He could still remember the firm voice of his teacher telling him to move faster, to hit stronger, as he spared with the empty air of the gym, training for a tournament he would, in the end, never go to. Do not let them touch you. the man's voice echoed in his head. Move before they grab you. he whispered, as yet another student launched himself at him, already breathing heavily in the hot summer air. He soon ended up on the ground, only to be replaced by two more, for even idiots have to learn sometimes, and for these, five times seemed to be enough, as they now started attacking him in the groups of ten, instead of three or five. They were all guys he had beating up already at least once before, and this was their way of seeking revenge, though, they haven't been doing so well this time around either, even as William started to tire, his body growing heavier and his movements slower.
And then, suddenly, sun was reflecting from a blade of a quickly drawn sword. Warrior was standing before him, and he could feel Spirit's warm body pressed behind him. The wolf growled, and for the first time in months, the growl was directed at somebody other than William. I don't need help! the boy spat, a small trail of blood making its way down his face as he frowned at Warrior's back, his fists still clenched. There is too many of them. Warrior simply answered him and all William could do in protest was frown even deeper, for he knew that once his spirits decided that their help was needed, the fight was done.
Fine!
