Hello everyone,

So, according to the very in-depth, precise and minute Guide To Success, I'm supposed to introduce myself because ya'll are excited to meet me ! So here we go, might feel a bit mechanical, I haven't done this in a long time, and I've never done it on an English speaking site.

My name's Nathan, although I'll much more spontaneously respond to "Tygolio", "Tygo" or "Ty" if you're really that lazy. It's pronounced ,tɑɪ'gəʊlɪə if you're wondering.
I'm 20 years old, French, born and raised in Alsace (it's that little piece of France at the border that sparked two world wars, might've heard about it), and I'm currently validating my Bachelor's Degree in English Studies (like, I should be studying for my finals right now, I mean it when I say I'm *currently* validating it).

As far as roleplaying is concerned, I think I've got quite a little baggage, but nothing too crazy. I first started this back when I was like 10 years old (back then I was quite fond of reading and literate enough to RP with people twice my age without their noticing, good times) on a Harry Potter forum to which I had been introduced by my six year older sister. A year later I reiterated this, still on a HP forum, but a much more active one, and I quite enjoyed it, even though, as well as my earliest experience, it ended in pain and agony with a disband of the mods and admins. Yet again, a year later, I spent like 6 months on a non fandom forum that was basically about a city with witch, werewolves and all that Twilight/SPN flavored stuff (as a comparison, wasn't inspired by it directly). I ended up being a mod on this forum, since I was pretty chummy with the admin IRL. Took care of buffing up the lore, which she had been a tad too lazy to work on, as well as drafting up some banners and stuff (by no means can I draw, but I used to be pretty good on Photoshop). My last Forum RP experience was with a WoW one. We role-played both on the server and on the forum, it was pretty cool, but I was a bit too young at the time and I couldn't play at the same hours they could and ended up basically being de facto kicked out because of it.
Apart from that, I've been both DMing (Dungeon Master-ing) and playing as PC in D&D campaigns, 4E and 5E, with my friends IRL. I've mostly DMed, so I was in charge of coming up with a background and plot and motives/incentives for the party to go on or beat people/monsters up. But my favorite part's always been creating characters from scratch and coming up with their background (which I can't wait to do here, everything seems basically awesome).

My other hobbies include mostly video games (8 yr veteran of League of Legends, still arse-biscuit at it) and watching TV shows or anime (a bit of a weeaboo trash, not gonna lie), as well as some of my favorite youtubers. I'm a big fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe too. Pretty pumped about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. You can ask me all about all this more in details if you want, because I could go on for quite a while as far as video games are concerned, tee-hee.

I'm both pretty shy and pretty outspoken, which means I might ask you like 20 times to confirm you're fine with my joining your open thread with no replies yet, or post a needlessly detailed post that leaves like a ton of openings for you to kick me out of the topic. Tell me if it gets too heavy or suffocating, I haven't interacted with people on the internet as intensely as we are supposed to do here in a long time.
Also, English is not my native language, and although I like to think myself quite proficient at it, I might just make some pretty stupid mistakes, and I'd ask you to kindly bear with it and to even more kindly point it out to me through a quick PM if possible.

Anyways, I'm quite pumped to start and get more acquainted with all of you !
Nice to meet ya'll

@Tygolio

Did someone say weeaboo trash?

:sit:

Because I definitely wouldn't know anything about that, nope.

It's good to see someone else with similar interests on here, and I hope to see more in the cbox!

Welcome to SA, where most of us are some sort of weeb garbage. You're among friends here.

I know you've already read a lot, but if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Welcome to SA~~~

We're excited to have you, welcome to the site of the roleplaying weebs. Do not fret, it's welcomed and encouraged to be a fangirl/fanboy about stuff on here and no doubt there is someone who shares it with you~.
I'm also into LoL (haven't played in a couple months because of school and roleplay) and sort of into MCU (I'm just movie/TV trash which some people says doesn't count) but I would be delighted to talk to you about either one~. I'm kind of the same way with Open Threads so I understand.

I hope you have a great time here!
If you have any questions, feel free to stop a Staff member for some answers! And for any plots, feel free to hit me up!

HOLY CRAP THAT WAS LONG.

Hiiiiiiiiiiii! That's a lot of RP experience there! I myself used to roleplay on WoW and GW2, though I didn't forum RP any at that time.

Welcome to the forum and no need to be shy at all! Open threads are for everyone and if you ever have any questions a staff member is always around to answer questions if you have any. :flowerllama:

i heard weeaboo trash :^) hello there

but whew, seems like you've really garnered up quite the RP experience! i dont think mine can compare xD most other RP groups ive been shut down before i even get myself together and others have barely much activity to begin with. I haven't really had much experience with DnD either since i can't catch my other nerd friends irl when they're playing which is sad because i worked really hard on m y character for our games :((

ANYWAY!! i'm really excited to see what you've got in store :vibrates: welcome to the board tygo!! hope you enjoy it here with us~ as the others have already said, if there's anything you need, staff members are open for questions and such!

Yup, it seems like you have the background to know what you're doing here.

Again, welcome! We're glad to have you! I don't think we have had anyone from France yet.

Also, I've actually been either in or near Alsace a few times. It's a beautiful area. Or maybe I just spent more time in the photogenic areas along the Rhine and that's why I left with that impression - it's hard to tell when you're just travelling and passing through.

Let us staff types know if you need anything, though I'm sure you can get everything figured out without too much trouble.

Oh my god, ya'll be here acting all so nice and sweet and adorable, sweet lord where did I end up you all seem to be so precious and supportive ! It almost puts some kind of pressure on me to be cool and invested and stuff

I'm glad to be surrounded by my weeaboo brothers, it won't feel so lonely anymore when I draw my glorious nippon steel to rend our opponents ! If that's what people are into around here.
I hope I'll be up to the enthusiasm I felt in all your heartwarming posts !
Also, you might've noticed because it took me a day to answer, but I'm kind of busy with finals these days, so I can only post in the evening (which is like midday in the US), and I'll probably be in a deadzone in two weeks because I'm in a play and we have our representation in the week of the 9th of May.

Also, reaaaaally pumped to get my character going and hop in the rp train.

Thanks again for the welcome, looking forward to just about anything with ya'll !

Bonjour et bienvenue à Starlight Academy! Je m'appelle ReD. Je suis un etudiant, aussi.

That’s about the extent of what I remember from my limited experience with French. (I mean, I had four years of studying French between secondary & post-secondary, but I was so, so bad at it. My accent is terrible. I have all the brad, flat tones of an American with no idea how to get those precise nasal tones.) Also I lack the ability to get the accent mark over my e’s, which causes a huge mess of confusion, but I still wanted to try and welcome you as best as I could.

It’s great to have you join us ! I was definitely one of those people who enjoyed the whole supernatural-themed roleplay sites. I was on quite a few, along with wolf-RPG sites, before I finally wound up here. Based on your past experiences I think you’ll be quite happy here. SA has been around for over ten years now, the staff are great and stable, and there’s enough flexability to have both the magic-school plots in addition to the supernatrual-esque side plots of a magic town RPG.

Also there’s a huge group of members that have all play/currently play D&D here, so you definitely won’t be alone. I haven’t had a chance to meet you yet, but I look forward to getting to say ‘hello’ in the cbox or starting a few plots. Welcome welcome !

oh and good luck with finals!
