The scent of sterilized room and whiteness made his eyes water. He hated the infirmary. He hated being here. Why did he keep ending up here? Couldn't he just lay in his bed in his dorm for a while? Couldn't he just order some pizza or something and wrap himself in a blanket, watching reruns of poorly dubbed anime while he worked diligently like the busy little bee that he was? Was that so wrong?

The sound of Arren's voice made Wei jump and send a shiver down his spine, like a nanny had caught a naughty child taking candy before dinner. He rubbed his arms. Jesus.

"You're gonna take care of all the stuff I need to do?" He mimicked, sitting up slowly in his bead, ignoring the wooziness. Arren didn't know what needed to be done! He didn't know what level of detail that needed to be put into the posters, he couldn't possibly help Wei tryout for the baseball team and he was certain Arren didn't know the intricacies of Argentina's Tango like Wei did! Not well enough to teach to DANCE!!! members!

Finally his wooziness overcame him, and he flopped down against the pillows that were equal parts rough and soft. "What if I need to go to the bathroom?"

He disregarded the slightly snarky tone, reminding himself that Wei absolutely hated this. Of course, he'd give the boy no choice, but still.

"Yes, I will try to help you as best I can." Here, he paused, arching a thin brow at Wei's question. "Even then, I shall help. As a nurse here, there's very little I have not seen."

That, and he'd had to help Jace clean out all the alcohol, all three weeks worth of alcohol in his body at once, in about five days. He'd taken care of Ace when the boy's stomach rebelled at the richer foods he ate once he was in the care of the other two, all too used to the not-very-nutritious things he'd scrounge around for on the street.

He couldn't ignore someone in need. His nature now didn't allow for it.

It bothered him when Arren didn't seem to respond to his snark. He was being put here against his will and wasn't being allowed to go anywhere the least he could do was respond to his weak snark.

And he literally wasn't allowed to go anywhere! Not even--according to the implications of his statement--not even to the freaking bathroom!

"Wait." He said, rolling over as best he could to get Arren into his admittedly bleary line of sight. He'd remembered some of the girls in his class making a big deal of him, but he didn't see the appeal.

Then again he couldn't really see period but....

"Are you saying I can't even go to the bathroom? Are you afraid I'll pass out at the urinal or something?!"

Oh no. Everything about this was worse than expected. "Can I at least get a little... hospital... table thing for my laptop?"

Arren watched as Wei tried to maneuver on the bed, as exhausted as he was, and met the boy's blurry gaze head on. "To be frank, Mr. Wei, with your track record, I am worried about that as well." He shook his head to himself. "If you would simply allow your body to rest for even a day, a single day, then I will leave you alone." The 'for now' didn't need to be tacked on at the end of the sentence.

He nodded, however, and stepped closer so he could position the table and adjust it to the height Wei would need, then bent to pick up the backpack and place it on said table. "Now, will you agree to stay in bed this time, or will I need to rescue you again?" He asked. "Every time something like this happens, your Infirmary stay will be lengthened by two hours. If you wish to stay here overnight, then have at it. If not, please, please rest. You're only doing yourself a disservice, after all."

"Aw come on..." he whined, pulling the blankets over his head and fuming for a bit before popping his head out like a gopher. His tail would be twitching in agitation if he could summon up the strength to do something like that. Really, it was taxing enough to keep his eyes open and his body from becoming sluggish like wet concrete. Nothing seemed more exciting to him in that moment than putting something tasty in his mouth.

Almost unconsciously, his eyes started to wander around the room in search of the ice water pitcher and broth hat Arren had so tantalized him with earlier. Now, he felt, would be a good time for him to start giving him access to that. Or feeding him. He didn't have a lot of faith in his ability to eat something like soup without spilling half of it everywhere.

Finally, the monkey sighed and sat in the bed, the headboard propping him up like a good little patient. "Fine," he muttered sourly, casting a sidelong glance to his backpack. It was only a day without working. He could handle at least that much.

He stood there patiently, waiting out Wei's whining. He'd have to make a decision, and, well, Arren would carry through with those threats. After several moments of silence, the boy gave in, causing a warm smile to appear on his features. He didn't say anything though, simply moving to take the tray of food-- he'd noticed Wei's unintentional search and could guess what he wanted.

With yet another muttered word, the mist regulating the temperature dispersed as he replaced the backpack with the tray, settling the bag back to the side of the bed. He poured water into the glass that had come with the tray and picked up the spoon to mix the soup around a bit, then grabbed the napkin that had been neatly folded and placed it on Wei lap. The scent of the broth wafted through the air, making the Infirmary smell deliciously. "Would you like bread as well?" He asked kindly, settling at the edge of the bed so he could help the boy if he needed it; there wasn't anyone else currently in the Infirmary, so he could put all his attention on Wei.

A day without working, he thought, his eyes following Arren's motions as he took the tray and replaced his backpack with it. Wei couldn't help but follow his backpack with his eyes, watch as it dropped to the floor and out of his reach. He wanted to grab it quickly, to press it against his chest as though it were a lifeline. Wei physically felt like he needed to work. What would he hand out for his campaign? What would he do? Would people forget about him?

The stress of it made his scalp prickle in a very uncomfortable way.

But the smell of food was far more appealing.

Before he could stop himself, he reached for the glass with both hands and drank deeply. It was cold and made the inside of his mouth sting a little, but the water was somehow tastier than it had ever been to him before. He'd also not drank in several days though, and that likely had something to do with it.

When asked about bread, he nodded. He could eat bread no problem, then he could try the soup.

Arren summoned yet another little spirit, this one of the same color than the first-- a sparkly pink--, but had different shaped wings and longer hair. The pixie flew off to the kitchens and, like the other two that had gotten the tray the first time, soon returned with a loaf of semolina bread, a small container of butter, and a butter knife, carried on a similar tray.

While the little thing was gone, Arren kept watch of the boy, cautioning only once for Wei to drink a bit slower, "You will get a stomach ache if you keep that up." He murmured, frowning faintly at the implications of Wei's immense thirst.

Once the bread arrived, he took the tray and dispelled the pixie. Luckily, the bread had already been pre-cut most of the way and only required a bit of pulling to get a slice from the loaf. He'd have to go to the kitchens and thank the staff, he thought absentmindedly as he set three slices onto the food tray. With that done he left the butter and butter knife as well, and though the meal overall as simple, it was hearty and tasted good.

He would wait until Wei needed further help, however, not wanting to embarrass the boy by asking if he needed assistance first, and so remained fairly quiet.

Wei half wanted to ignore Arren and keep drinking the water as he was--how could water this tasty possibly give him a stomach ache, he had no idea what he was talking about--but he remembered that he also hadn't eaten in a while, and while he was no stranger to being in either of those situations, the idea of accidentally filling up on water was no appealing. So the little monkey conceded, drinking slower and setting the cup back down on the tray.

He felt like he'd been brought back to life, like a plant that had been on the verge of death.

When the bread was placed in front of him, he took a slice and ate it easily. His stomach gave an ugly groan and he had a vague look of pain on his face, but he was no stranger to that. Usually to get back on his feet after being without a real meal, his Mom would buy bananas, where they could get a bunch for pretty cheap.

The first bite of food after having nothing to eat for a long time was more painful than soothing. His stomach had gotten pretty tight. But he ate another piece of bread anyway, and his stomach complained less as it began to remember the feeling of having something inside of it to digest.

Wei let out a sigh. He could still feel his whole body quivering, but at least he was getting better.

Arren felt a small flash of triumph as Wei heeded his word, though he wasn't sure it was less his help and more of something else of the simian boy's mind. In the end, he figured, it didn't matter very much why, but that he did. And even still his frown deepened, his concern growing with the obvious signs-- at least, to a trained medic-- of the malnutrition.

For some odd reason, he'd felt the urge to tuck Wei into bed and never let him do anything without his supervision, but as quickly as that impulse registered in his mind, it disappeared, leaving him puzzled. Then again, Wei was normally a very friendly, outgoing person. He enjoyed those types of people, though he did also like helping those who weren't like that, so it would be reasonable for him to worry about Wei. The boy was quite sweet as well.

He grabbed the loaf and cut a few more slices, buttering them as well before refilling the cup. He then turned to the soup, mixing it once more before glancing sideways to Wei. "Please, try some. It has easy garnered the reputation of a favorite 'sick day food', as I've heard some call it."
