rare to see the girl take anything seriously, always smirking about something, always joking around. Most people would assume she’s incapable of considering the consequences of her actions, just doing whatever she thinks is fun.
She’s very mischievous, plenty of students at the academy have been victim to one of her pranks, and she delights in messing with others and getting a rise out of them. Her jokes are rarely malicious, however. At the end of the day, she just enjoys making herself and others laugh and tends to get along with anyone who will indulge her.
She spends so much time being a jokester that even when she’s less happy she won’t let it show. She rarely allows herself to feel much negative emotion, preferring to throw herself into her pranks or any other method of escapism, acting out less for her own amusement and more to just distract herself. As a result, she tends to be a lot more apathetic than she seems at first glance. It’s not very often she lets people see that side of her, though. Letting people know who she is under all the jokes is a scary thing, its safer to keep people out, lest she go through the terrifying ordeal of letting people know the real her.
Still, if nothing else, she’s generally friendly. Assuming she hasn’t targeted someone for her antics yet.
Active Abilities:
Gravity Shift:
- Evie is able to change the direction of the pull of gravity on her body. Effectively, this allows her to "fall" in any other direction, simulating flight, as well as letting her walk on walls and ceilings like its the floor.
- Evie is able to change the strength of gravity when applied to herself.
- She is able to do this two ways, either increasing its strength of decreasing its strength at a factor of 50.
- At its strongest, she's able to increase the apparent weight of an average man (around 90kg/195lb) to about the same weight of a fully grown elephant (around 5 tons). At its weakest, they would weigh just under 2kg.
- Evie is also able to utilise her powers on other people or objects around her in the same way she would on herself.
- Changing the gravity of others requires physical contact, and if they move over 50 meters away from her, the effect disappears.
- Things affected by the shift also receive the adaption as long as they are under the effect.
- Evie is also able to designate anything within her 50 meter range to be where gravity pulls from, causing her or anything else affected by her powers to fall towards that point or object.
Gravity Adaption:
- When changing gravity towards herself, Evie does not suffer from any of the usual negative effects. Meaning she's able to move around at max gravity unimpeded, and keep all her internals undamaged regardless of its strength.
- Evie has an innately intuitive sense of balance, able to maintain her footing on even the most unstable surfaces, as well as always knowing which way is down no matter how she shifts her gravity.
Her parents arrived at their home one day to find a section of their small house wrecked, their son injured and a young Evie sitting on the wall and crying.
They were, understandably, quite distraught to discover their child had some sort of strange powers. Things were hard enough when they were just raising two kids, Evie's newfound abilities had the potential to bring about all sorts of complications, not just with trying to accommodate for them, they also could attract the attention of all sorts of people as a result. In the end, they decided to take what they considered to be the easy solution.
Evie found herself abandoned on the street soon after.
She was without a home for 2 weeks, the only reason she was able to manage being due entirely to the kindness of strangers. Fortunately, she didn't have any more accidents with her powers at the time. Eventually, she was discovered by a man who was able to help her. She was taken off the street and found herself adopted into, of all things, a travelling circus.
Running off to join a circus might be something of a dream for young children, and for Evie, it was enough for her to forget her own sadness for a little while. She stayed with the circus from then on, leaving town with them and helping out behind the scenes in return for a roof and food. Though, the work was largely unnecessary, as many of the people in the circus doted on her. She soon settled into her new life at the circus, until a few weeks later, she had another accident with her powers.
Unlike her parents, the circus was much less apprehensive about the girl's strange abilities. In fact, they were instead greatly impressed, thinking that with her unique abilities that she would be an excellent addition to the show. Evie was much more opposed to using her powers as part of the performance, after all, they led to her being abandoned by her parents in the first place, however, she was eager for a chance to help out more. They agreed to keep the nature of her powers a secret and began helping her develop them further. It took her a long time to get the basics down, but after nearly a year of practice, she was ready to take to the stage.
With Evie's assistance, the show started to see much more success. Acrobats were able to perform death-defying leaps without risk, and strongmen could perform amazing feats of strength. Their popularity grew immensely once Evie started to help out, and she couldn't be happier. She had respect from her new family and admiration from her audience. For a time, Evie was content with her new life.
And then she turned to crime.
She had discovered that a small group within the circus had been committing robberies in the towns they visited, with almost none of the others realising what was happening. When she found this out, they offered to cut her in on the deal. Even if she didn't really like what they were doing, she didn't want to risk splitting up her new family. Plus, the extra money could be nice.
It turned out her powers were a great asset in the group's thievery. With her on board, they began to escalate, from the small, petty crimes from before to even more daring heists. Evie eventually found herself looking forward to their capers, the thrill of it exciting her even more than her regular performances.
However, the greater risk eventually caught up to them. The authorities were able to link the circus to the crimes, and once they came to investigate, the little group started to panic. Wanting to save their own skin, they fingered Evie as the only culprit, convincing the rest of the circus members of their innocence.
Once she found out, she didn't even try to resist as the police took her away.
While she was locked up, she found another stranger approach her. One of the scouts from the academy had found out about her abilities, and made her an offer. To come to the school, learn about the magic world she'd been hidden from for so long, and agree to stop using her powers like this. In return, she'd stay out of jail and have a new place to stay.
With no other options, Evie travelled to Manta Carlos.
