Emily sat slumped against a bench in the nearly empty courtyard. Nobody was around, and the lack of emotions floating around her tongue was starting to make her sluggish. She'd gotten all dressy to go out and do something and everything, with a white, kind-of-frilly dress spread over her body. Unfortunately, All her friends were busy with studying or some other thing that was dominating their time.

Slowly, Em let out a sigh as she stared up into the blue sky. Was today to be a complete waste? Would she just have to go home without tasting any savory humor or bitter sadness? Her gaze eventually came down to rest on the phone in her hand, and her fingers sluggishly composed a text to 'his' number.

Hey, ^-^ Elias was it? :3 Are you doing anything right now? <-< All my friends are busy but I need to get out of my dorm for a while, and it would be lonely to go out alone :/ ... sooooo if your free we could go do something I guess >3>

Technically, Elias was doing his homework. In reality, what he was doing was a bit of watching anime on the side, a bit of drawing star charts for a project due... eventually, and a bit of lifting a random object up and down as a make-shift weight. Homework just really bored him. In theory, he thought that the star charts were interesting. He just didn't want to do them.

Almost as if God had heard his not-really prayers, though, his phone made a loud, sharp sound as a text came through. Curiously, he skimmed it over, thinking that maybe it was from Lei. Possibly even one of his sisters. When he saw who it was actually from, though, he grinned.

'Sure, I'm not doing anything important right now,' he typed back. 'What do you have in mind? Something off campus, I guess? Just let me know.'

Emily stared down at the phone in her hands. It... actually worked... Well she couldn't really ignore it now. She'd have to respond.

Um... I don't know o3o what do people do? go to movies or something? ._. I guess there's also food things that could be done, or like the park or something. :/ I should probably get out more often >.>

'Eh, we could go to the movies if you want,' he wrote, pondering over the options. 'If you don't think anything's interesting over there, though...' Elias guessed it would probably not be a great idea to suggest that they go out and fight random people for the laughs. Even if it was good for. For something.

What were considered to be 'normal' people things, anyways? Shopping, right? His sisters loved shopping. But then his mother loved to play tennis and his father loved to swim. It was probably too cold for sports, though. 'What do you like to do? I think I have an idea of where most things are in the city so we can try and match em up? Could always stop for snacks on the way, too.'

'Sure, walk sounds good. I'm just in the dorm so I can be there pretty soon. Just let me grab some clothes and I'll run over.' It wasn't like he had really left his room for a while, anyways. Anime marathons with ramen were great and all but after a while, a guy just had to go out and embrace the sunlight for a few hours. And reassure people that he wasn't a vampire in the process.

He was feeling kind of lazy but forced himself to actually dress decently. Something something always looking his best blah blah blah, godmother had said. Elias didn't deny that it was good advice. It just kind of seemed like a chore sometimes. Then again, his godmother kind of always treated people like they were little kids so maybe that was point.

As quick as he could, he buttoned up his shirt as he stumbled through the door. By the time he was down the hallway, he had managed to put on his blazer, and then a jacket on top of that. Cold was cold, after all. Courtyard is... other direction.

Emily just let her phone fade to idle as she held it. She didn't see much need to reply to the last text. He said he'd be right there and... Well he probably wouldn't get lost, right?

A small while passed until he arrived. Em stood up off the bench, hesitated, then gave him a small wave. "U-Um... H-Hi... Long t-time no see... I-I guess... Yeah..." she licked her lips a little, he didn't taste like he was in a violent mood. Oh, please just be mostly normal today...

He wasn't late. Elias was pretty sure that he wasn't, anyways. He had run all the way down the stairs instead of waiting for the elevator, after jabbing at the button for an entire two seconds didn't magically bring it to his floor. Upon seeing Emily right where she said she'd be, he gave her an energetic wave and shouted her name.

"Hey, it's good to you see you again, too!" Elias said, looking her up and down briefly. "Woah, that's a pretty fancy dress you have on. Are you sure you don't have a place in mind?" Now, he was starting to feel pretty glad that he had kept on following his godmother's advice, even though it was kind of in the way at times. If he had come out the way he wanted, Emily might have thrown him right back in for embarrassing her or something.

Emily blushed as he embarrassed her. Her dress wasn't that fancy... was it? Maybe inviting him was a bad idea. This might look suspicious or something, though she wasn't quite sure how.

"Th-Thanks... I-It's not... Really th-that fancy... It's meant f-for sunny afternoons... S-So it's really good f-f-for a walk... I don't have... a-anywhere else in mind..."

She fidgeted as she spoke, letting her eyes drift off to the side. Was this a bad idea? Was she going to regret this? It would probably be fine, as long as he didn't try to fight her again.

"Oh, well. It's still very nice," he said after a thought. "My sisters would do anything to get their hands on something like that." An idea came into Elias's head, then, that Emily might be one of those sorts of girls who'd keep a closet full of pretty things, wear one, and then be like 'oh, this old thing? I just had it lying around' and genuinely mean it. There was a bit of a laugh at the end of the imagined comment, which was kind of jarring because he didn't think he'd actually heard her laugh before. Was the real thing really that high pitched? It sounded a bit like he had twisted up one of his sisters' voices as a placeholder.

Maybe that was why idea was so weird. He should really stop using his sisters as a point of comparison because he honestly couldn't think of a time when it had ever helped.

"I hear that there's some nice museums in the city," Elias suggested. "Some of them are outdoors and such, too, people tell me. I've never really been that way myself but we can take a look? Might need to get on the bus at some point if you want to go out further, though."
