Hi there,

I just signed up, and now I am trying to navigate my way through the vastness of the site! This place is way bigger than most others I have been on in the past!

My screen name is Zora, real name is Linda, and I've been RPIng for 10, maybe 15 years now - on and off. I'm from Canada - I have lived in Spain, the UK and for a short while, Portugal. I speak Spanish, Galician (a mix of Spanish and Portuguese) and English, and I understand/read Portuguese, French and Italian. As you can tell, I love languages - not speaking them necessarily, but the semantics and how they are structured. (Strange, I know. lol).

I've been RPing, well, since RP was the thing to do and there were hundreds of busy sites to join. I love historical fiction (of any period, time, or place). I also love fantasy and I am a huge fan of Guy Gavriel Kay's book "Tigana", Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose", Anne Rice's vampires and the Mayfair Witches, and ...the Harry Potter series.
(and I will admit to reading Twilight (and I did enjoy it) but I actually enjoyed "The Host" more.)

What else can I say? ... Oh, I have been searching for a site that seemed friendly to start RPing again (I had stopped a few years ago because, well, life gets in the way. ;) ) I have more free time now, and SA just looked and felt like it might be a good place to start RPing again.

Linda

HI ZORA WELCOME TO SA!!

(BREATHES) I see you also appreciate the beauty of semantics and functional grammar (/shot) I don't have a lot of languages in my arsenal and honestly I have 0 patience to put effort on memorizing vocabulary for new languages because i suck terribly at that the most — I actually only speak English and my native Filipino tongue and also can't read anything else but GOSH I UNDERSTAND THIS LOVE FOR LANGUAGE STRUCTURE. It's so fascinating once you figure out how the words just string together in each language and compare them to others? I practically screamed about this when I had a class that let us break down sentence structure on other languages and my classmates gave me stares for being so excited about it lmao

But okay NERDING ASIDE I think SA's a pretty good choice! We've got such a large friendly community here, I'm sure you'll settle in just fine! Hope you have fun around here <3

Well I can say that SA is a good place to start RPing again, and I say that not just because I'm one of the staff here, but because I can definitely say that the people here are pretty easy to get along with, and a lot of them are great to roleplay with.

I am Nameless, a site ranger. While at the moment I'm not as active as I used to be thanks to a horrible schedule (real life, it really gets in the way), I can be seen popping in and out of the chatbox and on discord.

It's really great to see new faces here, and I hope to see you hanging around! Feel free to drop by the cbox at the bottom of the site and say hi!

Welcome to the site!

Hey there, Zora! First, that's an intimidating number of languages to understand. But that's also really cool.

Anyway, I'm one of the mods. If you have any questions or concerns while navigating our big ol' site (or you just wanna say 'hi'), don't hesitate to hop into one of the staff's PMs or the cbox down below.

I hope you enjoy your stay with us and, officially, welcome to SA!

Hey, Zora and welcome to the site!

Holy shit is that a lot of languages. I'm not good at languages myself but always wished I was. Also a bookworm! I don't read as many books as I used to, but I do have a fantasy/historical fiction that came to mind you might like called Through Wolf's Eyes by Jane Lindskold.

Welcome to SA! I also have a love of languages, though I'm fairly new and kind of indecisive. I'm currently learning French, but I also hope to learn Japanese, Korean, maybe Chinese, and finish up some Dutch that I learned a while back.

Anyways, I hope to see you around the site some more!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome everybody!

Keen and Hyper, I am always impressed by those that can write in a language different to their own - and obviously speak them too! So kudos to both of you. (I am assuming Hyper also speaks one of the many Philippine languages. My sister-in-law is from the Philippines, and the one she speaks is very similar to Spanish.)

The Asian languages are certainly fascinating - and I admire anybody who wants to learn one.

Sarrain - Same. I used to read a lot more. Now, I just don't seem to find the time. I'll definitely have to check that book out. I'm always looking for something new to read.

Nameless, very cool name, and what's a site ranger? Thanks Kadakism, I may shoot you a question or two if I can't find what I'm looking for! :)

Hey there and welcome to SA! I'm ReD and it's great to meet you.

As a lover of languages, you're certainly not alone here--as i'm sure you've guessed! So many of the members here are multi-lingual. I wish I could say I was one of them!

I am a big reader though so I'm always happy to talk books if you're reading anything good. i basically spam up the "what are you reading thread" close to weekly. SA is a great place to get back into the swing of things so I hope you enjoy it here!

welcome again~
