Appearance Description:Standing at 5'10 with a thin body in an hourglass shape, Tess was built beautifully. She has long muscular arms and legs which aren't usually noticeable due to her clothes style. Her skin is pale but compliments her hair and eyes. Her hair is black and reaches the lowest point of her back and her eyes are light blue. Her eyelashes are long and dark and her eyebrows are thin and come to a centered round arch over her eyes. She has delicate facial features like a small nose and mouth with pink lips. Her fingers are long and slender and her nails are also done in a French manicure she does herself. She loves dresses and dresses on the fancier side, like skirts and blouses and lots of nice accessories. Her shoe choices are usually flats, boots or wedges. (Picture below)
Personality Description: Character strengths- The first thing you'll notice about Alessandra is that she is very polite. She is courteous and soft spoken. She was raised as a helper so she is very kind and always willing to give help to whomever needs it. She is respectful to everyone,especially those who are older than her and those who are in authority. She is an observer, so she'd rather remain silent and listen to see what she can learn from that. Although she does not like a lot of attention, she is not afraid to step up and take control. She has maternal instincts due to the fact that she has four younger siblings
and you can often find her comforting, helping or playing with a child. Tess is a hard worker and not afraid to get her hands dirty, even if dirt is not her favorite thing. Overall, she likes neatness, orderliness and serenity.
Character flaws- Tess is kind of what you would call an old soul, so she doesn't particularly care for modern attitudes. She gets frustrated with people who are opposite of her in personality, and finds them intolerable. If she's not checking herself, she can slip into an attitude of feeling and acting like she is superior to others. If she does not agree with something she does not mind debating it with you for a long time. She does not have much tolerance for people who openly display bad qualities (playboys, rebels, ect.) and tends to ignore them altogether. It's easy to tell that she doesn't like you because she will give you the cold shoulder like no one could.
Powers: Stronger one- Animal shifting. Her powers are pretty simple. She can shift into any animal she chooses but it must be one she's heard of and it cannot be extinct. Her powers only apply as completely animal or completely human, there's no in between. While an animal she contains her human emotions and mind set. She is also able to speak just like a normal person. As an animal she has whatever abilities the creature has. When she shifts back into a human she is left as she was right before she shifted. While there are also mythical creatures as seen on the island, (water horses, phoenix, ect.) Tess is not able to shift into those as they are beyond her capabilities.
Weaker one- Animal communication. This works both when she is an animal and when she is a human. She is able to communicate with animals through her mind. This power has its limits as she can not speak to any kind of ape or monkey or any abnormally smart animal. (Like if it has been trained by humans and all that). As stated before, this is done in the mind and not out loud. Although some animal communicators also have the power to control the minds of the animals, Tess cannot do this.
Biography: Born and raised in Marietta, Ohio for several generations, the Carltons have always been a laid back family. The town suits them perfectly as it is a mix or rustic charm and modern things. Alessandra and her four younger siblings loved growing up there. All five of them are home schooled and that was the type of education Tess received from preschool till graduation. Her family was a close knit group as they got along well and were family oriented. Tess had quite a happy upbringing as her Mother was a part time dance instructor in a near by studio and her Father was a carpenter. There were many wonderful times when her Mother took the children to the dance studio and that is where Alessandra learned her love for dance. Her Father also took her to work sometimes, where she learned basic skills and how to be a hard worker. Her childhood was a regular one. She learned basic house keeping skills and was often left in charge to care for and teach her younger siblings. She was no stranger to hard worker and in everything she did, she applied herself as best as she knew how. She received her powers when she was thirteen. (Story below in the power section). After this, she laid low and became more of an introvert, avoiding the public unless it was dance or lessons. She received piano and voice lessons for several years and was often found having "classes" where she taught her younger siblings what she learned. She kept herself occupied with housework but occasionally shifted into animal form for the amusement of her youngest sister. Not long after finishing her junior year of college, her Uncle Ben, who had been doing research as he had powers, told her about a Starlight Academy he heard of. She mailed a letter with a few questions and told of her interest. She received the acceptance letter and transferred for her final year of college.

When she looked back Tess was gone and a normal grey squirrel stood in her place. This meant nothing to the four-year-old who assumed her sister was hiding. Tess only the other hand was completely confused and terrified. When she called out, she was able to talk like normal! She cried out to her parents who came and rescued the mortified talking squirrel. Her Father explained that if was a Carlton eldest child trait to receive these powers. He had not as he was a middle child, but her Uncle Ben had the powers as he was the eldest. A few minutes later she was a young teen girl again and after some time she learned to control it, and also discovered her animal communication abilities. Only her family and extended family knows about her powers. (After discovering her powers, she became a vegan but will be switching over to a vegetarian diet.)
