Name: Maria Hippolyta Allfair
Age: 2136 (Looks to be roughly 18-22)
Date of Birth: 5/30, 120 B.C.
Gender: Female
Species: Demigod
Career: Mercenary

Appearance Description: Maria is of pale complexion, with vivid blue eyes and a slight, wiry build. She stands at 5”10 and weighs 145 pounds. Her hair is curly and brown, well-kept and groomed, at about shoulder length. As for outfits, her base colors are a darker blood red and black, with splashes of white. Many of her outfits consist of short mini skirts, white puffy shoulders, and a normal white collar. Her shirts are often low cut. Rather than have her signature colors split the ensemble, the red and black tend to rotate. One boot red, one boot black, one glove black, one glove red, and so on.

She is almost never seen without her two signature pistols, Eros and Polemos. Each pistol is actually two weapons fused together, with custom-built magazines that essentially make the pistols two in one each. In layman's terms, the pistols have two barrels and two triggers each. She also carries a large sword, named David, that looks sort of like a huge bowie knife, almost twice her size.

Personality Description: Maria often craves to be the center of attention. To this end, she is incredibly flirtatious, and something of a showoff, not hesitating to showcase her considerable powers. This often backfires on her, as her lack of self control often leaves her too tired to use her powers when it matters most. She tends to speak shallowly and impressionisticly, and is excessively dramatic at times, often over exaggerating the situation. That said, when sufficiently angered, she often dissolves into a sort of tantrum, becoming even more reckless than before.

She takes her romantic relationships and friendships very seriously, and tends to overestimate just how close she is to somebody. She is very suggestible by those that are close to her, and will believe almost anything told to her by a “Trusted” source. She is, by all means, incredibly passionate, for both love, and, well, war.

Maria is incredibly violent, and actually draws intense pleasure from carnage. Fighting is life to her, and while many children of Ares join PMCs or else try to take over small countries or something similar, Maria is content for the mere pleasure of today’s fight, whoever it might be. She doesn’t care who

Powers:

Thrill of the Arena

Maria’s power as a demigod are quite unusual, as she is actually three-quarters god. This has caused a disproportionate amount of godly power to fill her body, and interact with her mortal form in strange ways. As a demigod of Ares, she enjoys a host of powers. She holds peak human level in strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and skill with her weaponry. She is effectively just better then most are physically. Additionally, thanks to her high levels of endurance, she is immortal unless killed.

Her powers do not stop there, however, for this is how Maria performs without a captive audience. When unobserved, her powers are nothing too impressive, but when given a crowd to perform for, her power increases exponentially.

Once she has a crowd of about ten people watching (Not actively engaged in the conflict), Maria’s powers all double, and she gains a weak healing factor, able to regenerate small cuts and bruises. Each time the number of onlookers doubles, so does her power (After 10, 20, after 20, 40, and so on), meaning she must double the size of the crowd in order to increase her own power. Her healing factor quickly becomes able to regenerate large gashes and blunt force trauma after doubling twice, and after doubling five times, she can quickly regenerate limbs. After doubling ten times, Maria becomes nigh unkillable, able to regenerate completely if even a small part of her body remains. This doubling of power applies to her strength, speed, reflexes, endurance, and skill.

While she is quite naturally likable, should the crowd turn against her, this effect is reversed, actually weakening her instead of empowering her, and so her battles become something like political campaigns, always vying to keep the crowd entertained.

Love and War

To her benefit, Maria is quite likable. Her grandmother’s charisma and good looks have graced her.

Maria's appearance can not be described as anything less than breathtaking. She is supernaturally beautiful. Her features actually seem to change slightly to make her more attractive to anyone looking upon her. This is so subtle that it cannot be noticed, and affects each person differently. Her attractiveness is such that people who see her are compelled to either subconsciously think of her positively, or even to become infatuated with her.

Maria's words are like honey, and people have always just found something compelling about her when she speaks. When Maria speaks, attention tends to move to her, and people tend to listen. It is a compulsion, but a completely resistible effect. In general, people tend to like Maria, and want to please her for whatever reason, from infatuation to simple disposition.

Both of these effects emit a weak compulsion, and can be easily resisted, they just tend to be so subtle that people don't notice it.

Biography: Maria was born in Athens, to a daughter of Aphrodite and to Ares himself, making her both a second and first generation demigod. Because of this, she is technically three-quarters god, and this has manifested in her in rather strange ways. While her powers inherited from Aphrodite are fairly average, the powers she gained from her father are quite impressive indeed. When explaining this to her mother, Ares explained, as a rough translation from ancient Greek;

“Yeah, it’s sorta like if I crammed a god into a kid’s body. Weird stuff.”

Her bodily stamina was not nearly enough to keep up with these abilities, and so, she was taught restraint. Her mother was very strict with her, hoping that her daughter could instead embrace the gifts from her grandmother, who would not require nearly as much risk of death. Naturally, Maria resisted. Her mother tried multiple times to marry her off to a politician, though Maria rejected all of them. She wasn’t happy with just one man, much less some old dude who couldn’t even keep up with her.

When the Romans conquered Greece, she finally found her ideal spouse, but it was not a man. It was a building. An arena, to be more specific. While women were typically not allowed to participate in gladiatorial combat, she loved watching the gladiators fight, but knew deep down that she could do far better.

Eventually, by exploiting her powers as a demigod for the first time, she used her influence to procure an arena of her own. She built the thing from the ground up, and was intimately involved in its construction. When she had finished it, it was considered one of the finest arenas in all of Rome. People came from miles around to visit it, and men fought for Maria’s hand, hoping to gain possession of the property. They failed.

When Rome fell, Maria was getting on in the years, but still, her youth was retained. It had become a common rumor that she was a child of Ares. Unfortunately, that scarcely mattered anymore once Romulus was killed. She had lived several centuries at that point, and now decided to travel the world as a mercenary. And so she continued for many centuries, fighting in many major conflicts across history.

She fought as a mercenary against the Mongols, the Persians, and really, any army one could think of. When the Great War came along, she fought for multiple European powers, on either side, until World War 2 came along. She decided then that she would not fight for the Germans, because she could not stand what was being done in the concentration camps, if only because it was a cowardly way to kill your enemies. Her last major career as a mercenary with Pinkerton Detective Agency ended with the Anti-Pinkerton Act of 1893. After that, she left the states and wandered Afghanistan for a time. She longed for her life from before. She missed her arena. She missed the roar of the crowd.

And then, her father came to her with news of a place called Manta Carlos, where she could actually create her arena legally. She set off without another word. She’s been in Manta Carlos for a few years now, constructing her arena, and is soon about to unveil it to the public.
