She stared up at the girl's palm, listening as intently as an eleven year-old with rainbows on the mind could have. "You really, think so?" Anh Sang asked hopefully before shaking her head furiously. "Wait, no, that's dumb! Somebody else already told me it would work, too, so I'm doubly sure now that it'll go fine!"

"I'm Anh Sang!" She introduced herself after the older girl did. "Pham Thi Anh Sang! Um, there's probably an empty classroom or something nearby, I think." Quickly, she glanced around, as if to make sure.

Whatever it was, something about this girl made Iris want to cheer her on. However, she never was one to let her emotions get in the way of her logic. "Hmm... let's find a place to sit first."

There didn't seem to be a place they could use, and though she probably could, Iris was averse to the idea of breaking open a classroom for them to sit in. Instead, she turned her head to the distance and crinkled her nose. "You know what - let's go get some food. We can always talk in the caf, and afterwards at least you have an audience to campaign to."

Anh Sang practically bounced where she was standing. "Okay, sure! I think that they have apple pie today!" She said gleefully. It was close enough to lunch time now, anyways, so she thought it was just perfect timing.

A thought came to her then, which made her frown just a little. "What if somebody else is already cam-paigning there, though?" She asked. "It was pretty popular last semester for doing that, except when that one weird thing happened with Marina and some other guy." At the very least, Anh Sang knew that Morgan wouldn't be there today but for the other people, well. Who even knew?

"It's okay," Iris said, leading the way. She took smaller strides, making sure she was always within reach. It worked in her favor - with her cautious stride she fell down less. "Here's what you do when you see someone else campaigning there. You wait until they say something and you shut them down, and show everyone that you're the better choice. Hang on, that sounds kinda mean. Since when was I this cutthroat?"

Her suggestion felt way too intense for what she was supposed to be doing. Before she could get all hyper-competitive, she distracted herself with the thought of pie. "Yeah, apple pie sounds about right."

Anh Sang had no idea what being cutthroat meant (language barrier and all) but she thought it sounded pretty cool, while also hoping that it wasn't something like. Like actually cutting somebody's throat. That sounded pretty painful.

"Tell me about being 'cutthroat,'" the eleven year-old said innocently. "So, does that mean I'd have a better chance of winning? Could I be 'cutthroat?' It doesn't mean that I have to use knives or anything sharp, right?" But, just because she didn't want to seem like a giver-upper, she added, "But if we really need to use knives, can we just use it on the pie instead?"

Iris Valeria Sharon Nicolai (keep forgetting this thing)

A brief moment of panic came upon Iris. God help her if she pushed this girl down the path of the bloodthirsty competitor."I - it's not like that. No knives. God no. Cutthroat just means you do everything you can to win, like being aggressive, or in some cases - hopefully not this election - even, yeah, cut throats."

Iris moved back, setting herself behind Anh Sang and gently putting her hands on her shoulders. She'd have gone straight for wrapping them around the girl's neck in a hug, were it not from her reservations from only having known her for a few minutes. "We're not going to do any of that, okay? It's fine to be competitive, but it's bad to be too competitive. There are more important things than winning. We'll just use knives when there's food, and not on other candidates."

Thankfully, Anh Sang probably couldn't see the guilty smile Iris had on her face as she looked away. What she said was right, but coming from her... it probably reeked of hypocrisy.

Anh Sang wrinkled her nose. So it really did sometimes involve knives? "Oh, okay, it's probably if we don't do that, then. It sounds really mean and painful!" She also didn't think that the teachers would actually let anybody get away with that; it would be pretty terrible if they did and, well. She liked the school. She didn't want to think that the teachers always let bad stuff like the thing last summer happen.

"What if we just promised pie every day or something?" Anh Sang wondered out loud. "Everybody likes pie, right?" She sniffed a few times as they came closer to the cafeteria, the sweet and warm smell of cinnamon and apples filling her nose. People who didn't like apple pie were just plain crazy in her opinion.

"Probably not..." Iris said hesitantly. "There's the logistics of it to consider, and the fact that it doesn't really advance anything, and..."

The shadow of doubt crept upon Iris's thoughts. Surely the girl didn't need to know? She was so innocent, and so pure, that it felt almost a sin for the truth to exist and to come out. Was it worth it? Was the truth really so important that it was worth destroying this perfect illusion?

She didn't know, and she wouldn't know.

"Uh... not everyone likes pie."

Hearing the words come out of her mouth made Iris physically cringe. It was a rather tragic truth. Some were unfortunate enough to never have tried, and some had tried and found it beneath them. Iris herself was among the latter camp - pie was good, but there was just so much better.

She froze. Anh Sang didn't even bother thinking of other people in the hallway, she just stopped dead in her tracks before turning to look up at the older girl with comically wide eyes of disbelief. "W-what? Why not? Pie's the best thing ever!" She insisted childishly.

What did people not like about it? The fruit? The fruit could be changed! Or you could put chocolate or cream or that weird pumpkin stuff in there if you really wanted. Some people even liked to use meat? That was weird to her but okay, it was still pie!

"Do they at least like cake?" Anh Sang pressed. "It's different but it's still around there? How about tarts?"

Oh no no no no no no...

Iris wanted to argue so badly, but kept the urge in. She'd done enough. Defusing the situation was her best bet at the moment. "Some people just like... other things."

Carefully she chose her next words, knowing full well how much she had to keep her own tastes in check. This was an impressionable child she was talking to. "Everyone likes something else. It all depends on the person. It's just like the pie... even if it's good, there are some people who'll think otherwise."
