She wondered what sorts of friends Fontaine might have. The other girl's response had told her that the number was probably small but In Suk couldn't imagine that the number would be none at all. It couldn't possibly be, right? Even In Suk herself, maybe she had friends. A person she smile and nodded at from time to time. Somebody to pass a casual conversation by. Was that friendship, then? Were Fontaine's friendships the same as In Suk's?

The thought was a bit saddening. If their friendships were the same, then this would be the deepest any relationship could possibly go. She wasn't even thinking of a romance, just a friendship as shown in her mother's awful and weepy and incredibly griping dramas. That sort of thing that lasts a lifetime and not in the I met this person in high school and I sometimes Like their comments on FaceBook sort of way.

Or maybe this was the start of one of those drama friendships. That would be nice, right? The thought was almost dreamy. In Suk liked to think of herself of practical but the truth was, sometimes in the long stretches, she liked to just imagine. Looking at the shop, she smile, nodded, gripped Fontaine's hand tighter and hoped.

It was funny how lonely somebody could feel after finally meeting somebody that they wished would stick around.

She hadn't really had any time to think about herself, or more In Suk for that matter. It seemed that all the time they had already spend together was some sort of dream. It felt as if the moments that had happened before, leading up to them holding hands and walking together, were a part of some dream. She enjoyed the feeling of the girls' hand entwined with hers. She enjoyed the girls warmth and presence. Fontaine didn't want to push her away, she wanted to be my In Suk's side. She herself wasn't sure what that meant, if this was the start of something more, or maybe just the fact that In Suk was the first person that actually wanted to be around her.

She never would have thought that one person, one girl, could make her act so reckless, as if protecting In Suk was more important than things they would have mattered to her before. Was this what caring about another person felt like? Fontaine had only had a glimpse of it, but she didn't feel like letting go of the girls' hand anytime soon.

Looking over at In Suk as she squeezed her hand, she nodded to the girl, still having a light urge to talk to her in English. Maybe Fontaine would have to take language classes if she ever hoped to talk to her only friend. Looking forward again, she eyed the store, unsure of what exactly it was. It looked almost like a Halloween store, which bottles, accessories and shady colors in the windows. Fontaine didn't bother to look at the stores' name, as she herself wanted to be as surprised as In Suk. Taking a few large steps forward, she pulled the door open after reading the 'open' sign, slinging it open for her and In Suk. Holding it open for the girl, she looked into the store with sceptical eyes as she waited. It looked like some sort of witchcraft store. The store felt very, low to the ground.

As the two girls entered the store, In Suk breathed in a lungful of herb infused air with an undertone of slime and, to her surprise, felt an incredible spike of joy. This, this was just the thing that she had been expecting of the island. Maybe the store in itself wasn't some incredibly obvious, blaring monument to the supernatural but just the fact that it existed made her happy.

She tugged at Fontaine's hand eagerly. Let's go, okay? It didn't matter how big or small the place was. In Suk wanted to see everything, even the dust on the shelves would have been fascinating to her. With every step she took, it was hitting her again and again how even though she was born into a family with powers, nobody had ever been so free with displaying them. When she first set foot on the island, that was when she had been expected to be hit by the freedom of being exactly who she was. She hadn't expected it to be now, in this one shop with an unassuming exterior that she hadn't even known existed just five minutes ago.

She had magic and she had a friend. Life was going well, wasn't it?

Closing the door after the girl walked in, what followed afterwards wasn't as pleasant. So what if it felt a bit... Strange to walk into such a highly fragranced area. The minute the two of them set foot in the store, it was as if her nostrils had left her body, being overruled by scents that her nose didn't want. Maybe it was because she was more sensitive to that type of thing, or maybe it was because the person running the store had no idea on how to keep people from leaving her store after the first step. Looking around, it did seem as if the store itself was antique, rustic, or maybe just plainly old. No matter, it seemed that In Suk was a lot more excited than expected.

Feeling the tug on her hand, she looked over at In Suk, nodding as she started to walk forward slowly, looking from her left, then to her right as she wanted to observe everything. Fontaine hoped that In Suk wouldn't find another mysterious fish to torment, as she herself didn't want to get kicked out of another store. Inspecting a shelf with jars of dried leaves, she could see the layer of dust that covered the container, as well as the shelf itself, as if the store had not been in use for many years. Looking over at In Suk quickly, she smiled, seeing the fascination that the girl was having with such an old shop. Turning back her head in front of her, she kind of wondered as to why they hadn't heard any shopkeeper, or really heard anything at all. It was as if the store was for ghosts.

Silence was well enough In Suk's element. She was, more or less, oblivious to the fact that the place was pretty run down and that the owner was absent. Or, at least, she was oblivious to the implications of it. To In Suk, this was actually wonderful. She passed from shelf to shelf entirely unhindered, touching everything she could get her hands on and wiping grimy fingers off on her skirt. It wasn't like she hadn't done this sort of thing before and clothes could be cleaned pretty easily anyways. In Suk wanted what In Suk wanted and right now, that just so happened to be really studying somebody else's property.

In her defense, nobody will telling her otherwise. And she was being careful. And she was putting everything back. That was fine, right?

But soon enough, she was at the end of the row of shelves, putting back the last thing she was capable of picking up. Actually, short of picking up the shelves themselves, there was not much that the Korean girl could not handle. She frowned a little in thought, wondering if she should do more than a "cursory" examination of what she had already swept over before her eyes fell on a door in the corner.

Obviously, she had to go and take a look!

It felt as if In Suk was more interested in the run down building more than her, as when they started to walk down the aisles of shelves, filled to the brim with dusty goods, it seemed that the girl had to touch everything. Putting her fingerprints on almost everything that she could reach, Fontaine watched her with a light smile across her cheeks, wondering as to why dusty, old items interested her. She kept her pace level with the girls', not wanting to be dragged along by In Suk's fascination.

As they reached the end of the aisle, Fontaine sensed the disappointment in the air. She herself was very relieved, as she didn't have to worry about having to pay for anything, if the store owner did come back. She was rather surprised that In Suk hadn't broken anything. Looking in the same direction as In Suk, she saw the ill-colored door in the corner of the room. Biting her lip, she reluctantly went along with her. It only took a few steps to reach the door.

In those slow steps, it felt as if Fontaine's heart was going to jump out of her. Squeezing In Suk's hand as they were in front of the door, she grabbed the knob, jiggling it lightly. Locked. Looking over at In Suk, she bit her lip harder. Did she want to do something stupid in order to make In Suk happy? Of course! Pushing her back behind herself lightly, she stood, having her side to the door. Raising Fontaine's leg and foot to the knob, as she extended her leg out, it hit the door by the knob, swinging it open. Moving her leg down, she backed up and stood beside In Suk, looking at the dark abyss that she had opened.

As the door opened up to reveal the mysteries behind, In Suk peered deep into the darkness. Once her eyes had adjusted, she could see a flight of steps leading down to some sort of an abyss. Shifting a bit, she saw that she couldn't even see the bottom from the top of the stairs.

Experimentally, In Suk pressed her toe against the surface of the first step down, gripping the worn handrail. The dragonfly in her hair came alive again at the sound of something she could not hear, batting furiously at the locks of hair hanging by her eye. She swept it away and it clung to the hem of her sweater instead, by her shoulder.

She looked back at Fontaine, tilting her head. I think it's safe? her posture appeared to say. What can happen? the girl shrugged.

As she looked down into the abyss of darkness she had just opened, she wondered if it had been a good choice to do so. Looking in between the darkness and In Suk, she pondered the thought of running away. At the same time, as she watched In Suk step forward, if she wasn't scared then there was no reason for them to run away. As the dragonfly that terrorized her came alive again, she watched it, making sure that the thing didn't get into her hair again. Looking at In Suk, she nodded giving her a 'I think we could go down there' look, stepping forward and putting both her feet on the first step. As she looked at In Suk, she smiled lightly, motioning the girl to follow her slowly down.

The steps creaked a bit under her feet as she walked down the steps, with Fontaine leading the way. Though In Suk couldn't hear it, she could certainly feel the faint vibrations through her shoes. Being like this, in the dark with only the light from upstairs to guide them was exciting and she was almost unprepared for the amount of feeling that suddenly griped her. It was a bit of fear but mostly, it was curiosity and the appreciation that somebody else was there with her. After all, In Suk supposed, this was theoretically dangerous, although the sense of danger didn't yet seem like a reality to her.

With one hand on the railing, she fumbled around with her free hand to see if there were any light switches hidden in the shadows but failed. The stairs were surprisingly steep and long running so she brought out her phone and switched the brightness as high up as she could, using it as a makeshift flashlight.

As they started their decent into the unknown darkness, the amount that Fontaine could see got smaller and smaller. Looking back every few seconds to see the progress of her friend, she kept moving downwards at a slow pace. Though she had a strong feeling to turn back and run out of the creepy old building, she knew that she couldn't, as In Suk needed her as much as she needed her. Doing this alone would be far more terrifying.

Taking each step with caution, she jumped as a bright light flipped into the corner of her eye. Calming herself, she looked back and smiled, seeing that In Suk had made a make-shift flashlight. Giving her a thumbs up with her hand that wasn't holding onto the railing, she dropped it quickly and continued down. Stepping onto the next stair, she heard a loud crack, as her right foot fell through the stair. Shocked, she screamed lowly as she fell onto the stair before that, breathing heavily.
