Emily's blushes deepened slightly as he continued to compliment her. Elias always seemed so cheerful, he had something of a perpetual aura of savery and sweet tastes floating around him. Maybe that was why she felt happy when he complimented her. "... I... I've seen m-much nicer dresses... Th-This one isn't a special o-one or anything... I-It's just what I-I decided to wear t-t-today..."

She turned away from Elias in an attept to hide her reddening face. How did he manage to do that? People had complimented her dresses before, but something in his wording and casual he had her self-concious about it. "A m-museum seems... A-Alright... I w-wouldn't mind looking at... A few th-things... D-Do... Do you h-have a s-s... Suggestion?..."

"Do you like astronomy at all?" Elias asked her after a moment. "Flowers or stars are what I think would be nice but we can go elsewhere, too. I'm not usually one for doing homework outside of class but, ah. I guess I did major in it for a reason. It's a bit weird seeing everything flipped around up here, though." Although, he did admit that finding stars of reference in the Northern Hemisphere was way easier. Polaris had to have been like five times more obvious than the Southern Cross.

Was Emily really this nervous of a person? Or was Elias just the one making her really nervous? He wasn't sure but he did consider that maybe he had to be more... something. It was a bit beyond him what it was, though.

Emily pressed her hands together and let them fall to her waist to stop herself from fidgeting so much. I mean really, she had asked him to come hang out with her, there wasn't any reason to be so embarrassed.

"... St-Stars... or fl-flowers sound like nice things to go look at... I-I'd be okey w-with that... I-I think... Y-You majored in A-A-Astronomy?... Wh-What made you pick that u-up?..."

Emily's jumbled mind set her walking in a direction, expecting Elias to start following. Her face turned pink again when she realized that he might correct her if it wasn't the right direction, but she couldn't just stop now...

“Well, I mean, they’re awfully pretty and Australia is a decent place to get a good view of the sky, at least so long as you get out of the city,” Elias said. If he were that sort of person, this would be the place that he could throw in a cliché ‘but not as pretty as you.’ That would have been weird, though. He didn’t even know Emily that well but it was exactly the sort of thing his sisters told him that he should do some day and he found himself thinking nostalgically of the days when they didn’t know how to joke around properly. They grew up fast, actually. That was a mildly terrifying thought but, hey. Good on them.

He walked alongside of the girl, making a small motion with his head to indicate that she should change her direction at the next turn that was coming up. “So, what exactly do you study? You’re in college, too, right?” Elias had simply jumped to that assumption, since Emily seemed like such a serious, mature person. Or maybe she was just a high-schooler with her head screwed up right.

She tilted her head a little bit as she listened, then blushed a little when it turned out she had chosen the wrong direction. "S-So... It's j-just because... You like a-admiring them?... Th-Th... That seems a-a little... Carefree..."

Em fidgeted slightly even as she walked, twiddling her fingers around each other and licking her lips lightly. "M-Me?... I'm... Y-Yes I'm in college... I'm s-studying... Ps-Ps-Psychology... Ps-Psyciatry... I knew a l-little before I... transferred here... M-My father... Was a therepist..."

"Oh, so you like to help people then!" Elias immediately jumped to that point, grinning. "I'm not surprised -you seem like a kind person and I'm sure you'd be great at it."

With a bit of embarrassment, he admitted, "I think my mom and dad hoped I'd become some sort of engineer someday, or at least do something related to animals. Dad's a marine biologist and Mom sells cars, which is actually a lot harder than it sounds. She's really good with people now because of it, though." Elias chuckled. "Well, okay, that's what she tells me. Builds character or something."

"But, yeah, anyways. I don't really have a great reason for my major like you do. I just think astronomy's a neat subject." Simple reasons for simple people. Elias liked to keep things easy to manage like that.

Emily could feel her face reddening as he continued to compliment her. Was this even the same person she'd met before? He seemed so much more... Charming... When he wasn't insisting they should fight.

She wasn't sure if she liked the fact she could taste his sincerity. "... I-It's natural for... Parents t-to have aspiration... F-F-For their children..." She tried to suppress all her fidgeting as she walked, letting Elias lead the way.

"..... I-Intera-action with people will m... Make you b-better at interacting with them... J-J-Just like practice with a-anything will make you um... B-Better at it... A-And... I m-mean... I'm d-doing this because... I enjoy i-it too..."

He laughed. "Yeah, I guess you're right. They just wanted the best for me. But all of those fields, they're all too big and grand. for my tastes Not really my sort of thing. Not to mention, my grades wouldn't get me anywhere close to any of that."

Elias did smile as he spoke, however. He knew he wasn't the smartest person around but he didn't particularly care if he was the dumbest either. There wasn't anything for him to be upset about in that truth so he supported its spread absolutely, keeping it in mind while he went and actually lived his life. It was just weird to be apologetic over something that wasn't in itself a bad thing.

"Well, I am glad you enjoy it," he said. "If you had said that you hated it, I would have told you to find something else. It's fine to be doing things that everybody else tells you are good and useful but if it doesn't make you happy, there's not really much of a point. There's other ways to be both of those things for any personality type, really, and one of the most important things is just to be happy and do things you like."

"As long as it doesn't hurt anybody else," Elias added after a beat. "That should be a bit of a given but sometimes it has to be said anyways."

Emily giggled a little bit despite herself. "S-So you chose... A-Astronomy... To pursue s-something not so b-big and grand-d?..." She understood what he had meant, but the irony still struck her as funny.

"I-I-I wouldn't do it... If I d-didn't enjoy i-it... That would j-just make me... M-Miser... Miserable..." She licked her lips a little, and then shook her head. She had to think about her own mental health sometimes too.

She let a silence linger a bit after his last comment, just playing with her fingers as she walked along next to him. "..... Y-You're a rather nice guy... F-For someone that's s-s-so... V-Violent..."

Elias couldn't help it. He laughed, scratching his head out of sheer embarrassment. "Aha, I'm really always going to be that one violent guy to you, huh?" It only a comment, and a rather thoughtful one on Elias's part. It felt kind of weird to keep hearing her talk about that one point.

"I think, like I said before, nobody actually gets hurt when I fight them," he said, honestly still not understanding what exactly is the problem. "Some people, when they're upset about things, they do better after they've just punched something a few times. And, um. It seems like a decent way to make lasting friends. There's that thing where people who play music together often start to get along really well. It's kind of like that, I think."

There was the distinct feeling that he was kind of botching up the explanation, and for once in his life, Elias wished that he were just a bit smarter. "I do like people, though," he told Emily. "I wouldn't ever want to hurt somebody, so it's kind of nice that I actually physically can't. Apparently I've got a bit of healing magic, too, but it only seems to work whenever I'm fighting somebody."
