Hey there folks!
I'm writing from my phone during a lunch break at work so I'll keep it brief, but I'm really glad I found this place! It seems like just the kind of RP site I've been looking for.

I go by Dr. Beat, Dr. B, Doc B. or any other variant you can think of. My hobbies are gaming (mostly JRPGs), roleplaying (both forum and tabletop) and watching anime.

I'm also a budding writer so I spend a lot of time reading and writing. My genre is Middle Grade fantasy so the stuff I read and write is mainly aimed at older kids/tweens. The MG voice is pretty hard to master, so you'll probably see me mostly playing older elementary kids and trying my darndest to make them sound natural. Critiques always welcome!

I've already got (what I hope will be) a fun first character idea hammered out so I'll be trying to get that posted when I get off work.

I tend to be on either really early or really late to post and I'm usually not able to chat in realtime too much (though I do participate in Discord chats now and then) so you'll probably be seeing me mostly in threads.

I am definitely excited not just to RP but also just hang out with a great new community! Thanks for having me!

Hey Doc B! Nice to have you around. I, too, love tabletop role-playing and watching anime.

And I totally get you about kids being hard to get right. I have an older kid character, and I sometimes feel like she comes across as too knowledgeable for her age. But it's all chill. We live and we learn.

If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to ask. You can PM a staff member or just drop into the cbox. We're usually around and we are all pretty chill.

Howdy hoo Dr. Beat! Glad that you are excited to have found our community here and I do hope that it is just the sort of forum site that you were looking for. We pride ourselves with how welcoming our community is so don't be afraid to bring up possible plot ideas any of our members, including the staff!

Since you mention that you mostly write older children and in their tweens, I have few characters that might be prefect for your character's first post if you need someone to RP. If you have any questions about the site, its rules, or the setting, do not hesitate to PM myself or anyone the other staff members about your questions. Everyone here is pretty helpful I have found since I joined this site about a year go. I do hope that Starlight Academy is your kind of place and will look forward to seeing you around Dr. B .

A school RP seems like it would be a good place to practice writing younger characters. I usually cheat and just have my kid characters be precocious in certain ways. I get the sense you've spent more time thinking about how to write them than I have, so I look forward to RPing with you and seeing you around more!
