So, the good news is, today my mother survived open heart bypass surgery today. She has an artery on her heart which has been giving us trouble and causing us to go in for (less serious) operations almost quarterly for years. Finally, we have gone to our last resort, which was a second attempt at an open bypass surgery. The surgery went extremely well, far better than anyone expected - I was told to be ready for a 12 hour waiting time and it took 4 for the surgeon to finish. If this bypass keeps mom out of the hospital for another 20 years, it'll be the best Christmas present I've ever had in my life.
The bad news is, I've been in a different city than my hometown for the past 12ish days, and I will probably be here through Christmas, living out of an expensive hotel with internet that sucks. I have spent most of my days hanging out with my mom in the hospital, which has a lot of lead-lined walls due to areas of the hospital which are or used to be radiology units, and as such I have little to no internet access most of the time I'm there. When I get back to the hotel I'm usually too exhausted to post.
Don't expect much from me for a while.
