Not far into the woods is a large hedge maze. Really large. The hedges reach up twenty feet in the air, towering over the clearing where the entire maze has been set up. On the southeast corner of the maze is a gate, large, ornate, and seemingly made entirely of gold, and in front of that gate is a squirrel.

The squirrel would probably look pretty normal, if it wasn't wearing a top hat.

And, you know, if it wasn't four feet tall, tapping its foot impatiently as it waits for its players to arrive.

Anh Sang

She really had no idea what she was doing but look! A maze! And look! A squirrel! With an adorable top hat! Really, that hat alone was enough to make the trip out there worth it. With single-minded purpose, Anh Sang latched onto that aesthetic, steps slamming down faster and faster onto the earth. She waved her hand eagerly into the air. "Hello! Hello!" she called out.

Xarrah was pretty much used to the crazy things that happened on the island. That being said the giant squirrel in a top hat was unsettling to her. She was a hundred precent sure this wasn’t the weirdest thing to ever be seen on the island. Xarrah slowly approached the squirrel. “Uhm hello?” She could see the gates and a maze..but she wasn’t sure what to expect.

James would appear from darkness not far from the maze, immediately squinting and raising an eyebrow at it all. He'd approach the two people there, his nose identifying one to be a stranger and the other to be Xarrah. "Hey there," he'd Greer them, standing besides Xarrah and looking up at the squirrel, "hello?"

A kid, a kid, and a kid. Not a lot of adults, but September supposed that most adults probably had things like jobs and lives and couldn't just spend the weekend running around through a giant maze so he could laugh at them.

"Alright kiddos!" September declared, spinning a black cane that had appeared seemingly from thin air. "You're all here for the maze, right? The big game. You saw my message, and now you're here, and you probably want to get your greedy hands on the prize, right? So here's the rules."

The squirrel tapped the cane on the ground, and like magic a whiteboard appeared beside him, blank at the moment. As the squirrel explained, tapping the whiteboard with the end of his cane, each rule got written in nice, elegant handwriting.

"The maze is a big maze. We've portion it out in nice friendly squares, and the whole thing is, say, twenty units by twenty units. You'll be able to tell how big a unit is because they're marked on the inside of the maze. Little strips on the walls to tell you how far you've gone. There's this gate, and then there's another gate, and you want to get out the other side... probably. We've got some rules though! No fighting, stabbing, weapons, or other violence. No damaging the hedges. No going through the hedges. No leaving the maze--and that means up or down counted. If you get stuck in a hedge, I get to laugh at you."

The squirrel seemed to ponder for a moment, it's expression more or less impossible to read by virtue of being a squirrel, and then he twirled his cane again, the whiteboard gone as quick as it had come.

"If you're smart, you'll map out where you're going," he said. "But there's challenges too. The less I say about them, the better. And secrets! Can't forget the secrets. That said, before we get in on there..."

The squirrel was definitely squinting at them now, looking from one to the next.

"What're all your powers? I don't want the maze to get solved because one of you has find-the-exit-kinesis."

Xarrah blinked and then snorted at the ending. Find-the-kinesis sounded like a kick ass but silly power. “Uh im a dragon, i can manipulate electricity and I can manipulate eletric, radio and digital waves.” She wondered if the squirrel guy was going to turn their abilities off because that seemed sketchy. “Are you going to disable our powers Mr.TopHatSquirrel?”

"I can conjure and manipulate darkness," James would say with a nod, "create tentacles with it and teleport, makes me stronger and more agile, and my senses are also enhanced," he'd finished explaining his abilities, they were simple enough.

"Nah," September said in response to Xarrah's question. "But I figured if any of your powers really clashed with what was inside, I'd shuffle things around. But I don't see any issues, so there we go. Now..."

September waved his cane in the direction of the gate, and it opened up.

"You've gotta walk through the gate at the other end! Probably. So get going, and I'd hurry it up!"

The walls of the maze were made of thick, tightly packed greenery, preventing anyone from seeing through. Straight ahead was just shrubbery, with the maze immediately splitting off. To the right was a shorter path, and to the left was a much longer path, with no other visible signs.
